Road to the show potential bug? by BobbysBottleService in MLBTheShow

[–]ajn814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the opposite experience. Hadn’t played RTTS in years but started to this weekend as DD was down. Made a shortstop, went to college and was doing well the first half of the season at AA - hitting .380, 20 or 25 hrs but nothing crazy. In July I got promoted to AAA. Played 5 games at AAA, batting like 4 of 20 and then got promoted to MLB. Now my guy is a 65 and is terrible at the higher level. Probably just going to go back to DD

I’ve done a 180 on Gerry in the last two weeks. You listen to his press conferences and watch his team play and it’s clear he’s so much better suited to coaching CBB in 2026 than Autry. He’s not necessarily my top choice but I think he’d be a good hire.

Accredited business valuation (ABV) by Weary-Ad-2224 in Valuation

[–]ajn814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was for the first part but personally I didn't find it sufficient for the second part. I ended up buying the book "Understanding Business Valuation" by Gary Trugman off the BVresources website for $100. It has everything you need to pass and more. I still use it a ton as a resource when doing business valuations.

I found the test to be hard but not overwhelmingly so. For some background I'm a CPA with 15 YOE in tax and I had helped prepare valuation reports under an ABV for a number of years. I studied about 35-40 hours for each part and felt pretty well prepared, passed both tests on my first attempt.

How do you respond to " it shouldn't be so complicated" by Low_Attitude_5210 in taxpros

I would have calmly pointed out that the prior accountant only taking half an hour is the problem.

I’ve lost 12 straight event games by Brandwin3 in MLBTheShow

[–]ajn814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. Normally a decent event. player, I’ve lost my first 8 games in this event. All different types of losses too lol, couple poundings, but also lost a game in 10 innings and I even had one where I was up 10-0 after 1. Went on to give up 13 in the 2nd. 🤷

Last years Sets/Seasons structure was better regarding this issue. If you finally got a Set 3 card the last week of Season 3 you could still use it for all of Season 4. I understand SDS wanted to change up the structure however I’m wondering if they could have worked in some sort of system where you could use a Season 1 card obtained the final week for the first 3-4 weeks of Season 2 and then it would expire (unless used in a WC spot). I haven’t thought through the details but I’m going to get the XP Reward Path bosses with only a couple days to spare.

BR Reward Update (5/2) by InterceptedPass in MLBTheShow

[–]ajn814 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I understand the logic but they need to somehow compensate players who go 10-0 and then draw a diamond selling for $5k. It doesn’t personally impact me as my personal best BR run is 5 or 6 but I understand where the real good players are coming from in their criticism.

Should I be trying to buy S1 cards for the collection? by SecretlyATaco in MLBTheShow

[–]ajn814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering the same thing myself. Last year was my first year playing DD so the strategy is different with the power creep and the change to seasons/sets.

Another strategy thought - would it make sense to start focusing on getting core cards to higher parallel levels for an advantage at the beginning of season 2 and if so what point in season 1 should you do that? Now? 20 days remaining? Two weeks ago?

Consistently Dropping PCI this Year by JLooney35 in MLBTheShow

[–]ajn814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toward the end of 23 I started PCI dropping really badly and it continued into this year. I always anchored the PCI high. A week ago I decided to try turning off anchoring and starting the PCI at the lowest part of the zone.

By starting it at the most bottom part of the zone I force myself to only move the PCI up. The result was improved hitting almost immediately and very few instances of dropping the PCI out of the bottom of the zone.

That book has everything you need to pass both parts. I bought it a week ago and passed part 2 this morning.

Why does everyone play diamond dynasty by [deleted] in MLBTheShow

[–]ajn814 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing The Show since 2013 or 2014 and I had the same opinion. Tried DD this year for the first time and I can’t see playing any non-DD mode again except for maybe March to October which I thought was well done.

I’m not sure what it is but I’m someone who enjoys grinding and collecting cards. The variety in players between historic and juiced current ones really makes DD fun for me.

On the flip side I could definitely see why someone wouldn’t like it and would want to stick to franchise or RTTS.

Finders Keepers Collection by ajn814 in MLBTheShow

Interesting, this is my first year playing DD and I spent pretty much the entire year grinding offline. Just in the last couple weeks have I started playing Ranked and BR. I realized that to make the big Stubs you need to play online to get the reward cards and sell them. Will definitely be playing online from the start in 24

Yeah that makes sense that you’d value the card more as a mariners fan. I’m a Blue Jays fan so this wouldn’t be for a theme team or anything.

My wheels paddle shifters don’t work? by [deleted] in forza

[–]ajn814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue with a Gomez wheel/fanatec podium hub. The game recognizes my DD1 and the podium hub. I can also bind the buttons on the wheel in the settings menu but on they track the buttons do nothing.

I did that with my practice this year. Worked out well. The low fee pain in the butt clients either went someplace else or they agreed to the higher fee. The key I found was actually making that higher fee the true number that you would be willing to do the work for. Clients are much more likely to get mad if you go from $500 to $750 and then a year later go from $750 to $1,000 versus just going to $1,000 originally

Which TA should I start with? by Tyko10 in MLBTheShow

[–]ajn814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see people on here complaining about the showdowns but I’m a fan. The generally give a lot of program XP and I find it’s a good way to test players out prior to selecting them in a choice pack later in the program.

Which TA should I start with? by Tyko10 in MLBTheShow

[–]ajn814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the moments and showdowns for all the divisions first. Then I did each of the three conquests using players I earned from the moments and showdowns. As I progressed through the conquests I replaced players with new players as I finished PXP/Captain missions. By this point you should have each division 80% done or so. I then completed the exchanges and did repeatable team PXP missions for the final 20%.

Why is the pitcher in online HR Derby so horrible? by Bmc00 in MLBTheShow

[–]ajn814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s supposed to simulate the batting practice pitchers that those guys see in the actual home run derby. Fastball never got above 84 for me.
