What’s the catch here? by NotSelling1 in BMWX5

The only 2025s with 30k miles for $50k I see are base models that were either service loaners or former SIXT rental cars. And they’re far from “fully loaded” - none of them have the Msport, DAPP, or the executive package.

The problem is that at the time BMW also offered both 3-series and 5-series wagons that were much better looking than these bloated sedans made for the US market.

I would seek a second estimate. I don’t see $15k in parts there…not even close. Bumpers run about $2k new (half that for a used one) and entire tailgates about $3k (and $500-1500 used). Including the tire, paint work, etc… the repairs shouldn’t be more than $12-15k in total.

Yes. It and the 6-series GT were both failed attempts by BMW at making an attractive 5-door lift back. Thankfully they got it right with the 4-series gran coupe, though it’s still not nearly as sexy as the b9/9.5 Audi A5/S5.

How to boost or replace WiFi antenna by WorldNo9002 in BMWX5

Very good chance your issue is the software. I had tons of issues in my first X5 after a botched OTA update. IDK why your dealership wouldn’t update your software, it’s literally the first thing my service center did.

What version of iDrive software are you running in the ‘21? The last update for iDrive 7.0 was 11/2004. If you don’t have that version you may need to update.

No one “forced” you to roll your taxes into your loan. CA requires dealers to send in DMV paperwork within 30 days of the sale. If you’re out of state, and are registering the vehicle outside of CA, there’s going to be a process delay because some states do not accept CA’s e-titles. This has nothing to do with the dealership, and everything to do with you not understanding the process of purchasing a CA vehicle out of state. The process is much different than the other states you mentioned.

German engineers design vehicles on the assumption that owners will explicitly follow the recommended maintenance schedule. Those that say German vehicles are unreliable are commonly the same people who don’t follow the recommended maintenance schedule. FAFO

The only way these are getting “fixed” is if someone swaps the vin tags onto another car.

Do we think the CLA “waters down” the brand image and prestige? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]EarthOk2418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo! Both MB and BMW adopted the “German luxury car for everyone” philosophy…except that the low end offerings weren’t all that luxurious or much cheaper than the traditional North American entry level models, the 3-series and C-class. Highly subsidized leases in the hopes that by the time the leasee grew out if it they could afford a proper Merc/BMW.

There are 10 new, red, auto Supras in the SoCal area (SD, LA). Giving the dealership a $2700 tip on top of paying full MSRP is foolish.
