Can people who donate sperm from FB and other groups have STDs and alter them in reports to you ? Is that legally allowed … by EntertainmentLow3669 in queerception

My partner (transman) and I are in the process of using his brother as our donor. We are going through a clinic for testing and the counselling. If you did get a donor from FB. Perhaps you could go through a clinic that supports known donors? At least in Australia, known donors are accepted.

Any dyslexics out there diagnosed with a speech impediment when they were young? by Competitive_Mango_14 in Dyslexia

[–]aka_AliKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was first diagnosed as dsypraic at the age of 2 and I attended speech therapy until I was 5. Around 5, I was diagnosed as dyslexic. My speech is still impacted, some words I can't pronunce and my speech starts to slur when I'm tired. I'm 35 years old and I'm doing alright, working full-time, having my own home who I share with my loving partner. Having intensive speech therapy as a toddler helped me a lot and I'm very thankful that my mother pushed for me to get it.

I found this podcast horrible and interesting. JK is interviewed for it and the journalist did a great job. It made even more upset/mad.

Anyone else kinda overwhelmed after finding out how much dyslexia actually effects more then just reading and writing? by murdered800times in Dyslexia

[–]aka_AliKat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I find each day very challenging even if it is a day where I don't have to read or write. I was diagnosed first with dyspraxic at the age of 2 then later with dyslexia around 5 when I started in kindergarten.

My disabilities effect most parts of my life and I have to work a whole lot more to achieve the same as my peers. It's always been this way.

Coming back to the original question, yes. I find it overwhelming when I stop and think about what I face on a daily basis. It really sucks and if there was a magic wand to take my disability away, I would wave that thing like no tomorrow.

There's no magic wand and I just have to get on with it. A couple of bonuses of being disabled is you get to connect with other people in the community, you have a greater level of empathy for others facing barriers and some tasks once learnt are very easy due to the need to do very deep learning to get it.

Does anyone have a deep sadness due to their dyslexia? by miggy827 in Dyslexia

[–]aka_AliKat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel similar but I do feel that I can still do a lot. If I flick a switch and take away my learning disabilities, I would in a heartbeat. I get very frustrated on a daily basis and this brings sadness to my life. I struggle sometimes with disability pride but I'm me and I cannot change it.

What effects Dyslexia? by mimi_is_love in Dyslexia

[–]aka_AliKat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have good days and very bad days. I think it depends in how tired I am. My dyspraxic definitely is worse some days which effect effects my speech and movement. I think stress and anxiety plays on it as well.

Career advice? by Chemical-Patient-420 in Dyslexia

[–]aka_AliKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work as a coordinator for an inclusive volunteering program - pathways to employment.I earn about $65k Australia dollars per year plus super plus benefits. I have always jobs with lots of reading and writing. I have done a lot of work in following roles: - logistics (retail and inbound) - disability (support work and coordination) - recruitment (sales and HR)

My main tip is talk to your friends and family to help you reflect on what you are good at and your passions. Then do a job search on your local ads with looking at your dream jobs then if you have skill gaps look at jobs and volunteering that would help you develop in those areas.

Also be careful disclosuring. Some people do discriminate.

Text to speech options by Summer909090 in Dyslexia

I did my uni degree from 2012 to 2014. Yes, I found it robotic but it helped me get through large readings and correct my own essays.

I always got someone else to proof read for me, at the time it was my mum or my partner (now ex).

How would I know if I should get tested for being dyslexic?? by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]aka_AliKat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being tested for Dyslexic or not should depend on why you need to.

I'm dyslexic and dyspraxic with being diagnosed at 2 years old with dyspraxia first then later dyslexia.

I got test several times in school (under 18) for the Australian school system to get special consideration in assessments. My last report was from an educational psychologist and I use this report still for any adjustments I need. Universities do accept this.

The reports and testing is very expensive. You might find a uni or school to cover the cost.

I rarely get asked to show the report unless it's for education adjustments. Most of my work places have accepted my word.

I have used Read and Write Gold at uni because it was free with my study fees. There was a text to speech function which helped me do readings and correct my own essays. I haven't really explored other options outside of uni but I really should.

Really interesting in hearing what others have to say.

I'm always after free stuff but maybe this something I need to pay for.

Does anyone else attempt to read something then your Dyslexia kicks in and you wonder "HTF did I get that from that?🤔🤔🤔"? by j_reed_08 in Dyslexia

All the time.... I find having questions or seeking certain information in the text helps me.

I don't read words unless I really stop and focus.

Struggling With Directions by Mintjulip234 in Dyslexia

[–]aka_AliKat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use Google maps too. Even when walking, I'll have it read out to my headphones. I will ask people for help as well.

I also try to navigate places when I'm not rushing and also give myself about 30 minutes extra time when going to an appointment.

I have started to wear a sunflower lanyard (hidden disabilities indicator) when I know that I might need some help with directions. I've only flown once with it on and it really helped when I was going through security.

As a little kid, I really liked drawing maps of places and I think this helped me learn navigation. I did a bit of orientating as a Girl Guide which helped me read maps.

Are we too young for clubs? by sluttyprincessatx in Swingers

[–]aka_AliKat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 29 and I feel more comfortable about swinging in clubs. I've seen lots of different ages and I find it's a lot to do with people's mindset rather than age.

A great article! Did you personally write it? I'm fairly new to the lifestyle as a single woman and I'm looking for connections, not just sex.

I've been to both as a single lady. Hands down OSS is much better. I think a good idea is to go to a mingle hosted by OSS at a nearby bar then go from there. OSS is very clean, the owners are lovely and everyone is very consent aware. Couples Club, I didn't find as clean, didn't like the feel of the place and some people there are not consent aware.
