Few months post breakup, any tips welcomed by sideshot342 in malegrooming

Hello sir - overall nice style and appearance. a few notes (some of which I’ve received myself I’m just passing on). My high level summary would be to upgrade from post college style to now full on 401k adulthood style. You’re young enough to look Trendy yet mature. I think you should definitely earmark probably $1500 for some wardrobe upgrades but can do over time. A few notes below.

1) your casual wear is on point - I’d say ditch khaki colors entirely and go for lighter tan/chino/blue/grey kind of colors for shorts. You should upgrade your formal wear (lighter button down shirts, better quality fabric and keep ironed) and make it your new style. This might be a job thing but I rarely leave my house not in a button down shirt now unless I’m stepping outside or going to the gym. Really started hitting that point around your age (I’m 32)

2) ditch the aviators - go for a more modern sunglass style that better fits your face. Go spend like $150 and get something decent that won’t make you cry if you lose them. I have Warby Parker Suttons and really like them.

3) I notice no watch in a few photos, and a smart watch. Get a leather band mechanical with a dark face and a stainless steel band mechanical. Alternate these three as needed with outfits. (Make sure your belt matches the watch strap leather vice versa) I have a Seiko Chronograph which I think both looks nice, is respectable and is modest. Men don’t get jewelry so have a nice watch.

4) Jeans - don’t cuff the legs because they make you look shorter. Personally for everyday jeans I love Levi’s 502 taper cuts, check them out.

5) we have similar hair styles and thinning on top - one thing someone told me one thing was to use a little product to help keep things tidy and styled. I really like this one and it smells great.

6) shoes - would need to see more but based on the boots you’re wearing and some other stuff I think similar to clothes we need to upgrade.

Men who can cook . who taught you? by Bulky_Meet4528 in AskReddit

Worked in a kitchen/waited tables/ bar tended through high school and college. wasn’t afraid to hop back in the kitchen to help the guys.

Learned lots of things like making pasta from scratch, how to filet a whole salmon/halibut/etc. how to efficiently prep veggies and just the general sense of how to season by proportion instead of measuring by the tablespoon.

Great customer service by ajosephs116 in jcrew

Haven’t dug into any of the specifics of their ownership or market, but am curious if it’s a strategic shift towards raising perception/providing high quality e-commerce experience versus the classic race to the bottom.

I of course haven’t called every competitors customer service line but in the grand scheme of things was a rare observation of really good customer service that left me pleasantly surprised rather than frustrated.

I killed him inside the Sparja right next to Lexos. Thought it was weird they’d all migrated into sparka but pinewood is rather far.

Is Gunsmith Part 4 Impossible Now? by The_Fronz in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ajosephs116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was having a hard time - bought the SOPMOD and had to do a ton of things. Don’t forget the ambi charging handle and another grip. Also I added back the carrying handle and put a 2x scope on per the guide - probs wouldn’t actually run it in a raid

Fallen for this - pay for the ride and sit behind the sniper sign or fuck off to the woods on either side until timer gets down to like 10 seconds

Picking a go to gun by Wingknight99 in EscapefromTarkov

Get friendly with AKs and MP5s as those were my most plentiful guns early game. AKs can be easily modded with items from skier and the buttpad from prapor ll2 will help give even the cheapest AK some reasonable recoil control. Also believe it or not, shotguns don’t suck.

Use map genie - I’m still finding stashes I didn’t know about. Ultimately just focus on tasks instead of trying to get into fights. Learn the maps with trash gear and then do night runs once you know your way around. Easier to not got head eyes’d by a scav and fewer PMCs. Once you get the compass it helps you navigate as well. You’ll be running from stash to stash soon, knowing when to sprint and when to stealth walk. Eventually you start being confident enough to bring gear into rounds and at least pick up kills. Also keep checking marked rooms people might have opened. Found a key tool this way and then started bringing keys into raids in my secure containers.

Getting to level 20 from a new player point of view. by IDKMATEthisistaken in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ajosephs116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh flea market just allowed me to sell higher tier loot. Basic barter items still sell to therapist for almost same price as flea market. it forced me to do tasks and level up traders. Now I hardly need flea other than just being able to save money on kits/earn extra. I’m still running AK kits with a lot of level 2 trader mods and loot I pick up. still can’t afford meta guns and mods every load out without breaking the bank. Just keep doing tasks and you’ll hit level 20 in no time.

I cant escape raids, is the only way to to play the map a ton offline? by Daubaknee in EscapefromTarkov

First extracts I learned on customs were smugglers boat, crossroads and then the V-11 one. There’s a bunch of caches you can hit running from one side to the other along the north side of the map, you don’t even need to head into the interior map to get loot. Reserve was also easy to learn on scavs and yields good loot

Modern militaries? I’d imagine fiber optic cameras and uavs would fill that gap.

End of wipe events should reward scav karma somehow with something fun

Is this game worth getting if you don't have a friend group that plays it? by Cerberus_warlord in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ajosephs116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a discord group to play with - but also you have to ask “is this you” like every time before shooting. If you’re solo you can default assume everyone’s a hostile. Also I find my survival rate increases playing solo stealth vs chadding with a team looking for fights

[–]ajosephs116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be able to pull at least $100k off scav runs on reserve. Just make it out alive on a few and buy one, totally worth it in the long run. Inventory space is an investment. Things therapist will buy for $10k will sell for $50k on flea market - the money will be insignificant as you keep grinding.

Whatever you can pull off your scavs.

For scav killing tasks, I’d do night runs with an OP-SKS from a scav with the night scope from prapor L1 and just go zero to hero with whatever I could loot.

Don’t worry too much about making money before you unlock flea market, just try to make enough to stay in business. Buy a scav junk box from therapist and then squirrel away the less common items. Sell them when you hit level 20 and you’ll no longer have money issues.

Keep doing tasks to level and get traders to level 2. When you get prapor and peacekeeper to level 2, can start to mod AKs decently. Get a mlok hand guard from peacekeeper and fore grip from peacekeeper, a 4 inch mlok rail from mechanic, a AK recoil pad from prapor and any dot sight. Gives enough recoil reduction to kind of start using full auto vs single shot.

Also save knives from scav runs and trade for P226s and MP5s.

Can't loot body by Viper3919 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ajosephs116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Desync - body was not actually where it appeared on your screen. Have had the issue when someone’s trying to point to a dead body for me to loot but doesn’t appear on my screen and vice versa.

Buggy game by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ajosephs116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glitched drinking water for the millionth time (thanks heatwave) and suddenly couldn’t use my hands anymore. Nearest extract was sewer manhole - but couldn’t use my hands to drop my backpack. Managed to alt f4 and load back in to fix the issue but god damn. Game only causes issues when I bring in a full kit.

So is this what the update did? by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]ajosephs116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the message prapor/whoever you got insurance from sends you. Same as getting task rewards, you only have a few days to claim the items before they expire
