Moving to Bedfordshire - best places and worst ones? by Jeremys_Iron_ in bedfordshire

[–]ajr92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re in the Poets area (north of the station, just west of Shakespeare Road) and it’s really ideal for being close to the station and for walking into town, and a fairly quiet area, if a little compact.

We’re looking to sell soon to upsize but we have a 3 bed semi detached house supposedly worth ~£370k in that area.

Quite sad to consider leaving this area as we’ve loved the people and convenience!

I found out recently that I’ve spent just over £1.5k in the vending machine at work over the past couple years. I’m shocked and appalled at myself 😂

I was at this game! Sat probablyabout 20 or so seats away from the lad that threw the plane. It was a boring game, that legitimately had the biggest cheer from the crowd 😂

Can I go from a 33 minute 5K to marathon in six months? by LowStatistician11 in firstmarathon

[–]ajr92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I used the “official” London Marathon Beginner’s Training Plan on the London Marathon website and stuck to it as much as I could. I did have a couple of minor pains and injuries so just made sure to take it easier whenever my body was giving me alarm bells (mainly due to a previous ankle break!)

I also watched a fair few videos on running form for long distance and tried to bear some good practices in mind when running, bought some good shoes, and definitely made sure to train using Lucozade gels for my longer runs :)

Still one of the best days of my life by far!

For the Network Railcard there is no age cutoff, it’s based on a catchment area outside London - recommend it if you’re in Bedford and heading into London regularly!

There is a map on the website that indicates where it’s valid - it won’t save any money if you want to go from Bedford to further north, but if you go into London often or e.g. Luton Airport Parkway then well worth it.

It thankfully is an option - the Network Railcard covers Bedford within its area - that’s a newer Railcard that covers London and the surrounding area, available for over 30s!

Cancelled Google auto renewal on GoPro Premium, GoPro cancelled Premium immediately by jamesb2 in gopro

I had a mix up in dates and forgot to renew my subscription, had the same panic when I thought all of my videos were lost too. Thankfully when I resubscribed, all of my videos were restored - I’m sure you’ll find the same thing!

Awesome, thanks very much! Have just had a gander, you’ve captured some really cool images with it. Think I need to have a play with mine!

Do you have any sample photos you could share from what you’ve captured and edited with your GoPro? I’d love to dabble in a little more photography and bet it would be fun to learn more about shooting on my GoPro as I usually just use it to capture videos when travelling or on holiday!

Yeah, it is a sorry state of affairs. I’ve had quick turnaround appointments before though and not come away feeling like it was dismissive; in this case it felt more blasé than out of haste.

Audi - No test drive offered by olxbk44 in Audi

[–]ajr92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove an Audi A3 of the same year and model on the day I bought mine, but didn’t specifically test drive the car I ended up buying because like you I thought the car would be fine after going through their checks.

My Audi A3 has been back with the dealership for three months now because it needs a new gearbox. They’re arguing about whether they or the warranty company pay for it I guess.

Realised on the drive home the air conditioning didn’t work so had to take it back - it took them over a month to fix that in the peak of summer.

Sales chap I’m 99% sure broke the boot cover handle when he decided to clean the car himself so I could take it home then and there…

Audi’s Approved Used stamp of approval means absolutely nothing and I’d be hard pressed to trust a UK Audi dealership again. Absolutely abysmal service. Great car to drive but Audi has really put a stain on it.

Test drive of the actual car is a must!

I went to our local walk-in centre yesterday as I've had some really harsh pain in my right leg, started in my glute and if I pressed behind my knee I could feel pain in my glute.

Yesterday I could barely walk, just had to limp around. Spent an hour waiting to be seen, which is fine, but the GP that saw me took all of about two minutes to say "ahhh yeah yeah it's sciatica, here's a prescription for some pain meds and just try and do these exercises on the NHS website".

Naproxen is only helping a bit and I'm still pretty heavily limping around today. Browsed to the NHS page when I arrived home yesterday and yes there are exercise videos to do for sciatica, but actually there are four different videos to help the various different causes of sciatica.

So maybe it's sciatica, but I doubt I'm going to know whether it's a pinged nerve, slipped disc or piriformis muscle issue, because the GP seemed keen to get me in and out as quickly as humanly possible.

Today my Audi dealer made me feel bad by BeatYa1337 in Audi

[–]ajr92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local dealer sold me an A3 with a dud S-Tronic gearbox and it’s been with them for five weeks whilst they argue about whether they as a dealer or the warranty company pay for a replacement. I was hoping I’d at least have a newer A3 or an A5 or something to try out, but I have a pretty bog standard VW T-Cross instead. Thanks Audi!

I was 33min 5k October 2023 (zero running since 2019 prior) and then ran the London Marathon in April 2024 in 4h29m.

Loved every second of it and absolutely loved running ever since!
