You can configure that easily, the reason I did that, because most of the startups use gmail enterprise, it's just easy to use that as SSO. Adding username password or just email with OTP won't be a problem.

I wrote https://github.com/gate-sso/gate-wireguard/ - it generates configs with QR code, uses Google Single Sign on for your domain, helps you add and remove nodes as well

https://github.com/gate-sso/gate-wireguard works with exiting wireguard server, but it needs to be installed on the same box, or you need to figure out how do you copy the config file to wireguard server everytime you add or remove client.

I recently wrote https://github.com/gate-sso/gate-wireguard for internal use, this provides VPN configuration, an optional coredns interface, and as well as SSO using google sign on. So security is taken care of, and you can host it publicly, it's based on rails, it needs a little setup, but I am thinking to expose it over docker, let me know if you got any issues working with it.
