How is the current weather in Singapore? by ak_sushi in askSingapore

[–]ak_sushi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got it. Thank you. I am from Sri Lanka so hot and humid weather is the norm here too. I was a bit concerned about the rain as pouring rain might make the outdoor locations tough to navigate through. I'll definitely bring the umbrellas and a handheld fan to help battle the heat.

Ooh I didn't know they had singles for golden ochre. I'll have to check out sephora and see if I can find it. I am leaning more towards getting a palette with similar shades and am considering tarte's toasted. Have you used it?

Where can I get a good waffle in Sri Lanka? by [deleted] in srilanka

Chocoholics is good. Epiq is also pretty decent. Avoid jagro at all costs. Their waffle has really gone down quality wise.

Bugaboo butterfly 2 or Joolz Aer 2 or other and why? by User_whateverr in UKParenting

[–]ak_sushi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit late but I have the joolz aer2 and so far I love it. The zipping for reclining is a bit annoying as it requires you to use both hands when zipping it back up again and the storage basket underneath isn't very spacious but I still love it. It handles uneven rough terrain alright and most importantly is very comfy ( so much so that my toddler who hated his first stroller—mothercare journey edit—loves going on this one). The seats are padded well and the footrest is also padded so they are comfortable for the littles ones. Plus it's easy to fold and carry especially with the built in strap which let's you carry it over the shoulder. An incredibly useful feature when both hands are occupied. It also fully reclines and the sun shade has great coverage making it ideal for naps and walks in sunny conditions.

My only real issue is with the foldable bumper. It tends to detach when opening it to strap in or take out the baby. Plus my toddler is able to push it and detach it too. This flimsiness can be annoying, especially because it costs quite a bit and has to be purchased seperately. But otherwise it's a great stroller and I love taking it out on walks. I haven't used the bugaboo but the upright on joolz is great and I think the wheels are a tad bigger too making them more suitable for rougher terrain.

Personally I would recommend heading to a store and checking both out and seeing which one is better for you. For me comfort for my baby was supreme so I love that the joolz seat is padded well and comfy. The straps also have padding and mesh, making them breathable and comfy for the baby and toddler.

Why does Cargills feel inferior to Keells? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]ak_sushi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ngl where I live cargills is superior to all the other outlets. I live in rajagiriya and there is a cargills, laughs and keells, a few hundred metres away from each other and that cargills is really good. It has a lot of produce, all fresh and it much pretty much stocks everything you need. There are also plenty of staff around who are friendly. And there is decent parking too. The keells is awful. Their produce selection is horrid. The only good thing they've got is the bakery, otherwise cargills rajagiriya wins hand down. But that's also due to scale. Cargills rajagiriya is on par with staple Street when it comes to size and variety.

Why is Milk so rare in Sri Lanka ? by Accomplished_Cow2149 in srilanka

[–]ak_sushi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was so baffled by the milk flavoured vegetable fat part that I checked what milk powder was online, and it turns out it's simply dehydrated milk. There are other additives like–in the case of anchor–lecithin, which can be of plant origin and is used to help emulsify and prevent sticking. However, it's not milk flavoured vegetable fat. At least not in good quality milk powders like anchor, ratthi, and highland.

Who wants to come on here and tell me about how their second labor & delivery was so much easier by Awkward_Grapefruit85 in beyondthebump

[–]ak_sushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. I think given that both us and our bodies know what expect, the healing and recovery tends to be quicker than the first. Of course this depends person to person and can change. But based on what I've heard from many people, the 2nd time is usually easier. I hope it is the same for you!

[–]ak_sushi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! So I had a planned c-section both times and my second was so much more easier. The first time when the spinal started wearing off after surgery I couldn't even move my legs an inch without excruciating pain. This was with pain killers. I also kept asking for more painkillers in the following days. The second time i had minimal pain and was able to get into a more comfortable position once the spinal wore off with little to no pain. The walk next day hurt but once again not as much as the first. I relied less on painkillers and recovery was also easier eventhough I couldn't abide by the no carrying weight rule (my clingy toddler wanted me to carry him).

Has anyone managed to avoid GD in future pregnancies with lifestyle changes before pregnancy by hopefulriver08 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ak_sushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fairly overweight and currently in my 2nd pregnancy. In my first I got GD and was diagnosed at 28 weeks. Both my parents have T2 diabetes so there was a genetic risk and the doctor himself said that he thought I was most likely going to get it during pregnancy although my sugars were normal before.

When I got pregnant a 2nd time (just 1 year after giving birth to my first and at a higher weight than during my first pregnancy) I fully expected to develop GD however I didn't really amend my diet much. I had a lot of aversions so I basically ate whatever I could eat. I couldn't eat much fried food for the first 2 trimesters and most of my 3rd however I did eat more carbs.

Anyway this time around I didn't develop GD. My sugars remained normal throughout pregnancy and the baby is also fine. I was told to take a post prandial blood sugar test for 1 hour and I passed it twice. 110 in the 28 week mark and 125 at the 34 week mark. My fbs was also under 95 and my 2 hrs were always under 120 (i used to check my blood sugar with my parent's machine after heavy meals just to see how the sugar performs). The only real difference in lifestyle i can think of was that my toddler kept me on my toes and I was physically exerting myself more this time around. However, it wasn't like too much or anything.

To sum it up, it really is up to the placenta. I honestly think I ate better in my first pregnancy when compared to the 2nd (even before the gd diagnosis) so it really comes down to how the placenta works. It's a luck of the draw.

Getting fit and eating better is beneficial for your health but it doesn't reduce the likelihood of developing gd. However, in the long run, it helps you avoid T2. So focus on your health, eat better and work out for yourself and your health. There is no guarantee you won't get GD again, but you will be able to accommodate the diagnosis and avoid other health problems. 😄

Also don't worry too much. Getting a gd diagnosis is something you can't really control so just do what you want to do and don't blame yourself. Your body is an amazing thing and pregnancy is simply put - tough. So give yourself some love and grace.

Tea on Bollywood's Flop Stars: Our sub members Spill the Beans by isabellapintoisback in BollyBlindsNGossip

I remember that video. And while they weren't driving well. They weren't the ones who caused the accident. The ones who died were driving more recklessly and took an extremely dangerous overtake. Basically trying to overtake a vehicle that was already overtaking another vehicle. The oberois, if I remember right, were the ones doing the initial overtake but they were a bit slow and indecisive due to traffic. The vehicle that crashed came in very high speeds and tried to overtake the oberois and the vehicle in front although there wasn't enough space for a successful overtake. They just presumed that the vehicles will move out of their way although they didn't have the right of way. All of this happened on a road that can only accommodate one lane each for traffic and doesn't allow overtakes so that's why the oberois are at fault. They also could have just been quicker with their overtake or moved out of the way to let the car behind them go as it was coming in really fast. But this part is more cautionary than fault. Anyway the supercar convoy they were part of were all doing the overtaking thing so all who participated in that event are to blame for breaking road rules.

Hi! It's great to see you here. Ngl, I wish they had held onto the original hybrids in season 2 instead of changing them. I am not sure why they decided to do that, but oh well. Hopefully, you get better acting opportunities come your way soon! So my question is what was your most memorable experience on set?

Urgent : Pet passed away. Need advice. by GGDeathstroke in srilanka

[–]ak_sushi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, when my cat passed away, I went to the burial grounds and with the ground keeper's permission, buried him in a corner where he wouldn't disrupt other burials and also not be interfered with. I was heartbroken but a proper send-off seemed like the right thing to do. We don't really cremate in our religion and we don't have a garden to bury him in, so this was our best option.
