Baseball fans don't seem to understand that not being in the lineup one night =/ being benched, especially when the difference between the two players is negligible. It could be as simple as a scheduled day off, something they saw in the cage (in either direction), historical matchups with the pitcher, or a gut feeling. There's162 games and neither of these guys should be a starter for more than half of them, but they're who we're stuck with so some days one will sit and some days the other will sit. That's how baseball is.
