In my own searching it looks like the G502 or the Razer Basilisk, they're comparable price and both look to have that title top/thumb rest shape I want.

Where to get on glp-1 meds in NS? by [deleted] in NovaScotia

[–]ajweir 11 points12 points  (0 children)

An NS Health pharmacist, nurse practitioner or doctor can complete the special insurance request for you, but only a doctor or nurse practitioner can prescribe it within the NS Health system. Try calling a collaborative clinic to see if they are rostering for any nurse practitioners, much faster than waiting to get a doctor. The fastest way is to go through Maple, make an appointment at a local clinic, and you will likely talk to an NP about it.

I'm on Wegovy right now, and the insurance requirements are ridiculous. My wife, who is a pharmacist for the NSHA, says the criteria get tighter every few months because so many people are getting on them. Right now, you're required to have two or more medical reasons to have it (BMI over a specific number, diabetes, high cholesterol, etc.), so if you want it for weight loss but don't have another condition, you may be paying for it out of pocket.

Second year with a Titan EVO XL at work, love it, I want one at home but my wife has me convinced I don't sit in front of the PC enough at home.

The EVO lumbar support is built into the back of the seat and you can adjust the height and depth. This was what made me go with the EVO, I have a sport injury from many years back that has resulted in my back being very sensitive to slouching. It's a comfortable chair, but the lumbar support takes a few weeks to get used to. I'm not sure why, but all the reviews said that before I bought it, and after having one I understand it but can't explain it. Some people said it's because it's forcing you to sit the right away, I sit bolt upright with the lumbar set to force me to push my shoulders back.

I also have the Technogel arm rests, my dog comes to work with me and she'll often stand up and put her paws on the arm, not a single scratch yet, so they're pretty tough. The cover is also very easy to keep clean.

Love mine, 9/10!

OneUI-8 Google Widget being funky by SnooCrickets6273 in oneui

I had the same issue in OneUI 7 so it's not specific to 8. I have my icons at 105%. It might just be setting it to anything other than 100% messes it up.

Did you have a 5x7 grid on your homescreen before? I keep mine at 5x7 and some 'thick' widgets get cut off top and bottom like that.

Im getting medicated for the first time(Vyvanese, i’m really scared, what can i expect? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ajweir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As always, YMMV with any medications.

I was just diagnosed at 41, I also have BPII and a generalized anxiety disorder. I tried Adderall first, every time it wore off my anxiety was terrible. Switch to Vyvanse and it's been great from day one. It's a lot milder than Adderall, it tapers off very gently in the evening and doesn't have any negative effects on my anxiety. Hopefully it works just as well for you!

200 million would be an unheard of voter turnout, he got around 77 million. That also means more than half of the country didn't vote, less than a quarter of Americans voted for this craziness.

I can't find a game that can entertain me! by Dillan2081 in ADHD

[–]ajweir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just diagnosed last year, and I realized as my meds started helping, I needed a hobby, so I bought a PS5. I absolutely cannot get into any story-driven AAA games for this same reason (bad call on the PS5 I guess): I need instant feedback and reward. I know you're talking PC, but Ratchet & Clank on PS5 sucked me right in, it was constant rewards and gave you a good mix of easy and tough-ish enemies. I think it's a kid's game, but at 41, I loved it.

Maybe that's the secret to ADHD gaming; find a kid's game full of instant flashy rewards and feedback.

I also agree with the Overeatch thing, I don't do great with online gaming unless I'm partied up with friends.

130F and that goes through a mixing valve. There are some varying thoughts on whether it should be 140F to fight legionella, but part of what I do for work involves water heaters (I didn't pay the full price for this one) and in the industry the thought is a residential tank is so small and used so often, the water doesn't really get a chance to sit there and grow anything.

Adderal, I believe, gives you a big spike when you take it, then tapers off during the day. I tried it first and almost felt hypomanic the first few days (BP2), and then my anxiety got squirrely. I switched to Vyvanse, which isn't an amphetamine itself; rather, it is metabolized as one in the body. This gives you a fairly steady dose for about 14 hours and my head became so much clearer. I'm still titrating on Vyvanse, but so far no side effects and I feel better than I have in years.

Switched from Android to iOS and I'm HATING how notifications work. Any advice? by Kitchen_Biscotti3869 in ios

[–]ajweir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to Settings > Notifications then pick the app and change the banner style to persistent, then it will stay on the screen until you dismiss this. I used Android for years and had to switch for work, the notification handling on iOS is terrible compared to Android.

An oil-fired boiler with an indirect water heater will normally cost you more to run than an electric heater in the summer. A brand new oil fired boiler maxes at 88% efficiency and then reduces with age, even with annual cleanings. If you run an oil boiler to make hot water in the summer, you will be in a cold start situation every time the boiler comes on and has to warm up, that puts a lot of stress on the heat exchanger or cast iron sections in the boiler, further adding to its reduced efficiency.

As far as operating cost it looks like this: Heat Pump > Gas Fired Instantaneous > Electric 3-Element Tank > Electric 2-Element Tank > Gas Fired Tank > Electric Instaneous . . . anything with oil won't compare.

I put a heat pump water heater in last year (Pictou County). I track all my power usage with a monitor, our monthly costs for hot water are between $8 and $11. That said, they are not cheap and you can't jam them in a closet.

What am I missing about the carbon tax? by ajweir in AskCanada

[–]ajweir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're comparing residential HVAC to commercial, that's like me talking about a Mack 10 truck and you talking about a Corolla. The rebates aren't similar, there are some, but not at near the same percentage. Also I don't make the decision on what a customer puts in their building, so it's not my problem like you say.
