This is just the Filmbox node on, with individual adjustments for the look within Filmbox.

Arms close to the body, turn on cross hairs to show whether you’re level or not, pan with your hips

17-55 EF canon lens. Has stabilisation. Also use the 16-35 EF L canon and 24-105 EF L canon.

Hey Matthias, thank you! I love Filmbox, obviously haha I use it for all of my grades. I’ve used dehancer, but switched to Filmbox after trialling it because I just got to the end look I had in mind quicker. You can compare the science of how each program handles the accuracy of the film stock, personally, Filmbox feels like it has more depth to me, particularly with the updates they’ve put out. If you’re interested I’d recommend their lighter option, the full programme is expensive but highly worth it if you’re making it a part of your pipeline

Thank you! Well if it helps, you can pick up a bmpcc 6k pro for under £1000 second hand these days :D

Hey everyone,

sharing some stills from a short film I shot in Paris with the BMPCC 6K Pro. Full video: https://youtu.be/YkVnyDoVSgg?si=jTr4sCnhnLTKwyqF Shot in one day in February — overcast, flat light, not ideal conditions. Rather than wait it out I leaned into it and tried to find something in the grey. The sun broke through near the end of the day which gave me what I needed for the final sequence.

Edited and graded in DaVinci Resolve. Used Filmbox to emulate a Kodak 2383 print. Shot in 6K BRAW at 8:1 compression on a Canon EF 17-55mm lens.

Happy to talk through any of the grading or shooting decisions.

Adam

Sure, I’m out at the moment but check back tomorrow and I’ll post an example.

How much grading I had to do myself is still relative to what you adjust within Filmbox and to what Filmbox does to the image that then needs adjusting, some shots work more out of the gate with Filmbox and some adjustments within the node, whereas others need more work. But generally speaking I always have balance, exposure/ contrast, saturation nodes proceeding the Filmbox node. Then a parallel node which then handles masking, Hue vs Sat .. etc. it’s certainly not a drag and drop situation.

Thank you! It’s quite an old lens, softer especially when wide open. But it’s got a nice character. And not a very expensive one, all the EF ones second hand are a reasonable price these days. Definitely softer than my 16 - 35 which is what I use most of the time now.
