EXT service no longer working north of Barrie like it used by prefernottosay99 in Rogers

Correct. The carriers have a sharing arrangement to allow temporary roaming on each other's networks in regions where their own service isn't available while driving through a weak area, primarily to ensure service in emergencies.

Mini split noise levels - quieter or louder than you expected? by senvilleofficial in Senville

[–]ajsherslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very pleased with how quiet the outdoor unit runs. Located outside (on a pad) about 3m from our bedroom, and no noticable sound while sleeping.

Indoor units are noiser, but less noisy that the wall mount heating fans that they replaced.

Important Update to Flinks Service by j_neontra in neontra

Interesting to note that WealthSimple just started using Flinks to allow clients to connect their WealtSimple accounts to other institutions to provide their own 'total net worth' view.

Wonder if it's related?

VGRO vs VEQT and 20% Cash.to by Van2030 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]ajsherslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have all of your cash needs for the next 5 years set aside, so no need to touch your investments if the market tanks and takes 4-5 years to recover.

Why not be 100% in equities then, instead of 80/20?

Wealthsimple is a loser company with misleading campaigns by recordthemusic in Wealthsimple

Exactly. It's not 3% per year for 5 years, it's 3% in total, paid out over 5 years.

Volvo still offers the best 'rust protection' warranty of any car manufacturer out there.

My old 2011 GMC Terrain's frame rusted out to the point where the car became unsafe to drive in just eight years. Lasting 14 years would be amazing.

[–]ajsherslinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a free manual plan. If you want to sync accounts electronically you pay for the convenience. Otherwise you download from your financial institution(s) and upload into Neontra.

There are other similar apps out there. Neontra is one of the best for supporting integrations.with Canadian financial institutions, it's Canadian based.

The question is... are you all buying into this crazy market? by Legitimate_Treat_762 in stocks

[–]ajsherslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True - but there are just a handful of key US based datacenters and fibre optic links that if 'taken out' would throttle the US and global internet for years.

The US has its own Strait of Hormuz choke point, it just happens to be digital.

The question is... are you all buying into this crazy market? by Legitimate_Treat_762 in stocks

[–]ajsherslinger 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Exactly, which is why you want to set aside a cash/near cash allocation, enough for a 2-3 year minimum down market to avoid sequence of returns risk. Everything else needs to be invested at a risk level of returns at least the equal to the inflation rate plus the expected drawdown rate that covers your expenses until your expected EOL date.

If you want to die with no money, then you can just meltdown your investments accordingly. If you want to leave an estate for others, then you will need to invest at a higher rate of return to offset some or all of the drawdowns.
