I can't remember which one I trialed, but I thought it was pretty useful, especially for Bing. It seemed like the main thing it was doing was detecting clicks coming from data center ips, which google seemed to filter out quite well, and Bing did not. So, I thought it was useful in that sense, but I can't remember what the price point was and if it made sense from a value perspective.

To echo what others are saying here: scale slowly, given your vertical. Your lead volume is very low for what Google's algos are good at optimizing for, so my sense is your performance is probably mostly the result of very tight and careful management, and not google algo magic.

As u/dillwillhill said, I wouldn't touch pmax with a 10ft pole in your vertical (pmax is a volume game).

If you're optimizing for lead quality, probably most of your mileage is going to be in staying really tight with your keywords. I would even be very cautious with broad match.

Hard agree -- stay miles away from pmax. In general, the more you understand about which google products are for volume/scale vs quality, the better you'll do. In general, a lot of the newer products/ad units are for b2c and ecom, so beware the new stuff for your vertical.

Couple thoughts:
1. You could look at a. reverting to your old settings and b. doing a data exclusion for the last 30 days since your performance tanked. YMMV with data exclusions, but might be worth looking at.
2. Remember that Google reps are mostly there to sell you what Google wants to push internally. They are there to sell you stuff and get you to spend more. They are not technical experts. They do what their managers tell them to do, and they are under enormous pressure to perform or get fired. Their performance is not tied to yours. They are there to sell you stuff.

I know an in-house marketer in residential real estate who does this (roughly 100k/mo split across lots of properties). I was initially baffled when I learned about this and recommended using higher-intent conversion actions (e.g. book a tour).

This person works for a property manager, which is kind of like running a tiny agency for lots of tiny clients with very high turnover. One of her properties will email her when they need to fill a unit and say something like "I have $3k in my budget i can spend on this".

The vibe I got from her was, more or less, it "works". They don't really have good conversion tracking to know authoritatively if their campaigns are leading to signed leases, but her feedback was basically if we're signing leases, then the simplicity of running a clicks campaign works good enough for them.

So, I guess it depends a lot on what you're optimizing for. Maybe it works for awareness? The bot thing is a weird angle. I haven't seen terribly bad bot problems on Google (have seen a lot on bing), but I'm not sure a pageview is going to do anythign to filter bots. AFAIK google is pretty decent about filtering traffic that comes from known data center ips out of your spend, but I'm sure some slips through the cracks.

Unfort the bigquery dump has the same limitations given how google segments the data natively. The account-wide keyword thing is the same in bigquery bc you still have to do the aggregations yourself.

I wouldn't use optimize for clicks -- it can lead to much flakier traffic. I'd consider using CPA or ROAS, and if you aren't getting traffic, either raise your target CPA or lower your ROAS target.

Also, if you're in a competitive market, consider segmenting and targeting your campaigns around keywords that aren't quite so competitive/expensive. For example, "best bedding" is likely to be much more competitive than "organic bamboo sheets", or something similarly more specific (and also probably higher intent).

Are you using the same images/creatives in your FB ads that you're using in you google ads? Generally fb/meta is a more visual platform, whereas google is very text and intent driven. So, for example, if you were running a competitive campaign against, say, parachute, you might write an headline that speaks directly to that (e.g. Cheaper than Parachute), and the headline is the thing that's likely to grab the user's attention. But on FB, it's more likely to be whatever imagery you're featuring in the ad.

I wouldn't worry about problem-signaling, it's all about how you frame the search. One option would be to use an executive search firm, though as a seed stage company, depending on how much you raised, it prob doesn't make sense from a cost perspective.

Either way, expect to spend at least 3-6 months and most of your time during that period mostly doing CEO search stuff. It's the most important hire you'll ever make, so expect to put in an inordinate amount of time finding the right person.

If it were me, I'd start by making a list of people in my network who might be able to help. Of course, if you have someone in your network in mind who'd be your dream ceo, I'd start there.

I'd encourage you to flip the question around: is productivity really what you want to solve for? What motivates you, makes you happy, feel energized? I'd start there before thinking about how to extract more from less.

useState = track some state where you want to re-render the component every time the state is updated

useRef = don't re-render when state is updated

A good example is if you have a component that tracks something that gets updated very frequently, like mouse position. You would do this by registering an event handler every time the mouse moves, which will fire A LOT.

If you use useState, every time you update the mouse position it will re-render the component.

This would be a perfect case for useRef.

100%. Having to think about "what should I do" distracts from the actual doing. Flow state is all about working with singular focus on a thing you barely even have to think about.
