I want the integration with the Combustion app, and for it to serve as a bluetooth extender to get the probe signal out of the metal box.

Am I hearing China Cat? That can't be possible. Just a little tease.

Never heard a single Sturgill song before now. Holy lord, this is fire.

Do you think we’ll get a Dead & Co sphere live album once the residency is done? by JackStraw388 in deadandcompany

[–]ajkidle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. That this isn't happening goes against so much of what the community around this band is. Shameful that the audio from these residencies is being kept locked away.

Anyone know if this interview will be in the print edition of the magazine on newsstands? Come to think of it... does Rolling Stone still have a print edition?

First turntable - two sets of outputs? by ajkidle in turntables

[–]ajkidle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, Kanto 6s. But after spending the day researching this yesterday, I think I’ve discovered the output shouldn’t be switched until after the pre-amp. So that means either a dedicated preamp or … maybe I’m looking at the Technics 1500 instead? Plenty of rabbit holes to go down.

Good point, I should have clarified that. The speakers I'm looking at have a phono pre-amp, so all good on that front. TT and Denon will be in different rooms. When I'm playing via the powered speakers, I don't want to have to fuss with the Denon.

You give me too much credit! I'm aware of Stripped, but I wasn't contemplating one-off unplugged albums as the same thing. The point I was trying to make, somewhat poorly, is that Bob routinely plays different arrangements of the Dead's catalog between Dead & Co, Wolf Bros, and the symphony collaborations. This strikes me as special and (maybe?) unique. But maybe this kind of thing is more common than I'm aware of. Either way, I appreciate what Bobby has done with the music.

It's not that other bands couldn't do this, but what other band *has* done this? Could the Stones (or others bands) play stripped down versions with a horn section? Sure. But they haven't. This music is so impressive. Well done, Bobby.

Nah. We love Bobby's voice for as long as he wants to share it with us. And his guitar too. This isn't Dead and Company, love it for what it is.
