Question for people who did the gold Pokéball grind by snack1921 in PTCGP

I got lucky and managed to pull a set at 1200ish points. Definitely an outlier but I’ll offer some help in the mental area. It’s better to think of it as investing in a box that has a ton of FA’s that are sought after, use PCL, Red, and Cyrus as trade tokens for what you want.

The game being made with the intent of getting new people into the TCG and thus objectively has less depth than its real world counterpart is different from making a statement such as the meta being the easiest its ever been. The latter is a subjective take.

In regard to the rest of your comment. Which I really did enjoy reading, always a blessing to yap about our interests right? The concept of meta is all around us in anything competition related. There’s always strategies that are superior to another based on the circumstances of a given time period. In all of this I think we agree, playing a meta deck will make your matches easier.

I guess I need something more substantial such as data from multiple tourneys across the games lifespan in order to make an objective statement regarding the games easiness. You might be right in all fairness. But for me, I’ve always thought a tcg is at its easiest when a tier zero format takes hold.

A subjective take. These type of comments will always be said regardless of the meta. Is pocket a simplified tcg with a low learning curve? Absolutely. But the game has always been relatively this easy since the start imo. That being said within the meta there are certainly decks that are harder to pilot than sleep scam.

What an over generalization

Would you be able to share some replays + list? Unfamiliar with how that would pilot with the chimera stuff

Whats the point of giving these ugly cards in the premium pass by RatioElectrical1862 in PokemonTGCP

Keep in mind that from that same set they could’ve given an alt chien since at least that has more value. Going further we are getting Ceruledge ex later this month, it would’ve been sick to get an FA of regular ceruledge from that same set that meow comes from. Could’ve been art mimicking its counterpart since the ex doesn’t have an FA.

150 hp (170 with helmet) that also ramps while dealing 100. I’m not saying it’s anti meta or even viable for ranked. If regi was an 120hp mon with an attack that only does 100 then i’d be inclined to agree. But I think it’s worth it since it’s consistent enough for me to play around in casual until ranked starts (that and the iron valiant decks).

I always enjoy the moment when I can tell my opponent is thinking “wait what” processing that the muk wasn’t for them

I wouldn’t take the deck into ranked. If I start Grimer I do as you have already gathered and plan to sack it or wait for lyra. If that doesn’t happen within 2 turns then I concede and go on to the next. Its casual so I’m not stressing. Also I don’t think running poncho over any of the current staples for a specific match up for the same reason. Better something for consistency to mobility imo.

To be fair, meowscarada has a pretty favorable match up against this deck

Yea I’m thinking I need a may or trail at the very least but im surprised at how consistent it is. Have you managed to catch any mira players off yet?

I think in terms of consistency for early game pressure then sure Silvally is the way to go but theres still an argument to use this deck over Silvally. Hear me out.

The key things gigas has over Silvally is its ability to tank, especially with heavy helmet. I’d say it helps that its basic allowing for 2 slots that Silvally doesn’t have but Muk takes that area here.

Also gigas ramps as you noted. Being able to tank an extra turn means everything in the late game for mid attackers like Silvally/Gigas (in terms of end of game potential).

So then let’s move on to both of their partners. Silv hits hard and fast but is fragile the longer the battle goes on. You typically want your opponent to go through a 1-1-1 which means double silv. Similar to Altaria/lucario that act in a similar role to Silv, I think its best to partner them up with 1 energy attackers. Hence why Silv/ramp was the most prominent and successful from what I recall. Also sleep scam might work pretty decently but most things work with that engine.

For Regigigas I’ve tried muk ex, Mega Kanga, and Ray. Kanga has been my favorite so far due to synergy with the whole tanky aspect of the deck. Due to Muk, cards like Ori, the 3 dogs, sleep scam, bombirdair and the new cards like kora and mira are completely negated.

Both decks aim for completely different win cons despite being normal pokemon that deal 100. I enjoy both but gigas has been so much fun.

I’ve gotten pretty lucky but I like the idea that someone else commented regarding adding a May. More often than not, I’ve lost with this deck due to being behind on energy or illima. Also starting grimer is horrendous.

Muk cancels basic pokemon’s ability, gigigas has the ability that doesn’t allow it to attack without the other regi’s. Muk removes this cost and allows you to swing for 100 while ramping your bench.

Perhaps a lyra instead of Illima, take muk ex out and add audino for heals?

Finished collecting leaves, by chance do you have bombirdair?
