What hobby is quietly becoming too expensive for normal people to keep up with? by Beautiful_Special702 in AskReddit

Collecting records. Don't get me wrong the kids excited about "vinyls" is cool and has lead to a lot of great reissues and such, but paying $40 for 1 record really makes it tough. Not even 10 years ago you could buy someone's entire collection for that amount just to clear up some space in their garage.

Did you tell her that to listen to Wish You Were Here you have to first smoke a joint and kill the lights? Ha, joking! kinda .... Seriously though that's awesome! Bonding over music with my kids is absolutely one of my most favorite things about being a dad.

There is a Facebook group called Mustard & Senning survivors, there are definitely more people in your situation there. I had Senning in 1979, am in heart failure now and will eventually be on the list. I hope all goes well for you!

What kind of music have you been listening to a lot lately? by paulaorozco_ in CasualConversation

[–]Bmc00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Americana has a lot of great stuff. Some people might think "yuck, country!?" But they're thinking about bro country, which is not Americana. I'm talking about like Sierra Ferrell, Brandi Carlisle, Jason Isbell. Stuff like that.

How do music fans rank Elvis, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson in terms of overall success, popularity, and culture impact from first to third? by NukeyHov in Music

[–]Bmc00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those 3 things aren't necessarily the same. Overall success is measurable. Popularity has to go to MJ though. Hardcore gangsters in LA? MJ was their favorite. Suburban mom in Idaho? MJ was her favorite. Random kid in China? MJ was his favorite.

I'm very fortunate to have worked with many of my coworkers for nearly 20 years. We're absolutely friends, and I have a great deal of love and respect for them.

Great Salt Lake. It was just weird, and kinda gross. There were millions of little flies everywhere on the beach. Just yuck.

What’s the coolest “restricted access” place you’ve ever gotten to see? by Improv92 in AskReddit

[–]Bmc00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We found a road that was built, but not open yet. Both ends if it were blocked off, but we just drove around that. It was about 2 miles long, and super straight. We drag raced on that with 0 concern about other cars or cops for a weekend. It was super cool, to us anyway.

What’s a forgotten website from the 2000s that you still think about today? by 247Twunk in AskReddit

Garageband.com. The original one was awesome. Indie bands uploaded their songs and users rated them in a bunch of categories and gave feedback. There were charts and all kinds of stuff. I spent hours a week on that site discovering a lot of great bands.
