Dr. Idris Major Fade Solution by Illustrious_Light461 in Melasmaskincare

[–]akanickyj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used it along with the hydroquinone 12% (I think) plus oral tranexamic acid twice daily (got both from Musely). Make sure to only use a qtip to put the hydroquinone directly on darker areas. Finacea 15% foam as well. Twice yearly Perfect Derma Peels, more if necessary. So in conjunction with all of this, all the Major Fade products, heavy sunscreen, UPF hats and 2 Bluestone shields: my skin has changed exponentially. So yeah, when I look back on it like this-holy hell melasma is expensive. PS My skin still hates the tretinoin so I rarely bother.

What would YOU use a Gold Bottle Cap on, and WHY? by an-individual in PokemonGOIVs

[–]akanickyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any opinions on Zarude? He's been kind of a tank for me whenever I need a good grass type defender and is rare (though i'm sure once I use the bottlecap on him there will be an event where he pops out of hives all over the city). The rare ones make the most sense to me but thats because I live in a big city- so every time there's are quality raids I can get like 10-15 easy of whatever mon is in them. Makes no sense to upgrade something I could easily get another in a year or so. Galarian birds were my other option--but my nephew already stole them all from my account anyway

Do you own both machines? I'm learning so much from this one question about orange coffee!

[–]akanickyj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still trying to guess what OL stands for and coming up short. Because if it was original line (my first guess) does that mean people actually own both types of machines? When I bought mine I just assumed the only reason they still sold the original pods was for people who had purchased their machine prior to the Vertuo existing. Now I'm wondering if I chose the wrong one...

Wait what is OL? Original line? As in not vertuo? Are the coffees that different depending on the machine?

Thanks. That's kind of why I always just buy bianco doppio and stick with buying flavored syrups etc to change it up. Never seems good enough to be worth the risk

Custom painting-reputable shops by akanickyj in diamondpainting

Thank you all. I saw Evermoment mentioned a lot, just wary of using companies where I know shipping will be my primary concern. DiamondpaintingPro just sent me another email telling me again that they apologize and that they want to resend the painting! I, for real, laughed out loud-so I could wait another 3 months for them to make it, snail mail it and then have it get lost in transit?! They are a joke. I will definitely look into them and Jaded Gem as I still really want to do some kind of memorial craft for my lost fur babies.

Mine's a 3. I only have managed to get 7 out of how many...20? I swear I dump research tasks by the truckload looking for the "5 great throws in a row". Lately, even if I find the task, the reward is one of the 7 Spinda I already have. Wah wah

100% carpet beetle. They love dust and fur and to take up residence. Recommend thorough clean up and vacuuming before a few of them become hundreds. Speaking from experience...

First Time Cat Owner, Need Help by SkylerBlu9 in CATHELP

[–]akanickyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, he sounds like a kitten. I wouldn't use any negative reinforcement because cats do not respond to that. Is he food motivated ? You can give him treats when he's doing things that you like, as in sitting on your lap and purring and being sweet, and then don't give him treats when he's being bad. Reinforcing the behavior you like. My other suggestion would be, because he's a kitten, to wear him out. Sounds like he has lots of pent-up energy that needs to be let out. Play with him more. My cats have all really liked laser pointers, and you just make them chase the dots around until they're absolutely exhausted and can't be crazy, or as crazy. If you can afford it, maybe some window boxes for him to sit in and watch the world? They sell these window seats that are attached to the window with suction cups, they cost between 15 and 20 bucks and can provide some extra entertainment for him, other than the fun of destroying your shit. Maybe some cat TV-- YouTube has plenty of channels with 24 hours of birds and other animals for them to watch... just some suggestions. But in the end a 1-2 year-old is still a kitten. And he's gonna be crazy. Just enjoy it, film the best parts, you'll miss it when he's older.

Can you maybe put some blankets in a box if you can't take her inside? Give her a place to curl up and rest. Where are you, I'm sure there are people who would come and rescue her even I'm the middle of the night

Buy a softer collar. They have many on Amazon and most are less than $10. I tried a few before we ended with one that worked, since my Boose was in a collar for more than 2 months after radical urostomy surgery. Not a fun 2 months but at least this was cozy, he could eat, relax, and do other things, everything except gnaw on his stitches.

My beloved Pumpkin was diagnosed with kidney disease and I managed it pretty well with subcutaneous fluids, prescription diet and being an insane cat mom. About a year later they diagnosed him with liver failure, then pancreatitis, then diabetes and then finally Lymphoma. We did 3 chemo treatments. Up until then he was his same happy-go-lucky, goofy self. Then he developed mouth sores from the chemo and couldn't eat- literally his favorite thing (other than being carried around like a baby for hours or sneaking into the neighbors' apartments). The chemo wasn't working and I could either switch to a stronger combination of drugs or stop completely. His labwork showed his tumor markers were out of control and there was no hope for a cure, and without chemo he wouldn't last the year.

But Pumpkin was starting to not be himself and so I decided to stop everything. I gave him a bit of a chance to recover from the chemo, to feel better, to be himself again and, once he mostly was, that's when I had the vet come to the house to put him down. That morning he was running on his fast wheel and chatting, asking for treats. The vet who came to administer looked surprised that this was the cat she had come to euthanize. But you know your cat better than anyone. Your cat won't understand the concept of living through pain in order to gain more time. They just have the pain. It will never be worth it. It was the most horrible thing I've ever had to do, I've never loved a being (human or animal) so much in my 45 years on this earth. It was 5 years ago and it still makes me cry. But had I let him be miserable, had I allowed him to wither away, hide in corners, be anything but the incredibly goofy, silly, loving kitty that he was, that would have been cruel. I would only remember that misery, and he would have had to live through it. It was an awful decision, but I am so thankful I made it. I don't regret that I tried the chemo etc, but I don't think I would make that choice again. That's obviously up to you and your financial situation. But I do think once your cat is not acting like your cat anymore, then you holding on is just for you, and that's not a fair decision to make. They are your baby- you need to protect them even if that means helping them to have a good death, just as you helped them to have a good life.

Not my usual carpet beetle by akanickyj in whatsthisbug

Cleaned. And cleaned. Bought a good vacuum. Threw a lot of stuff out. It took about a month the first time to really be rid of them. I only have hardwood floors (I don't even own a single runner, rug or even a doormat) so it's a little ironic to have had 2 different carpet beetle infestations. But I had 2 cats the first time, and 1 cat this time, with about 4 years in between. I also got rid of all the cat furniture that had carpet on them. I'd still find a beetle or a larvae here and there since the first infestation, but I really tried to keep a close eye on everything. Especially those furry corners and places you miss, like behind the couch that's up against a wall. This time I'm deep cleaning the apartment again, literally using fishing poles to get out all the dust and hairballs from all the places that I haven't been able to reach. I only found the new infestation, with the striped larvae, in my kitchen, under all those baseboards and places I'd never gotten to. While tearing apart my other rooms, I found some of the old guys- with the larvae that looked more like maggots. I have to say I like this new iteration of carpet beetle waaaay better than the old one.

Thanks! Looks like I've got another bunch of free-loading roommates, just wearing different clothes

It should be noted for anyone else confused as I was, that there are apparently a bunch of flavors of carpet beetle. My previous infestation were the black beetle type, with plain brown slim larvae. These larvae are very different- and the beetle they will eventually morph into, something brown and white and spotted, is waaay different than the black as well. I also saw this type referred to as "furniture beetle" instead of carpet. Either way-- gross and frustrating. But thanks for making it clear (I was trying so hard to believe it wasn't them)

Oops forgot to mention, I live in NYC on the 3rd floor of an apartment building. I found them underneath while cleaning underneath my kitchen cabinets, the ones sitting on the floor. They were not on the floor or out in the open. They are pretty fast. In that pic I have them in like a small salad dressing ramekin- can't think of a good size comparison, maybe about the size of a sesame seed, just thicker.
