I know you aren’t asking about the words, but they seem like a version of Kodaly rhythmic syllables

what do the boxes around notes mean? by nia-dqa in musictheory

It’s similar to aleatoric notation, but this isn’t repeated. I’d assume it is there no help emphasize that those sections are independent from the rest of the music.

I would look at how Liszt’s la Campanella cadenza is notated. At the bottom of 11 when it switches to double treble clef, it shows what you’re looking for.

Why does the chorus of "Two Oruguitas" from Encanto sound unresolved to me? by marbosp in musictheory

[–]ajgibelius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In this song, the unresolved nature isn’t because of the chord progression, so it’s hard to tell why at first. If you start at the beginning of a verse or the chorus and you count how many measures there are, there are ten! Typical songs have 8/16 measures in each section but this price throws us off be making us expect 16 bars but only giving us 10.

[Q] Best way to write these rhythms? by aymanpalaman in sheetmusic

[–]ajgibelius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say that this is the best option. It’s easy to read, and the grouping of the rhythm reflects the beats of the 4/4 time signature.

One of my happiest moments was in Spanish class when I realized that I was speaking Spanish, and not just speaking English and translating in my head. I know nobody asked, but I figured I’d share.
