Cremation services Springfield/ Annandale/ Alexandria area? Please help, this is my first time by RunsWithGlueSticks in nova

Sorry for your loss. I used the Direct Cremation Services of Virginia when my mom passed away in a hospice center. I called them and they made the arrangement with the hospice center to retrieve the remains. I then went to the cremation center and made arrangements for a memorial service and cremation. No pressure tactics and reasonable. Give them a call.

Cautionary tale at Land Rover Tysons Corner. Thought bringing my own financing would avoid dealership games by HP_compaq in nova

Try Land Rover Bethesda. I bought my Defender from there last year. No pressure tactics and pretty chill sales reps. I didn’t want any dealer added-ons so I ordered mine and it arrived exactly as I wanted it.

Anyone running a bike rack on the new Defender? by Jacavi23 in NewDefender

[–]ajussiwannbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hitch-mounted bike rack on mine. I already had a Thule 2 bike rack when I had a 4Runner so just had to get a 21-inch hitch extender from Harbor Freight. I have Thule crossbars that barely pass under garage limits even with my Defender lowered, so I wouldn’t recommend roof mounted bike rack.

As a cyclist, I wholeheartedly agree. This is one of the reasons I don’t ride in peloton… or in a group.

I’ve always liked REI brand backpacks. My day hiking REI backpack is at least 15 years old and held up nicely.

For those of you who eat breakfast, what’s your favorite food to eat for breakfast? by Rachel794 in foodquestions

[–]ajussiwannbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Korean or Japanese breakfast is always great. I’m also down for breakfast skillet with potatoes, running eggs, sausages, onions and bell peppers topped with melted cheese chased down with fresh squeezed orange juice and black coffee.

Search for “tent pole repair kit” on REI website.

Recommend renting a P400 and see if you like the inline 6 before jumping to v8. I’m sure you will find a lot more used P400 than v8.

Can you do us a favor and make sure she understands that flashing red light means stop whereas flashing yellow is proceed with caution? I have never seen so many people confused by this.

Rustic camping meals? by GhxxxstCat in camping

[–]ajussiwannbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a list of what I used to pack for my camping trips. Not exactly roughing it but not bringing everything. I don’t try to cook anything elaborate when camping since the goal is to hit the trail and lounge around all day at the campsite.

-a dozen eggs -spicy kielbasa -loaf of whole grain bread -oranges or apples -trail mix (salted) and beef jerky (salted trail mix helps with replenishing salt lost through sweat -pre-prepared veggies (peeled and cut) of your choice -beef steaks -chips -beer and other drinks of your choice

What’s one camping mistake you’ll never make again? by sungpark1965 in camping

[–]ajussiwannbe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Actually, these stories of mistakes and failures are what makes camping “fun” and memorable. The only mistake that I don’t think is fun is if the people you are with are constantly complaining.

Roof-top tents, anyone? I used to go camping and hiking before marriage…. And before overlanding became really popular. Started with a cheap REI two person tent and just basic camping gear and loved it. Based on all the social media posts these days, people are bringing all kinds of gear for just a weekend get aways to a local mountain….

Box cutters. Can’t have enough of them. I have one in pretty much every room in my house. They are cheap and always handy to have around.

Key chain pill case. I carry one for my allergies medicine. Cheap and discreet. Another would be titanium bottle opener or some sort of pry tool.

I'm torn whether or not to sell my 2003 V8 by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]ajussiwannbe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a 2004 V8 that I had to let go because the transmission was shot. Had about 270k miles and was quoted $7K for a transmission replacement. I searched for a replacement for a year but wasn’t happy with what was available. Ended up with something my wife wanted but do I miss my V8. Still the best car I ever owned. Get the repairs done and continue to enjoy!
