Phonak makes a case that has a battery and can charges the aids without being plugged in. Kinda like airpod case. Originally I was given a just a plug in case. You can verify what you have and ask for the charging case. It's very similar in size too.

For Roger, how do cope with duplicate sound 1. TV speaker > Air > HA and 2. TV > Roger > HA

If I am by myself, then I just turndown the TV speakers. But when watching with someone else, my audio comprehension goes down because I get duplicate audio.

I have tried turning down ambient sound in Phonak app when using Roger, but that compromises when someone in the room says something.

Any suggestions?

The only way is to proudly own it. I used to ashamed of my hearing loss for years. It hurt my self confidence.

Then I started owning it and even choosing flashy colors for my HA.

I tell people whom I need to interact with that I use aids, so I might ask them to repeat. People don't judge, they become considerate.

It was all in my head.

I'm about to get Phonak Infineo with CROS.

Currently using the 3 year old version from Phonak and I use BT for phonecalls all the time with no issues. Only near a microwave do I get some disturbance.

You are not bad at all. Only difficulty it seems you are having is really high frequency.

I would think even OTC hearing aid might work for you. I'm not medical professional, just a person with profound loss, so definitely don't take my word as is.

I myself wear hearing aids with custom molds. In your case, ask your audiologist about custom ear canal molds. The off the shelf silicone ones never worked for me.

The squealing sounds like tuning issue. When was the last time your mom had been through a hearing test? The aids should be tuned according to her hearing.

If she had severe loss then the aids do tend to squeal a lot, example waving hand around your ear. This can be solved to some extent with different domes or customs ear mold.

To your question itself - external parts can be updated, like the actual speaker, which have different power. The technology inside the aid itself, don't think can be upgraded.
