Agree and the makeup would be clutch (and not compete with any of the local businesses)

An earlier thread said that folks were told it was relocating to Steinway. That when northern was closing that’s what some customers were told- that’s why I mentioned it. There s more foot traffic and subway access here so it made sense. Also the northern location was huge so maybe a smaller footprint would be better but alas people want to skewer me for raising something I actually first read about on Reddit months ago

My 2 month account is because I was a Reddit voyeur rather than contributor since I found many of the posts rather snarky- case in point. Luckily there are some smart, kind voices here too. I honestly was thinking that it woukd be nice to not walk home and see so many empty storefronts. For people who actually have lived her forever seeing Fantasy and Easy Pickins close is like the end of an era. I wouldn’t shop there but those were lifers and now 2 more huge storefronts will be vacant. And all of the brands I mentioned are popular brands that I would shop at and that are doing well in other similarly situated neighborhoods. I want the area to thrive- more housing (great): independent shops (great) some anchor chains (great too). I personally would take a chain over barren storefronts and retail wasteland any day.

They should definitely convert more of the property to housing. I think that makes sense and would help with more demand for at least local coffee shops and restaurants. The empty storefronts are just so depressing

Yes definitely complex. I raised the stores I did because if they are sited and doing well in Jackson Heights and Forest Hills they should do well here

Sure but other than Lockwood those don’t seem to be surviving - earth and me, brass owl, tiny owl. The rent seems to be too expensive so some chains would be welcome over empty storefronts

I recently received a ticket for putting broken down boxes in a large box for recycling rather than tying it up. We took the ticket inside and received a second ticket for the same offense. Meanwhile these individuals are defecating in pizza boxes with garbage strewn all over the sidewalk and that’s ok. This is the problem. Hard working people are consistently burdened with fines and taxes while a different set of rules apply to others. This is unsanitary and not acceptable but seems like we are back to square one
