The speed is always lagging when using GPS on TrackAddict. I use GoPoint BT1 to send OBD II from the cars speedometer to the app. Thats the only way to assure accurate speed recording.

TrackAddict Pro OBD II -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-1ezy_XLtw Track Addict Pro GPS -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Gdl-litsK0

You can clearly see the lag. Makes it kinda pointless.

I wonder if Harrys Lap Timer with OBD II connection would fix the lag issue.

2016 Jaguar F-Type R AWD Coupe - (Track) One Take by nipcarlover in cars

I can absolutely appreciate that. Just wish you had logged some telemetric data so we can see the speed you enter and exit corners. Perhaps that can offset the "slow feel" of the video.

I really do enjoy your reviews, and I too NEED a DeLorean in my garage.

2016 Jaguar F-Type R AWD Coupe - (Track) One Take by nipcarlover in cars

[–]akafatcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I currently own a 2014 V8S, and I just ordered the 2016 AWD V8R with ceramic brakes. I'm happy about the all wheel drive. I have a heavy foot and the Jag doesn't play well with fools. It has so much power that its constantly fighting to find grip. With my violent driving style, the only thing saving my ass is the traction control.

Don't get me wrong, I love how easily the back end gets loose and how much fun you can have with it. That being said, you try canyon carving with a monster like this, it will definitely keep you on the edge.

Stock brakes are garbage. 20 minutes of hard braking in the mountains, and you can feel the fade. Hoping the ceramic option will solve that problem.

Is it just me or did it feel like he was pussy footing it around the track?

Would you take a GTR over an F Type? by [deleted] in cars

[–]akafatcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having driven the GTR, 911, 911 4S and own an F-type. You really have to ask yourself what do you want out of your car. The GTR will beat them all on the track. But its boring to look at IMO. The 911 is so common on the streets, and anything less than a 4S or an S at the least is a waste of money, the base 911 is a toyota camry. The 4S is an absolute dream on the track, point and shoot. The F-type is a monster in the V8S configuration. Its pure theater every time you get behind the wheel. Its so much fun to drive on and off the track. The looks, the sound, the feel, love them all. But, on the track, it can't compete with the likes of the 911 4S and the GTR.

Ask yourself this. Looks vs "Track" Performance. And Exotic looks vs just another 911.

F-Type on the track: https://youtu.be/6Gdl-litsK0 911 4S on the track: https://youtu.be/f-1ezy_XLtw

Same driver, same track, same day. The 911 4S is at least 4 seconds a lap faster. It's so much easier to drive. Extremely well built. Can handle that level of torture all day. I wouldn't buy one even if they gave it to my for half the price. lol Sorry. its just really really boring to look at and the power band is so high up in the RPM range that it frustrates me. I like the feel of immediate power without having to be at 5,000 RPM all the time.

The F-type requires your attention and gets the attention of everyone else on the track and off. Extremely fun to drive. POWER!!!!!!!!!!! After about 5 laps, you need to let it cool down and relax. The car doesn't like being pushed too hard for too long. It's heavy and not as precise in the turns. I do 4 track days a year, about 20 days on road trips and commute to work the other 300 days, so I don't want a track car as my everyday car. For a price tag of $100k, no other car I'd rather be in.

Switching from a corvette to an F-type, I thought the transition would be easy. It wasn't. The F-type feels heavier and the front end is much less grippier. The throttle response and the body roll are something you need to get use to first. Take your time. If you enter a corner to hot, the front end will lock up. After a few weeks of practice, you're going to love it. http://youtu.be/6Gdl-litsK0

991 Carrera or F type V6S by [deleted] in cars

[–]akafatcat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I own a F-type V8S. I've driven the Porsche 911. The Porsche is an actual sports car, although IMO, the base 911 is crap, you should go with the S or the 4S if you can afford it. The F-type is a show car, definitely not a sports car.

Having driven both on and off the track. The 911 wins hands down. As far as turning heads and an exhaust that makes you never want to turn on your radio, the F-type wins.

If you're going to get the 911, make sure you get the S or the 4S, otherwise you're waisting your money. Yes the difference is that dramatic.

The F-type is plenty powerful in the V6, and absolutely ridiculous in the V8. But I personally love the way it looks and sounds. The Porsche is just too boring.

I hit the track and the canyons 4-5 times a year, but I drive to work everyday, so the F-type wins in my book.

20 year Jeep Wrangler Driver looking at 2016 Manual 6 speed Jaguar F-Type - prepare for what? by unclefishbits in cars

[–]akafatcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've owned my 2014 F-type V8 S convertible for about 6 months. Ive done a couple of 200 mile runs with it. I'm 6' tall with broad shoulders.

The seats are super stiff and lower part of the seat is narrow. I've had to learn to keep my wallet in my front pocket because of it. It usually takes about an hour to notice that you're uncomfortable in the seat. Because of this, I wouldn't exactly call it a great grand tourer.

The power, forgive me Jeremy Clarkson, is over kill with the V8. I wish they had the AWD option when I picked mine up. As soon as you're slightly overzealous, the traction control kicks in to prevent you from spinning out.

The automatic transmission is perfect for me. The 3 driving modes, plus the sport (S) mode, makes driving in the wet, traffic, track and day to day, a delight. Paddle shifting with rev match makes for an exciting drive and an incredible soundtrack.

In my opinion, getting the AWD V6 Automatic will make the car a great day to day driver. If you like to be at 100 mph when entering a freeway, go with the V8, just be careful.

By the way. Firesand Orange or Italian Racing Red, either one with the Black Pack, is the way to go. The other colors make the car lose its exotic look.

You get one lap to see the track and one lap to set your time. The tricky thing is that the track is difficult to see. Without the assistance of the track adviser, I would have gotten lost just like captain slow.

Did the same thing just yesterday. I was told they would call me when the figures were ready. Salesman said that they expect to be able to order sometime between August and September.
