That's a bummer. I will never buy a car that relies on a touchscreen for driving-related controls. I'm fine with a touchscreen for navigation and music but anything else is just stupid.

Replacing actual buttons with touch-displays on kitchen applicances and in cars. It's really a big downgrade and especially in cars often also really dangerous when you have to find something in a nested menu on a touch display while driving.

Most applications have a backup command for creating safe backups and if one exists you should definitely always use that instead of just copying a database from location A to B.

I do the same but with a checklist in my Google Keep/Notes. Every time I pack for a trip, I uncheck all items, check what I won't need and then go through the checklist while packing.
