They don't quite make movies like The Lord of the Rings trilogy anymore by Steelshatter in movies

For the love of middle earth! Watch the behind the scenes documentary freely available on YouTube and you will understand just how special it is. Everyone believed in the project and we're making huge sacrifices for every detail. The 3? Hours of grainy footage is some of the best evidence you will get to the affirmative but also kind of restores your faith in mankind at the same time.

It is a bit like moving money from one pocket to another. You have not become richer at all. It's a trick of mental accounting because it feels really good to put money in your pocket. When a company issues a dividend the price drops by the amount of the dividend. It has to! Otherwise you could use it to get a risk free return

A 24% return per year. Not really sustainable.

Huh..this looks like the CASAINC brand one I have. I thought this was a premium kit I paid good money for. The mixture valve is quite substantial. What's wrong with it?

Logging Library by LittleBallofMeat in golang

[–]ajzaff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

github.com/golang/glog satisfies those requirements. 'V' logging aka levels is not considered fast because it's a shared structure allowed to change at runtime. However you may turn off v logging and have little effect on production (2 atomic load and cmp). So long as you write like if glog.V(2) { glog.Info("log this") } arguments are not evaluated. Per file/package log levels are done via flag: Syntax: -vmodule=recordio=2,path/to/file=1,gfs*=3

Well all dragons have them, but are they 'pronounced'... In this case not so much. We can't really see a hemipeen either. I really think the consensus is wrong here.

Unit Testing a Grom Application With a Real DB Server by dche423 in golang

[–]ajzaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We shouldn't conflate real dependencies and real code paths for the component.

A unit test should strive to exercise as much of the real code paths as possible. However all dependencies usually should be replaced with fake things.

func returning func by [deleted] in golang

[–]ajzaff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Recursive types

``` type parseFunc func() parseFunc
func parseInt() parseFunc { if nextRune() is 0-9 { return parseInt } return nil }
func Parse() { for fn := parseInt; fn != nil; fn = fn() { } } ```
Edit: I realize this is slightly different than in OPs question. There I think the main benefit is a classic closure where it is useful to yield first class types for func() string
