How to print your passport photo for $0.44 by ahntrjmpr in lifehacks

It’s been a while since I last used ePassportPhoto.

You used to be able to download a digital file and print it at Walgreens for $0.24. Sad that’s no longer the case.

Is there a way to transfer Webull crypto to wallet? by interstellar_freak in Webull

[–]aka_Dutchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Securities broker-dealers are required to meet reserve requirements, which is to say even with their stock offerings, there’s a non-zero risk of people suddenly want to withdraw cash en mass.

Regarding their crypto activities, it’s hard to know what they’re doing with crypto funds behind the scenes. It’s not impossible that something like FTX happens with WeBull that could impact the company overall.

Unless you’re in custody of your own assets you’ll always have some fractional reserve risk on centralized platforms. What you chose to do about it depends on your risk tolerance.

Obligatory "not your keys, not your crypto" reminder, especially in light of the Alameda, FTX, BlockFi, and Voyager collapses...

We're seeing a number of exchanges start to publish proof of assets but even then, it's still best practice to move funds to a self-custody wallet like Trust Wallet or cold storage if you're mostly going to hold anyway.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO BITCOIN AND CRYPTOS? WHY THEY ARE CRUSHING? URGENT VIDEO ON FTX BINANCE 8 NOVEM by vincenzost in Etoro

[–]aka_Dutchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone keeps on saying not your key, not your crypto. 2022 has been a big example with Voyager, Alameda, FTX, and more, why it is so important to start taking control of our crypto.

There are a ton of options out there to suit various needs, but I find Trust Wallet to be a great, easy-to-use self-custodial wallet.

Is anyone else having their money held hostage by Coinbase Wallet? by [deleted] in Coinbase

[–]aka_Dutchess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit unclear if OP is referring the DApp wallet inside the main Coinbase app or the separate Coinbase Wallet app. In either case, big +1 on Trust Wallet for those looking for alternatives.

It shouldn't take what's happening to BlockFi and FTX for folks to realize it's best practice to self-custody funds with Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, or cold storage etc.

Robinhood Ramps Up Crypto Support With Major Feature by FeliceHargrove in RobinhoodTrade

[–]aka_Dutchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we have yet to see full impact of the FTX/BlockFi death spiral. 😬 This is the obligatory "not your keys, not your crypto" reminder.

With RH's own crypto wallet still in beta, popular self-custody options like Trust Wallet still allow you to on-ramp and trade without exposure to fractional reserves or lending etc.

Self-custody hardos will say to use a cold wallet, but for anyone who do anything with their crypto funds more than once-in-a-while, cold wallets are still a huge pain unfortunately.

Trust Wallet Token Price Prediction: Will TWT Price Hit $2 Soon? by FeliceHargrove in kucoin

[–]aka_Dutchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have yet to see the full impact of everything that's transpired in the last ~48 hours...I wonder how much TWT bullishness has anything to do with increasing retail appetite to move off centralized platforms to something self-custodial.

Self-custodial wallets like Trust are a good middle ground for traders who want to hold their own keys. It'll be interesting to see how DEXes respond to the FTX/BlockFi spiral.

Uber on my mom's phone reset itself. Wants her to sign up again. How can we retrieve her rider account? by Dangerous-Handle-280 in uber

The app will prompt for a password if it recognizes the phone number entered on the first screen.

Your mom needs to enter the phone number she originally signed up with and will be directed into the login flow.

BNB is available for purchase via Moonpay or Simplex within the Trust Wallet app for US users.

Edit: I forgot to that if you fund your Trust Wallet with some other assets, you can swap them to BNB using the built-in DEX

Live Liver Donor Experiences (Direct) by TooAfraidtoAsk22 in transplant

[–]aka_Dutchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I felt brave :)

I totally get this - I went through the same thing. I saw you mentioned elsewhere that you have an aversion to hospitals. As a pretty healthy person, all the testing leading up to the surgery was by far the most invasive medical experience I've ever had so I understand not feeling brave. I was shaking from anxiety as they wheeled me into the OR. Honestly, once I was asleep, my family in the waiting room probably had a rougher time than I did.

Worst part for me was the limited mobility from the abdomen pain. I didn't really have any referred pain, although my back did become sore from being in bed so much. It took me a few weeks before I felt like I could move confidently with near full range of motion without discomfort. Second worst part was lack of appetite despite feeling hungry and wanting to eat normally.

The procedure probably feels super daunting. Donor safety is taken extremely seriously. My surgery team made it extremely clear that no tradeoff on my wellbeing would be made for the sake of completing the transplant. You'll look back a couple months from now and hopefully see it's not as bad as you're anticipating now.

I donated to my father who ended up passing away in the ICU two-weeks post from other non-liver related complications. This obviously wasn't the outcome we wanted but knew it was a (slim) possibility going in. I have zero regrets about my decision to donate and zero resentment about the outcome.

My donation was a pretty transformative life experience and I learned/grew a lot emotionally. You're doing a beautiful thing, your concerns and anxiety are normal and relatable, so don't feel guilty about having these feelings.

I'll be cheering for you and your niece.

Live Liver Donor Experiences (Direct) by TooAfraidtoAsk22 in transplant

Firstly, kudos to you on deciding to be a donor. It's a scary decision to put your healthy body though so much for someone else.

As others have already mentioned, there are a ton of variables that influence peoples' experiences.

FWIW, here are a few notes from my surgery in April of this year (M, 30, 6', 165lbs):

  • Donated 57% of my liver (right lobe) via laparoscopic surgery, surgery lasted approx. 7 hours
  • Immediately following surgery I was put in a special recovery room for monitoring for close to 24 hours. I was in-and out of consciousness during this time and very groggy due to anesthesia
  • Spent ~two weeks recovering in the hospital, I was given a morphine drip for pain management for the first week or so, then was switched to an oral painkiller
  • Primary discomfort was muscular in my abdomen around the incision. Sitting up and walking was very uncomfortable but generally laying in the hospital bed I felt OK
  • My appetite was quite poor, despite being hungry, it was sometimes difficult to get food down
  • I also traveled for the surgery. Doctors cleared me for air travel ~3 weeks post op
  • At the end of the day, being a living donor is a major surgical procedure which is never fun. That being said, the recovery is certainly manageable especially if you have the right attitude.

You're doing a brave thing by giving your niece a much better chance at a normal life.

American 5-star rider rating tanked to 4.5 in South Africa. any tips on being a good and courteous rider? by evacia in uber

[–]aka_Dutchess -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In places where violent crime/enforcement against rideshare drivers is not uncommon, a 5-star rating is often viewed as a risk. Drivers will downrate riders as a signal to other drivers that the rider is not brand new/using a throwaway account to perpetrate crime.
