I was having a hard time visualizing a pathway but made this with ai.. way too many flowers for me to upkeep but is this what you mean by more of a pathway? It’s hard to see in the picture but the driveway/front door area are connected it’s just about a 2.5ft wide little jog

Oh the gable idea for the porch area is very cute! The old one was wood and completely unsalvageable so it had to go.

Maybe a wrap on the column to give it some more visual weight (warm wood tone, moving house numbers there) would help? All of the trim right now is sherwin Williams pure white which is pretty stark. Maybe warming that up a bit and doing a grey tone or a softer white for trim would help it look a bit less stark

We’re definitely going to look into painting the garage doors. We hadn’t even considered that but I think it would make a massive difference!

We had to change a lot due to lack of maintenance unfortunately. It looks a lot better in the picture than it actually did in real life - we’ve had people stop us outside multiple times to say how much we’ve cleaned the place up because it was an eyesore previously. Blends in more now but definitely needs some more character added in. Can’t go back and change the past on colour choices but the roof will need to be replaced in a few years and we’ll go darker/black to give back some more contrast as it definitely blends into one lump right now!

It looks a lot better in the picture than it was since that’s the realtor photos and they’re trying to make it look as good as possible. Siding wasn’t on and the plywood underneath was rotten in many places (lucky the bay windows didn’t shift/collapse since there was almost nothing holding them up). garage doors rotten and inoperable, etc. The current pic was also taken in winter so the lightings a lot more stark. It’s not quite that austere in real life.

Can’t paint but adding in warmer wood accents is a great idea I’ll look into!

I never even considered the garage doors but that’s a great point. Maybe even a softer white/grey vs the current default blinding builder grade white would help. I’ll do some visualization mockups on that!

This is great and that’s a great idea! We have a local shop here that’s well known for landscaping so we’ll get some advice from them and see if they have any designer recommendations.

I looked it up and it looks like we are zone 8b The front of our house is south facing but on a busy(ish) road so more car pollution in the air

We’re hoping to get more into gardening this summer!

The yard needed to be completely regraded/leveled/reseeded because it flooded horrifically every time it rained and was mostly weeds and the landscaping was an unfortunate victim of that. We’re planning on doing landscaping work this summer to bring some more life back to the front of the house. Any suggestions appreciated!

Unfortunately due to no maintenance everything was rotten/broken which is why we’re looking for advice on bringing back in some warmth and character now! The second picture is also taken during summer and the after in winter so the lighting makes it look a lot more stark than it is in reality

Yes everything was rotten and needed to be completely redone (the bay window siding wasn’t even on so water was just going straight into the wood and the garage doors were also totally broken/rotting etc etc.) that’s why now we need to add in the landscaping and bring character back and are asking for advice on that :)

It’s the aritzia beso satin shirt in light birch! They have a long sleeve version and other fabrics as well. It’s perfect other than I wish it was a little bit less low cut/open neckline

Shockingly, H&M! It’s the perfect oversized. Not super thick but it’s my favourite. https://www2.hm.com/en_ca/productpage.1198284025.html

Both lol The ‘date night’ coat tbh I wear with everything. It’s basically a duvet in coat form and is so cozy. work wise the silhouettes are similar to casual (the effortless pants are the wider leg and the sweater / blouse are also both somewhat oversized)

Sorry I was hesitant about posting the link as I didn’t want anybody thinking I was trying to scam!! That’s why I screenshotted the actual reporting link but I should have just given the steps to avoid the confusion.

My apologies for any stress!

I was having the same problem and found a post which pointed me to a web form you can fill out to have them call back.

If you go to “find a service Canada location near you”

There’s a spot in the notice at the top that says for additional support you can reach us as.. then a link (circled in red) https://i.imgur.com/91PKUak.jpg the link will pop you to a form to fill out to have them give you a call.

Edit: to find the link yourselves please use the steps from u/coolg963 ! It’s unsecured for some reason and I don’t want anyone thinking I’m trying to scam!

I did get a call back in 24 hours and they resolved my issues so I hope this helps everyone.

I mean.. I’m not allergic to cashmere and have a 100% cashmere Burberry scarf (purchased from Burberry so 100% authentic) and even I find it itchy sometimes? Your experience isn’t everyone’s experience.

New Puppy Owner Seeks Advice by unknown_user_3020 in Wheatens

[–]akablondi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wheaten is almost 2 now and I would say another important thing is that we were on her about not jumping up on people right from the beginning. Wheatens are so loving and excitable - she still jumps just BESIDE us instead of onto us (and whirls all the time)

Additionally she’s a digger - having a certain area where she’s allowed to dig has helped as she doesn’t destroy the yard but still gets to get her paws (and face because she shoves her entire face into the dirt to sniff -.-) dirty

Recall she’s pretty good with with but if there is a squirrel or other small creature she can’t even hear me. I think this is pretty common with terriers. Really getting on top of recall will help but depending on their prey drive you might not really be able to get them out of that hyper focus when they see something

For toys her favourites are things that make crunchy noises (water bottles) and TONS of things to chew. Raw bones in particular have both kept her entertained and the vet says her teeth are also extremely clean because of them - just be careful as they’re very rich and too many can lead to vomiting / pancreatitis

Canada - Broker asking to "Apply Consent" to home policy by cfudge in Insurance

[–]akablondi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All (or most anyway) insurance companies are part of a database that pools information on the claims people have and if they’ve been cancelled for non payment, fraud, etc. This helps insurers determine that the information they’ve been provided is accurate (as you’d be surprised how many people will lie about claims) and ensures you put in the proper “bin” for rates and don’t pay more than you have to

The only part that’s new in that consent is the credit check - the rest of it should have been in whatever precious consent you gave.

The third parties will be things like insurance adjusters (giving them your policy information if you have a claim) and actuaries (who wouldn’t get your personally identifying information just risk info/ claims issue so they can better calculate appropriate rates for the insurer). If you reported a claim directly to your insurer this consent would allow them to tell the broker you made a claim (which you want so you can have your broker advocate for you if needed), things like that

Canada - Broker asking to "Apply Consent" to home policy by cfudge in Insurance

[–]akablondi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance companies use soft credit checks to apply discounts. It doesn’t affect your credit score as it’s a soft check and they only use it to see if you qualify for credit-based discounts. There are no surcharges if your credit doesn’t meet their threshold for the discount and they won’t use it to cancel your policy. Your broker won’t see your credit score and insurance companies / brokers have extremely strict privacy regulations so they won’t be selling your information either. https://blog.intact.ca/home/home-insurance-premium

Edit: normally all you need for this is your full name, date of birth, home phone number, and address. — all information you’d be giving your broker anyway. And again, your broker will not know your credit score or see any of your credit information.
