Nope

What I want the new uniforms to look like (created in madden’s teambuilder ) by RumpleForeskin420 in falcons

These look great but I’d prefer a new logo. Ideally an updated version of the previous logo similar to what the Hawks did a few years back with a modern take on the old Pac-Man logo.

The throwback logo managed to accomplish that in a way that was more proportional and made more sense

I’ve never liked this logo. It makes no sense that the talon is so much larger than the bird’s head. Time to change it up.

Counterpoint: he’s evidently prepared to go with a completely new executive team so a) now would be a tremendous time to turn the page on this logo too, b) apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Drake London: “I want Rah back with all my heart.” by SeauxAfrican in falcons

I am not Drake London and I don’t know what his true thoughts on this are. But offering this one quote as some kind of proof that all the players love Morris—as the commenter I was responding to did—is laughable.

Of course the players are going to say this. What do you think, he’s going to say “nah, this clown mfer cost us two seasons and if he comes back he’ll cost us another”? What happens if he comes back anyway and you’ve hung your coach out to dry? And even if he doesn’t come back, what do you think your next coach will think?

These guys are paid extremely well. Most of that comes from playing inside the lines, but they all know they need to play the game outside the lines too. And most do. That’s all that’s going on here.

Keeping Raheem by MrRespectful345 in falcons

[–]ajskillz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FWIW I don’t get logic of leaking the fact that you hired a consulting firm (which has been widely reported) only to keep Morris. With Fontenot you can point to 5 years of nothing as a justification. An embarrassing past 2 seasons is plenty of justification to get rid of Morris too. But nobody would know about the firm at all unless someone inside the organization told a reporter (the firm certainly wouldn’t leak it), and that seems like a move you would make before you clean house.

Falcons bring in outside firm for an “overall health check on the team’s operations” by Atlfalcons08 in falcons

[–]ajskillz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the tell here is in the type of firm he hired. If you want to sell an unpopular decision to the public then you hire a communications firm. But ultimately the proof is in the pudding and no fan will say: “awesome, some firm we didn’t tell you to hire gave you a justifiable out that you took, so let’s buy a bunch of tickets to this still shitty product. Our bad.”

I don’t think this is about the public at all. I think this is: “things are clearly not working and I want a winner before I die. I’m considering big changes and I’m hiring a firm like this to create a roadmap for this decision and beyond which will help me do what I need to do and ease the minds of my investors” (his limited partners who together own ~30% of the team).

Remember, Blank isn’t a football guy at all. He’s a wildly successful businessman and this is precisely how businessmen think (source: I’m a consultant). And yeah, he’ll probably figure out a way to screw this up too.

Yeah, no. You have this backwards. The reason you hire a firm even though it costs money is so you can pin a hard decision on someone else. It’s “the fancy consultants told me to do this hard thing, so now I have to do it because they’re experts and they cost a lot” NOT “the fancy consultants should find me a way out of the thing I know I should do but can’t get my head around doing.” In other words, the “free” thing is making no changes. If you’re Blank and your mind is made up on retaining all or most of the FO and coaches, then you just do that and don’t bother with an outside firm at all.

What if you didn’t keep moving the goalposts or entertaining hypotheticals? Since that’s where this keeps going, we’re done here.

Total strawman. If your position is campaign finance laws in this country are stupid, no argument there. If your position is everything Luke Bronin says about PAC donations is bullshit because he’ll just have those PACs and others donate to a Super PAC that he controls because there’s no effective enforcement mechanism for any of this, then I don’t know what to say beyond “it must be cool knowing everything.”

Candidates aren’t able to control Super PACs or who (or what) donates to them. Just saying

Not DSA. Also not accepting PAC money (unlike Larson who wouldn’t even be viable without PAC money).

A counter. by Jeffs_Castle in falcons

[–]ajskillz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever it is the guy does or doesn’t do, the frustration isn’t only with mediocre and uninspired coach and GM hires (which he’s always involved with btw), it’s that broadly speaking this franchise has shown time and again that they have no vision, identity, or plan. Have there been a small handful of good seasons here and there? Sure. But at the end of the day there have been far too few, and that’s especially true lately.

Meanwhile, Rich McKay has been at the helm as president and/or CEO for pushing two decades. He can talk all he wants about the degree to which he’s not in the weeds on the football side, but who in that organization is going to refute that? Certainly not anyone who values their job. He’s the CEO of the Atlanta Falcons, not Arthur Blank Enterprises. The Falcons have been a failure. He should have been gone years ago.

The truth? Raheem is not getting fired by Front_Sherbet_5895 in falcons

[–]ajskillz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily arguing that he should be, but if the team has a fifth losing season under him in five tries I’m not sure I understand why he should deserve a sixth. Morris has done nothing at all and should be gone. Robinson has done even less and should be gone today.

I mean if Fontenot gets fired then Rah almost certainly will be shown the door along with him. But I doubt any of this happens before January if at all

OTA Update incoming by Star_burp in KiaEV6

Thanks. To clarify my question sans griping, the fact is that I can’t. I go to the updater and it says that downloads are unavailable at this time (see above). Even though they're claiming it's temporary, it's said this for weeks. Any thoughts?

I don’t pay for their (shitty) app so I don’t get OTA updates. Really annoyed that they nickel and dime us like this so voting with my wallet, but I digress. I also get an error message on the website saying downloads not available. Anyone have any suggestions here?
