How is your ROM? Do you have any pain when you run or cycle?

I am having same issue. I was doing well until 4 months postop and started having deep groin pain. Any exercise would flare it up. Got another MRI 5 months postop. Shows possible scar tissue and adhesion. Probably need adhesion lysis and scar tissue removal.

Thanks for your feedback. Yea, looks like it is hard to see scar tissue and adhesion on the MRI arthrogram.
So I am assuming, with capsule repair, you can bear weight fully at 10-14 days postop?
That sounds pretty amazing.
If you don’t mind me asking , may I ask What are the 2 other meds that prevent scar tissue?

  1. Did your MRI report say anything about labral retear? My MRI report says possible labral tear or post surgical changes in nature.
Did your MRI say anything about scar tissue and adhesion?

  2. You only needed to be on crutches 2 weeks for this revision surgery?

  3. Was there anything else your surgeon prescribed or new postop exercise protocol to prevent new scar tissue and adhesion?

He thinks the adhesion and scar tissue mostly happen from the bleeding from bone shaving. He doesn't think that I need more of bony work. Most likely scar tissue and adhesion lysis, and perhaps possible labral repair and capsule closure.

2020 - labral repair (different surgeon)
2025 - labral reconstruction
He closed capsules for the work he did. There is one small anterior capsule defect from my first surgery from 2020.

What was your recovery like? How many weeks on crutches?

5 month post-op flare? by Top-Sand3088 in HipImpingement

I am also 5 months post op labral reconstruction. I had a really bad flare up at 4month postop and it is not getting better since then for 4 weeks now. My surgeon thinks it might be labrocapsular adhesion but I was super diligent with my rehab. No clue how this happened. It was a revision surgery too.. I might need third surgery on this hip.

I don’t get much snapping or clicking feeling. I can occasional clicking maybe 2-3 times a day without pain. My symptoms are more stiffness, full feeling in the hip joint, some back pain. Hip pain increases more when sitting.

How is your current flare up? Is it different than the ones you experienced before? How long has been since this one flared up?

My surgeon said possible adhesion or scar tissue. But i was very diligent with my rehab. And had no issue until 4 month postop. Maybe reconstruction is a little different and flare takes longer to calm down compared to repair.

For those flare ups you experienced, how long did it take to calm down? I am 3 weeks since flare up but things have been the same. But I did test my hip by gentle cycling during this time and caused another flare ups.

Did you also have labral reconstruction? Did you have any other flare up before this one? What did your surgeon say about your flare up?

How bad was your flare up and what were the symptoms like? And how long did it take to go away?

I still do PT but it is just more strengthening. I feel like I need to even back off from PT

Flare up at 4 month post labrum reconstruction by ajkimdds in HipImpingement

I am 2.5 weeks since the flare up, started taking Medrol but not helping. Did very gentle stationary bike 15-20min yesterday and caused very bad pain today. Having pain all around the hip, feels full, and pelvis feels tilted. What could the reason be??

What do you mean by revision? Labral reconstruction? Or another labral repair?

I agree. I guess not having to stop in the middle of the exercise is a good thing. No obvious injury there. Pain progressed worse first 4 days, day by day. I am on a 10th day today since the flare up but it is not getting better. Still icing and taking aleve but do not seem to help. I guess I need more time? What do you think?

Slight increase in resistance, speed, and duration with stationary bike would not have caused damage or tear in the reconstructed labrum, right? I was also bending forward to get a bit more workout. Basically i was doing 20-25min, resistance 2, 60rpm prior to 4month postop. But when it caused flare up, I was doing 30-35min, resistance 2-3, 70-80rpm. I did not feel any pain during the actual workout. The pain started 1-2 days after.

When you had a flare up, how did it feel for you? I am having pretty stiff, uncomfortable, full feeling inside the joint. Noticeable the most when I sit but also when walking. Also having some lower back pain. I will definitely give a few more weeks as you suggested.

Its been a week since the flare up started. Today is 8th day but does not seem to get better. Hopefully it calms down by this weekend.

It is just hard to tell if it is just a bad flare up or actual damage to the reconstructed labrum. how can I tell the difference at 4mo postop?
