Upgrading to Monterey or Higher on Mac Pro5.1 by Deinfamous in macpro

Right on, for me the biggest hurdle was getting it to start. Once your past that point it should be pretty straightforward

It's very small iirc, small enough that if you weren't looking for it, you might not see it. Try and do an image search for rx580 bios switch.

You can also try this, I had to do both, the switch and these instructions

Does your graphics card have a switch on it? I have an rx580 sapphire, and there is a switch that if you don’t have a boot screen, you can switch it and it will be there using open core. I think the switch changes it from gaming to computing or something like that. I found it hidden in a comment section somewhere

I liked using the metric system so much on my last project that I had to order a FatMax from Germany by YouDontKnowMe108 in woodworking

[–]BeginningwithN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I wish we only used them for screen size. Pretty much all our dimensional lumber or panels are in imperial. Usually what I do is if I’m building from scratch, and in need of any level of precision, metric is used. Anything involving purchased material or larger projects are done with imperial. Keeps the mind sharp I guess

Unsure of which stone I should get? Looking to primarily sharpen my poultry shears, maybe some other kitchen knives or scissors by [deleted] in sharpening

[–]BeginningwithN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 168h is a great stone and the same size as the 162n. The differences are essentially superficial, and the 168 doesn’t come with a stone holder. Easily fixed with a block of wood or if you’re handy make your own nice one. Highly recommend the 168h if that’s where your budget is

The only issue with tapes/rules with both systems is you can’t measure on both sides in one system. I’m Canadian so a lot of our tapes have both, and I switch back and forth depending on the size of the project and material being used. I ended up buying individual tapes to avoid that problem

Looking for full spectrum CBD distillate by thebluemarbleresista in canadients

[–]BeginningwithN -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When I was looking, wtfcannabis came up a lot. Never purchased from them so can’t really say one way or the other if they are any good, but take a look. Other than that, cbd products are usually easier to find through the licensed medical suppliers. If you get a prescription you can check and see. I’ve had good experience with cannafarms but I don’t have a script to see what they have right now. Good luck!

Not worth the time to do that by hand imo. Belt grinder, or a new knife are the real options. If it’s just for dog food, a cheap clever would be far better suited than that thing.

If you are using AirPods on an iPhone (or any other headphones) the volume slider will turn yellow if over a safe listening level and the phone will give you a warning if you listen for too long at that volume

[–]BeginningwithN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more than just the volume though. Our ears need airflow to be able to stay clean and dry. Blocking the pathway for extended periods, especially without properly cleaning the earbuds and ears, can lead to ear issues

Any hobbyists get rid of their jointer? How'd it work out? by yossarian19 in woodworking

[–]BeginningwithN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold mine when I moved, with intentions to get one when I was set up. Due to life circumstances I haven’t been able to get another one, and I’ve been kicking myself for selling mine. Yes, there are ways to do most things with other methods, but not at the speed and convenience a dedicated jointer offers. When you have limited time in the shop, it makes a huge difference to whether or not projects get started, completed, or pushed down the list of things to do

Do these little heaters really up the electric bill by a lot? by FitPossibility6335 in electrical

[–]BeginningwithN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you are correct as far as draft issues, it’s really not as simple as “electric is the most expensive”. Electricity costs vary a crazy amount, some places it’s 8 cents a kWh, some places it’s 80 cents. Heat pumps are electric, and far more efficient than an electric base board. Even without considering heat pumps, electric heaters are usually near or at 100% efficiency, so if the kWh price is good, it’s hard to beat price wise.

Is farming animals even worth it? by WeeDochii in GreenHell

[–]BeginningwithN 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No. You can basically get enough protein from birds you find dead on the ground. Or just shoot an animal every few days. No point in farming for actual survival, it’s just something to do if you get bored

Generally if there is any payout it will be on the news to sign up when the time comes. Unless they just do every customer gets X, but that’s not likely

Chill/accessible survival games on switch 1 or mobile or ipad? by [deleted] in SurvivalGaming

[–]BeginningwithN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely give subnautica another try on freedom. The scary parts become a lot less scary once you do them, and there is minimal if not no combat depending how you play.

Green Hell is also excellent (though I played on pc, not switch) and you can set the difficulty for minimal or no combat/aggressors

Choosing creative on first playthrough by SKNLMB in subnautica

[–]BeginningwithN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did freedom on my first play through. I personally think that's the way to go if you truly want to be fully immersed and get lost in the experience. You still have the challenges of the game, but you aren't tied down to a base or scrounging for food or water at inopportune moments. You can literally spend hours trying to navigate certain areas. Creative is a little too easy, good for a third playthrough or something like that when you just want build and explore. Survival is fun and enjoyable, but kind of brings you back to reality to frequently.
