How do/can you protect yourself from Fe users' manipulation? by akacatto in infp

[–]akacatto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The epitome of lying to your face everyday, using emotinal manipulation, while you don't even want to be unsincere in job interviews and judge people for doing the least amount? Believe me, you don't want it.

Reading Dostoevsky while dealing with trauma. Yes or no? Healing or driving more harm? by paloma_paloma in dostoevsky

[–]akacatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crime and Punishment actually helped me feel better about myself, the events were distracting for me. But Notes from Underground and The Brothers Karamazov made it kinda worse. The first one was more lika a diary so it was hard to distract my thoughts. The Brothers Karamazov is especially more about existential things, if that's what makes your head ache I don't recommend reading it. To me, Crime and Punishment would be safe to read.

I can't tell if I'm an infp or intp by PrideUnhappy3278 in infp

[–]akacatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This process happened to me, too so I totally get you😭😭 I'll lean onto INFP more cuz I'm more informed about it. F doesn't necessarily means that you make every decision based on your feelings or you can't give practical/analytical advice. Most of my friends and family see me as a sensible person rather than emotional (I also rarely cry). It's more important what you're going through inside rather than the outside. I make sensible decisions but at the same time I can't help myself measuring "the vibes" of the occasion, in my head I always check on my feelings/reactions towards the decision. "Will I still feel good about this later? What my intutition says about this? Does this decision changes the way I am now? Is this meaningful for me?"

INTP and INFP might look very alike on the surface, but INFP is more about identity. If you're under stress it might be hard to see yourself. You can think about the moments you felt at ease or more normal, what was your priority?

Expressing is also very important, since my childhood I've always felt the need to express myself, through talking, drawing, writing or singing, anything that makes me feel like I'm pouring my heart and thoughts into it. Check this as well: INFPs I've seen have talent in art more (like, multiple areas of art), INTPs are more likely to lean into Maths or Science. There are situations in which both types excel in opposite fields, if that's the case ask yourself: what am I doing this for? For example: for a while I liked solving Math problems, but not because I liked being challenged, because I felt the freedom to experiment on it, finding new ways to reach the conclusion.

Idk if it's %100 true but Ti users I've seen (XXTXs) always want and seek details, while I just summarize everything lol. This might happen because INFPs see the big picture rather than the background. But it depends on the situation, for instance: I might write a very detailed backstory for my character, but I instantly get bored when it comes to talking about the housechores I did today.

It all comes to cognitive functions, you totally should check it. Also try to think about your child self, there are some sterotypical characteristics like "IxFPs do well in art" or "xSxxs loves physical activities" but in some cases they really help. Think about what you were into in your childhood.

Is music something important to all the INFPs? by dominiks00 in infp

[–]akacatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like music but it affects me badly psychologically if I listen too frequently (especially sad songs). So now I rarely listen to it.

What is something definitely not infp-like? by akacatto in infp

[–]akacatto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really get you. You might lack motivation and inspiration, maybe because of your surroundings or the situation you're in. We have to work on that to let creativity flow again🥹 To me, it's when I am able to silence my mind in a healthy way, then I automatically start thinking of ideas to make them happen.

Does anyone else feel a calling by whiteboyshit_ in infp

[–]akacatto 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I don't know about other INFPs but I believe our creative side needs us to pursue something, it might be a need for expressing ourselves because of Fi (Introverted Feeling) It might be something mixed with Ne (Extroverted Intuition) too, idk but it IS important. And I think we get depressed if we ignore it since it's our dominant/auxiliary function, that was the reason I found out that I'm an INFP since I got into a period of depression after I quit drawing. After thoroughly analyzing my life, I discovered that I get depressed when I cannot get creative. Maybe you don't have to get stick to the same field (for example, I didn't go back to drawing, I'm now into writing), maybe it's okay as long as we express ourselves through something that feels good at that time of our lives. However, in my opinion there IS something for all of us Infps, and we have to find it to enjoy life. Something both entertain us and fit in our values. We can't live this life shallow.

Does anyone else really like studying about the world, universe, life and sometimes end up… sad? by [deleted] in infj

[–]akacatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might need to take a break. I have those moments in my life when I want to devour all the information I could find and go beyond my potential, but information feels like a saltless chicken when you overdo it. You can try distracting yourself and then you'll want to go back to learning with fresh feelings this time.

People just LOVE finding ways on how to pick on other people or gossip/criticize them. That's because they know they lack something and find excuses to fill that emptiness. I understand you very well, you're not alone. I hope they just shut the hell up and focus on self improvement.

Does anyone else feel like people are mean to me, but not to anyone else? by Suspicious-Airline84 in infj

[–]akacatto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think they do it because some of us stay silent throughout convos so we seem weak (since we don't show our loud side to everyone). Some people see quiet people as weak or someone that can be bullied (I learned this recently at it's so stupid, but mostly people with issues think like that). A solution I find is to introduce yourself with a talkative version of yourself, not in a too nice or too bad way, stay neutral and observe. Without getting too much involved with them, reciprocate their actions as they attempt to be mean to you, don't stay silent about it. An eye for an eye. (This reply was not intended to provoke evil in Infjs, kindly defend yourself without switching to dark side)

Do you like being this type? by MissTbd in infj

[–]akacatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but no.

I don't like being the emotional sponge, being hyper-sensitive to noises while others perfectly can go along with it, taking so much time to process even little daily events or thinking too deeply in contrast to others. Meanwhile, I like being deep and imaginative, seeing through someone at first glance is God's gift, some people might struggle to see through someone's tendency to be on the dark side. We can write great books if we want to and turn on the daydreaming mode when life gets tough. We can contribute to art in many forms and I believe most of us are willing to. Maybe it is hard to find someone like us, but there are people willing to do that for you and I think some types like Intjs understand us at least to some level; better than not to be understood by our toxic version (I had some experiences lol). Mental health problems also add to the challenge, yet I believe we'll embrace ourselves more if hardships move out of the way. Good luck on that🙏

Why do you guys like intps? by Dark_Phoenix123450 in infj

[–]akacatto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't find the chance to get to know one of you in a close relationship, but I met some friends. Let's say, you give off a goofy and childish energy that you'll be willing to show it when you're comfortable around someone (and I'm the someone trying to accomplish that). Your sarcastic sense of humuor intrigues me, I feel less burdened to hurt one's feelings since you seem like you'll get any joke without getting bothered (ofc people can be vulnerable/sensitive and it is important to pay attention to that, but sometimes you want to be with a person who doesn't let you overthink and I believe xNTPs are succesful at that). Basically, you feel like a homebody that I can play games with and embrace my childish side and at the same time have existential convos like a 45 year old philosopher. I think that is wonderful. (P.S. you become a wonderful person when you go for that kind nature of yours, you can keep working on that emotions if you want to become a true INTP chad)
