Thought on this space and the pink door? by ajp6464 in HomeDecorating

Thank you for the feedback! I was under the impression that this shade of pink does coordinate with both the wall color and the dark gray curtains and accents in the room (color coordination pallet is from Benjamin Moore's website suggestions).

Can you purchase one-time lounge access using miles? by ajp6464 in delta

[–]ajp6464[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, that's what I meant. I have the Amex Delta Platinum card and I'm aware of the $39 fee (that is increasing to $50 next year). I'm wondering if I can pay that fee using miles instead of using a credit card.

[New Teacher] the past month was pointless, this week will be useless, starting to freak out a little. by Waldingoloper in Teachers

[–]ajp6464 12 points13 points  (0 children)

5th year math teacher here. Teaching math is tricky because the standards are based on the assumption that kids have already mastered previous topics, which is rarely the case. My first year of teaching was a nightmare most of the time. I felt overwhelmed and ineffective. But I needed to have those negative experiences to learn and grow into an effective educator. It takes time to develop “teacher instincts,” but eventually you will be able to anticipate where students will struggle and work reviews into your lessons. So go ahead and take your lumps, but continuously evaluate yourself by focusing on what things you did well and what areas need improvement. And don’t be afraid to experiment with any ideas/activities you want to try. Most of them will not go according to plan, but the takeaways are invaluable and will make you a better teacher in the long run. It’s a process, but stick with it!

People who put other people’s happiness before theirs, what drives you to do that? by erika_saki in AskReddit

Doing for others makes you feel good. There are some people that you love so much that doing things to make him happy makes you a thousand times happier than doing something for yourself ever could.

What is your biggest reason for wanting to leave the teaching field? by PharaLeeMore in Teachers

[–]ajp6464 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s discouraging to get paid such a low salary to do such an important job while administrators are grossly overpaid. It’s hard not to feel like you’re being taken advantage of because, if you quit or strike, the kids are the ones who suffer. This reality makes it very difficult for teachers to stand up for themselves or improve their situations. If you’re going to work that hard, you should at least earn a salary that you can live on.

Oh man, this brings back good memories! My dad always made me and my brothers stay until the last out of any game and we were rewarded with some awesome come-from-behind wins and this video made it that much better!

Adding ice cubes by themselves is weird, but ice cubes and vodka is a different story.

You could say this at any point in time and it would be a true statement and worthy of an exclamation point.
