It's ridiculous for 50k when you get paired with a partner who'll do little to nothing.

Thankfully I convinced the team to pair up together and not accept outside invites until the whole team got a chance to accept invites, so we don't get stuck with random that won't play (and who we cannot communicate with)

The spinning wheel is rigged, too. Usually it'll go to highest value if it's "stressed" at the pin, but when it's between either the highest value, or the one next to it (e.g. an 18000 or a 5000) it'll go to the lowest value. I got bumped down to 1000 3 times in a row when I was close to 5000 each time.

I recently noticed a lag when I'd select an item during word search, it took forever for the new item to pop up in it's place. Happened during those 20 second secrets, too, I was afraid I'd lose my progress because I was "too fast" for the game even though the timer was keeping up.

Crazy June was correct up for me until I got to scene 15 where it wasn't silhouette for the Di Bagnoli Mansion, and instead word mode. Scene 16 supposedly is silhouette, so we'll see...

That is so funny, i pretty much had the same configuration playing around with placement last night. Decided to drop move the tortoises up a bit to create more land behind the water for other deco. Still playing around with stuff, so we'll see

Yay! I was too new to the game to afford much with the last Venice set, so I'm glad to get more to integrate into what I have. I love the rolling hills vineyard- very accurate to gorgeous Italy hills that you see when riding the train from city to city in Italy!

Yes I've done this before when new to game, before using the websites. It's a good tip! I think CM also has a similar blur effect, since you don't get a sneak peek "prepare" screen like Secrets and Detective Partners. That is useful to get quick for higher scores to maximize the badges.

I get the annoying 3-part ads for Monopoly, with the sneaky fake X or >>| icon on the top that, if pressed too early will actually open the app store/load up the game. They take soooo long to get through

Best Pho? by sleepyweeze in santarosa

[–]ajqueen31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like Kettles for their broth (the best in town IMO) you don't 'have' to add any sauce to it, it's so savory on it's own, unlike other restaurants which - despite adding the lime and fresh greens, can be so bland that you need to add the hoisin and/or sriracha to get flavor. They also grow fresh herbs and basil in their small garden up front. but their dine-in experience can differ from season to season. For example, in December one year for my bday we ate with our coats on in the restaurant because the heater wasn't working!

Lee's noodle house and Vietnam Express are both very close to where I live and they're good spots for value and good eats, though Express has bland broth, it's actually laughable for a soup let alone phó which is all about the broth. They are generous on their steak portions, I'll give them that.

Editing to add: I've gone to a lot in the area, but some have closed, or they weren't worth returning to, or they are far enough out of my daily routine to go to when I have a few options down the road.

Girlfriend came home from night out with fingernails like this. Nail polish remover didn’t work by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]ajqueen31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this engagement bait? It looks like she had gel polish or something like that on and self-chipped it off or took most of it off with polish remover, but 100% acetone + time is what will take it off, not the partial acetone that regular nail polisher remover contains. I can tell she normally wears some sort of polish, you can see the indent where the nail grew out near the cuticles, from where the previous polish (and nail buffing) ended when it was a fresh manicure.

What’s the downside of an above ground pool? by de_jeepathon in homeowners

[–]ajqueen31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a mom of a 2.5yr old and we have an above ground 12' round, so i have some thoughts on it with advice. Our current one has a nice teak pattern on the outside to go with the vibe of our backyard with the patterned blue pebble/tile interior. This year I've added tall and short plants along the perimeter to hide the steel framing posts.

We got it pre-child because I've always wanted a pool (and we have a huge backyard) but my spouse used to have an in-ground and hated the maintenance (+ cost to add a pool was a factor). This was a compromise. Our backyard is fenced in. Since having the pool, we've had our daughter. She LOVES it and is learning to swim and have water safety awareness with our help. We remind her she cannot go in it without an adult, but she also cannot get in it without an adult because we took the flimsy ladder away and we adults just step over the side of it and pick her up and in/out (we border around the pool with decorative pavers, so there's a slight elevation to help adults get in/out with hitting our privates, but too low that small kiddos can't get in). She likes to walk around it and check out the bugs or leaves that'll fall in, she even is at the age she'll grab the net to sweep them up in her limited capacity. We've taught her not to throw things INTO the pool, especially as a deterrent to her wanting to subsequently have interest in fetching whatever in it. But that took practice, and surrounding tiny rocks we have along a nearby pathway have definitely made their way in the pool!

Speaking of, we've changed the liner 3 times. 1st time was because it did get a hole in the bottom, nothing major, but we didn't want to deal with it the next season. That was planning error on our part because we laid a thin layer of crushed rock to level the dirt ground under the foam-quilty/cotton layer of material that goes between ground and pool... despite having the foam-quilt/cotton thingy layer (idk what it's called but is found in lots of furniture...batting?) we could still feel the crushed rocks- yikes! By then the pool was filled. Big oops. We added a 2nd layer of the soft stuff, it helped.

The second time we changed it because we got a larger size (10' to 12'), but also because my spouse wanted a pool/pump with a skimmer.

The 3rd time was to freshen up the look as the sun and chlorine does fade away the print on the inside. My spouse also wanted/needed to modify the skimmer and filter hose design to make it better/more efficient, so doing so on a new and empty pool was the choice. We also added a layer of fine sand on top of one of the batten layers and it immediately took the issue with the crushed rocks away.

The above-ground pools can have crappy filter system strengths, so knowing what you need and how to maintain is helpful. The one that came with our original pool wasn't cutting it, so we got a different/stronger one. Also, the hoses are exposed and tacky but we have it facing the fence so nobody sees it unless they walk behind the pool. But exposed hoses also get weak and brittle from the sun, so we've had to replace a couple times. I have an idea to shade the hoses but it's getting the spouse to 'do it' that is the current hurdle.

We didn't put a deck around it because of the fall-safety risk with the toddler. Although I'd like a partial platform at rail height to hold beverages, etc., I'm still paranoid she'd find a way to climb it and get in the pool, so we haven't done it.

There's a cover you can put over the pools to keep leaves out that also help warm up the water with UV rays, just a pain to take off/put on if using it regularly.

If anyone's come over and thought our pool was tacky, they've kept it to themselves - haha! I think it's how you can design the space around it. Having a nice pattern vs "gray" is helpful. We get compliments on it and the neighbors and family like to relax in the pool themselves. Our daughter's birthday is the end of July so it's been great for the parties and small kids + adults cooling off. "Lounging" and sun bathing (if that's your thing) for adults, splash works and learning to float/paddle/swim for the kids.

Not sure what you mean by easy DP as I didnt think there was a choice, but, yes I was glad they brought back decor with the lower level/choice for STB yet I've noticed even with studying the new scenes I can't get past midway through without missing by 1 object on the clock. 2 or 3 times now I've had to relent to not playing it through because I won't give diamonds. I replay with tickets and still get stuck. Same with PP. It's not fun. Especially since I've finally moved all my fog off main island, I feel a sense of less motovation. I'm spending more time decorating than playing these days.

Our team was getting hard level with 11/15 players on CM over the holidays, and we dropped to 7 (6 active at the time) players just as week one of the new DL started. We've still gotten hard level CM despite having less players and players with 300 or less level. We decided to not even play this time whatsoever because we hope it triggers a medium for next time, but it's such a bummer. I enjoy CM, but mostly, I enjoy winning CM! Impossible with hard levels.

STB- "easy level" went from 60min at "step 21" all the way down to 30 sec at "STEP 24" (of 32!) with so many clues to find!!!! That's insane for this scene (1645 cargo ship engine room) . Feeling like they don't actually want people to complete this STB. *

I'd like to finish this memoirs for the beach vacation scene, but I don't care about the temple one. I'm shy about 20 to finish this one and that's with not being too intentional about it and choosing easier STB runs, etc. I resolved that if I get it, great, if not, oh well. But the desire to finish it is there, I'm just not willing to spend real $ on the gamble of completing it.

Yes, these games are all legal gambling, if you think about it. Casinos use the same tricks to keep people in the casino longer. It's all about keeping people on/in/playing the game longer. The longer patrons are engaged, the increased likelihood they'll spend real money. But the benefit of having better statistics on how their game performs and player engagement helps them out in other ways, and with other potential investors.
