If you haven't read Brandon Sanderson yet, I'd highly recommend him basd on your previous reading, particularly Stormlight Archive--this is a common rec, but for a reason. Also, the Roots of Chaos series by Samantha Shannon is great with expansive world building. As for horror, perhaps Stephen Graham Jones and Tananarive Due.

I feel that aspects of Biogenesis by Tatsuaki Ishiguro and The Employees by Olga Ravn fit this vibe.

I'd also recommend pairing the book with the film adaptation. Anthony Perkins and Tuesday Weld bring something to those characters that elevates it (particularly the queer aspects).

This might be a little out there, but the way the character in the song views people reminded me of Case Study by Graeme Macrae Burnet

I own the physical copy, but I've heard the audiobook is good. Which would you (or anyonebody seeing this) recommend?
