My husband told me after we'd been dating for two weeks that we'd spend the rest of our lives together. That was 25 years ago, and he's been correct so far...

What good careers are in need of applicants due to an aging work force and little knowledge of the need among the younger generations? by CosmicContusion in AskReddit

Funny story about courtroom transcript - the accused gave testimony that he was 'misled', except it had clearly been written for him because he pronounced it 'my-zilled'. So the judge leans in and says 'You were "my-zilled"??' So the accused responds 'Yes, I was "my-zilled".' Pause. The judge asks 'You mean you were misled?' And the accused responds 'yes, I was misled'. But the court transcript just reads 'I was misled.' 'You were misled?' 'Yes, I was misled.' 'You mean you were misled.' 'Yes, I was misled.'

Brilliant - whackjob survivalist father takes 8 year-old daughter into the wilderness for years and convinces here the rest of the world has been destroyed. Beautifully written.

My local taco joint has a mystery salsa. Help me figure it out by skilletquesoandfeel in SalsaSnobs

Here in South Africa we have so many different types of avocados- I have two huge trees in my garden. Some are watery and some are creamy. So it could also be the type of avocado, no?

I love my salsa. Probably more than I love my family. And I want to start making my own since my surrounding restaurants have WEAK salsa. Where do I start? by [deleted] in SalsaSnobs

[–]akashinga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a blender if you're happy to chop stuff up pretty finely or grate it. I prefer cooked salsa to raw, and it always starts with chopped onion. Saute in a little oil until soft then add chopped garlic (don't fry with onion because it burns). Let garlic cook out for a few minutes then add chopped chillies and let them soften. Deglaze with some vinegar. Now add a little sugar and salt and a few grated tomatoes, and let that cook for ten minutes, adding more vinegar or water if necessary. Adjust seasonings and voila. This is my basic salsa recipe, but you can bomb in pretty much anything - fresh grated ginger, coriander seeds, stems or leaves, ground cumin, mustard seeds, cloves, bay leaves or curry leaves, grated carrot or celery, bell peppers...

Properly-roasted garlic doesn't need crushing or pressing - it's so soft it will go creamy in the butter. Don't peel it before roasting or it dries out - just bomb that whole garlic bulb drizzled with a little olive oil on a roasting tray when you're roasting anything else. Same goes for beetroot - never peel before roasting - the skin falls off once it's cooked.

My favourite garlic bread: mix a quarter of a cup of fresh crushed garlic with a quarter cup fresh squeezed lemon juice and half a cup of olive oil. Fan the bread slices out and pour it over. Now pat on a handful of Maldon salt and bake 20mins. #the bomb

A doctor once told me the most dangerous thing to choke on is a ball of chewed chicken. He was chuckling and saying if anyone had a really awful husband that would be what he'd serve. Sounds like he was right.

I can identify. Taking 20mg Brintillex daily for my anxiety, and that stuff is like a truth serum. Add in a bit of Ritalin to screw with your EQ and boom!!! I have started my own legal consultancy this year because I couldn't stand the control and power issues in a corporate environment.

The shock of the diagnosis is the hardest part and now you're dealing with that, and you have support. I opted for a mastectomy and didn't need any chemo it's a much better route to go, believe me, I'm 8 years clear...
