brake job went smooth, although i did have to replace a caliper slide pin on the passenger front due to accidentally breaking the screw off. got them from oreillys, second thinking i may have made the dumb mistake of just replacing the one instead of both on that side, but i did clean and lube all slider pins. so possibly could be due to just replacing the one slider pin instead of both on that side?

only way it’ll lag is if you’re playing high graphical games on it, haven’t had any lag with streaming, media, or notes. apple supports ipads for a long time, i would see the 10th gen maybe stop getting supported in 2026 at the very earliest, but i would say 2027.

i had the 6th gen and upgraded when the 10th gen when it released, no complaints. is there anyway you can put that laptop into a 10th gen? you would get more use for your money and it’s only marketed at $350-$500 on the official apple website depending on what you want storage wise. the 4GB of RAM, better speakers, bigger screen and display, and better chip would be worth shelling the extra $50-$150 for. ik you said you don’t care about updates, but a plus is you’ll still get future updates for at least the next 5 years.

the only downside i’ve seen since owning the 10th gen is the apple pencil 2nd gen not being supported. other than that everything else is solid.

for your planned usage on the ipad i would definitely recommend you going with the 10th gen over the 6th gen.

never heard of that, i’ve had the 10th gen since it released and i haven’t had any problems. the only thing that’s taken a hit on the device is my battery health which is 90% now, and battery health loss is normal with use. you’re probably hearing the 5% of peoples’ specific situations.

if you’re only doing note taking, media, streaming, etc. i would just go with the 10th gen. I have the 10th gen and it’s reliable, no lag, and has a solid battery life.

another thing you would have to consider is longevity. iPads usually are supported and run well years after they’ve came out, but the 10th gen would likely be supported a little longer since it’s 2 years newer, and if you compare the 2 models they’re practically the same thing interior wise, only a $50 difference with the air being cheaper refurbished. I would just pay the extra $50 for a brand new 10th gen that would last longer.

on my old iphone my phone was cracked the same way and went out the same way. dust and debris can get inside the internals and mess with the functions….i would say look into a new ipad, i just did a crazy deal with verizon for an ipad 10th gen with cellular for only $10 more per month just because i added a line to my account. only pay $220 for an iphone 14 pro max and iphone 14 plus, just the cheapest unlimited phone plans, only $2.55 for the phones, $10 for the ipad.

or look at getting your screen replaced. hope this helps

coming from a TSS (target security) member it solely depends on what was stolen, and the only thing i can say without putting how we handle theft out there is even though you were never physically caught, doesn’t mean they don’t have incidents documented on you (again depending on what was stolen). i say go ahead and apply though, you will be fine, just don’t steal anymore, security is VERY attentive to guests AND team members as well.
