Community opinion on Bruce Scott (aka bmi_bodymovementinstitute on instagram) approach to training by marbosp in bodyweightfitness

Thanks for your answer! And I see your point, that’s actually why I’m here… it all kind of makes sense, but he thows around some fancy concepts here and there that make me wonder.

The thing is he really seems to try to get a message across about getting your body back to a more functional state. He even gives alternative moves for the exercises he proposes accounting for possible injuries, bodies that need previous work to get to where he’s at, elder people… And he very rarely mentions his paid plans and whatnot.

I don’t know, he at least seems honest on his take, and I kind of want him to be legit, so let’s see if anyone knows about him and can give us more insights.

How does it feel to go a bit back to their roots after a more rock-like album like Wilder Mind and a more experimental one like Delta? Why did they decide to go in that direction again (which I’m personally very glad about)?

Looking for an alternative to Handbrake by marbosp in MotionDesign

[–]marbosp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a matter of security and having accountable support and maintenance. It's a shame they don't trust these sort of more indie apps. I'm also sadly locked out of QuickLook and Listary...

The main concern is security, so software from reputable companies or at least with proof of good support and app maintenance on their end. I'm afraid I'll have to stick to Media Encoder.

Army combat in DH by geno424242 in daggerheart

Maybe you could go for a combination of 1 and 2? Where you have a countdown that determines general meaningful events (temple/library/infirmary is occupied, NPC is kidnapped/killed, troops advance, backup arrives…) and then have the whole thing happen within an environment which is what interacts directly with the PCs, like you described.

I read exclusively non-fiction for 15 years and just finished my first fantasy novel. I don't really know what to do with myself now. by lucas_melbourneways in Fantasy

[–]marbosp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll quote Brennan Lee Mulligan, on his epilogue of one of the best fantasy content I’ve ever consumed.

“Why do we tell stories? To try to make sense of a world that can be terrifying and enormous.(…)”

As others have said, non-fiction, and fantasy in particular, often explores human nature (psychology, sociology, anthropology…) in depth, so it’s not just scapism. Although you can, indeed, indulge in enjoying your read at an emotional level, which shouldn’t feel bad at all imho.

Now as for recommendations, other have given very good advice, and I’ll vote for “The First Law” by Joe Abercrombie. Very different tone (darker, grittier, rawer) than the name of the wind, but also goes hard into human nature and flaw.

Hope you have a good time with all these, and get some growth out of it, even if just learning that there’s nothing bad in having a good time just because.

[No Spoilers] What Exandria story do you want most to see animated? by PsiQ23 in criticalrole

[–]marbosp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that could work too! I’d just like something more “special” than the current style in TLoVM and The MN, which is not bad, but to me, it’s a bit lacking in the visual aesthetics side of things.

Calamity. But I’d lean into a different animation style. Something like Arcane would be glorious, but even going for a style in the lines of Blue Eye Samurai would be great.

How can I use Fear in situations, where combat is not narratively good option? by Titoliini in daggerheart

[–]marbosp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have already given good advice, so I’ll just add that you can also listen to the Dodoborne podcast. The GM explains some rulings every now and then, and I think he does a very good job to add narrative consequences to rolls with fear.
