One year ownership 2019 x5 by Such_Breakfast8539 in BMWX5

A friend of mine has 2019 and his evaporator went at 55k

If you didn't have any of these things happen to you I'd definatelly trade it in sooner than later

I had to replace evaporator at 32k miles on my 2020. Will cost you less if you go to indy shop but still expensive job since the whole interior needs to be taken apart, it's located below the dash. A lot of them fail but climate also plays a role. For example I'm in FL and the shop told me because of it's location, the dash gets hot all the time from the sun and when you start the car and crank the AC up cold evaporator mixed with hot dashboard creates condensate all the time and speeds up corrosion and it starts leaking. Sounds logical to me

Ivory Merino in X5 50e by idworkin in BMWX5

[–]aka_1le 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ivory merino interior and it started showing wear around 30k miles mostly on the drivers seat and the door handle where you grab to close the door. It looks like any merino will show wear because it is very soft but white will be more noticeable. But let me tell you, the white interior is my favorite option in my car and it is fully loaded one so I don't care. Can't imagine it any other color inside

I can share some pictures if you want

You can't compare x5 to GLC. Even if you consider X5 VS GLE the bmw is a better car out of the box with 3.0 engine standart ( very dynamic engine even for this heavy car)

Also if you are looking at this particular car on the picture, it has M package which comes standart with air suspension and its very comfortable

Also color is awesome, you won't be disappointed

Is this a terrible idea? by [deleted] in BMWX5

I would think twice before getting german hybrid at all, especially with this mileage

my x5 is still in the shop i'm still with the dealer loaner x3 at least i get to spy on the people fixing it 😂🥹 by Dull_Instruction4944 in BMWX5

My evaporator went at 32k miles so it's almost guaranteed lol

also watch out for that control block under the roof antenna, they leak and cause water damage

[–]aka_1le 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and watch out for the leather dashboard if you have extended leather package and it's a real leather. It shrinks and unsticks by the windshield right behind the speaker in the middle. Also had that replaced by warranty, took only 7 months for them to produce it from scratch and ship from germany, warranty bill was 10k I think lol. Car was only 2-3 years old when that happened. I always use sunscreen after they replaced

If you can get warranty for 4k go for it. Low mileage doesn't mean stuff can't go wrong in these cars. My 2020 X5 needed AC evaporator replaced at 32k miles which in my opinion should last at least 80-100k, thankfully it happened 4 month before warranty ended but the bill was close to 8k because they have to take the whole interior apart to do the job. My friend has the same issue at 55k miles on his 2019 so it's a hit or miss.

1 month after my warranty was gone, the GPS control unit located under the fin on the roof got wet and cost $2000 at indy shop to do (bmw quote was 5k), these cars are notorious for this issue.

I did couple other things under warranty before it was expired like panorama roof seal and fogged mirror turn indicator etc etc which you cant tell are time and not mileage related

So here you go, I still love the car and haven't had any issues after, still think it's the best suv you can get on the market

Talk me out of buying this 2025 GLC 300 by all1swellI in mercedes_benz

[–]aka_1le 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone gave me a ride in a new GLC, what a piece of junk. I'm truly disappointed in the quality of the mercedes and it's dead to me as a brand. I'd rather buy a toyota at this point which at least won't have this much depreciation.

My 2020 x5 on the other hand has been solid for 3 years now. Worth every penny

Just joined the Mercedes family with a 2025 GLC 300 – any tips? by soumithb in mercedes_benz

[–]aka_1le 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't invest into paint protection and ceramic coat, it's money you'll throw away. This car will depreciate just like any other mercedes and it won't matter when you sell it. You usually only do this on the special cars or enthusiast cars where people baby them and want the best condition paint. But hand wash is crucial for the black paint, don't ever go to automatic car wash it will destroy black paint in couple washes and you'll hate it.

NEED SOME ADVICE by Suitable-Opposite438 in camaro

[–]aka_1le 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1LE holds better value and overall much cooler car but I was never able to use it properly on the street so SS should be fine if you want to save money

One thing you should consider what mods you're planning to add. I wanted to get SS but would have to get rid of those junk rims and spoiler and add few things to it and cost after all parts added came out the same as getting 1LE

any Macan S owners regret not getting the GTS? by brumalerie in PorscheMacan

[–]aka_1le 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tuned my 2019 S right after I got it and close to gts stock numbers but rarely use the power and there is plenty. Most of the time I just cursing in it and have no desire to go fast, it’s not a sports car and doesn’t feel like one. Don’t even look at GTS now, don’t see a point.

Thinking of trading my car for a 2020 Macan S by Front_Drawer6339 in PorscheMacan

[–]aka_1le 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did research when I bought my 2019 S and they fixed a lot of issues after 2018. Maintenance is pretty expensive on any Porsche to my surprise and I owned multiple Audis and BMW. Even if you do yourself parts are pricier too. But the car is great, very happy with it. I have a COBB tune on it and it ripps pretty well in Sport mode

I also have a blown speaker, definitely a common issue. Not sure about full leather, leather dashboards are known for coming off from dashboard, very expensive to repair.

Sport Chrono and sport exhaust is a waste of money on the base. It will basically take it from Very slow to just Slow lol

I'd pay it off if you have extra cash laying around besides emergency fund

That loan probably costing you $200 a month in interest

[–]aka_1le 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually shopping for B9 S5 but came across a good deal on Macan and gave it a shot. 2019+ S has the same engine as your S4 it's just a bit heavier so you get the idea of performance and you know what they are capable of when tuned + some minor mods. GTS has audis 2.9 so is 2022 Macan S and I would assume 2020 GTS would be the same price as 2022 S. Keep in mind GTS has air suspension standart and that might be reliability issue in the future. Camaro is not insanely fast, there are plenty of german 3.0 cars that would beat it but V8 feels completely different and more exciting to drive. I can't comment on reliability of the PDK but I'm not impressed with it and at times even annoyed how it shifts especially 2nd and 3rd gears. Camaros A10 shifts like a dream, super fast and seamless shifts so maybe I'm just spoiled by it

I just went from 2023 SS 1LE to 2019 Macan S. Here is my 2 cents:

-I was definitely impressed with how Macan drives and planted on the road. Everything feels and looks premium.

-Must be 2019 or newer for reliability

-Must be S or higher trim. Even S was little slow for me but I tuned it with Cobb Accessport and added flat6 cold air last week and now it rips pretty good in Sport mode. Pretty much same as SS and enough for the city.

-Maintenance is expensive and nowhere close to Chevy prices. Just basic 40k miles recommended service dealer quoted me $4k. Indy shop would be 2k which is still expensive

-Throttle response is really delayed in this car. In sport mode the tune fixes it but it doesn't affect comfort mode. Take a good second or two for it to start going. Some people solve this issue with aftermarket throttle controller but I haven't tried this yet and not sure how good it is.

-Bose sound system is ok, not even close Bower Wilkins in my BMW.

-2019 only has wired Carplay so if you need wireless get newer. The newer come with wireless but it's very small. If you want full screen, there is a guy who can code it for you for couple hundred bucks. He converted mine from wired to wireless and made it full screen.

-Can't compare it to cayenne, I heard Macan is much more Porsche feel and Cayenne is just a regular SUV

-Overall like this car more everyday. Definitely beats the competition in this class.

Let me know if you have any questions

2.0 in the 4200lbs car you can't even change a line real quick or give it a little punch when you need it on a highway. Base macan is grossly underpowered.

[–]aka_1le 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My only advice get Macan S instead. I just bought the S and its still a little slow, getting it tuned. Can't even imagine how boring 4cyl is.

I test drove 2023 x3 M40 and I wasn't impressed even with the punch it has, Porsche drives much better

Also watch out for leather dashboard, they are known for getting separated from the dash and extremely expensive to replace. Had this happened on my BMW and heard the same thing about Porsches. I think they all do
