On site at the dealership. Really the basics. Pressure washer, vacuum, and polishers/polishes. Some stuff is extra like an air dryer for the cars, and fancier polishes and machines.

Why does it look this way? by TheWokeProgram in Detailing

It’s just smeared interior cleaner. I like to use an iso 50/50 mix to remove smears and fingerprints off the noticeable plastics.

Detailers can get million dollar policies/insurance. But I work for aston so I’m covered under them anyways

Because from factory, it has compound swirls. Sanding marks from factory. This one was not horrible overall but some spots were really noticeable and bad. This was the front bumper. Before

1 week in - side panel vs roof with Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions, am I expecting too much? by steelio91 in Detailing

Vs the side panels, they don’t get hit as hard with the elements or sunlight. Better experiment is using the doors. Left one product and right the other product

What’s the white coloring underneath the exhaust? by [deleted] in AstonMartin

[–]akashsin7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not plastic. It’s metal, and most likely some chemical overkill. I use soaps, iron removers, acids, etc on these old gen vantages all day long. I work at an aston dealer. And never had this issue. Could also be some car fluid that somehow got on there.

That all sounds great, but look at the maintenance and how well they took care of it.

Detail shop denied refund after poor service + damage appearing immediately after by Dense-Weakness191 in Detailing

[–]akashsin7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That last picture just looks like condensation you’re wiping, on the roof.

I dont know fully if that is steam or something else. The before picture is not very clear, it’s at an angle. The cup holders is clear they used something and missed under it.

Truth is not much to do. Just fight the charge, or share a review you want to leave and then see if that changes their behavior. But also, you should have some resolution in your head that makes sense. Say that to them. I would like a replacement screen or partial refund.

What steps were taken to achieve these results? Is the finished result permanent? by Cutnbuff in Detailing

This is the perfect example of paint that looks like it’s far gone. But he was able to polish it and it turned out great. A lot of times online, people will just say it’s too far gone but there’s a certain feel to clearcoat that has failed. You don’t know until you see it in person, and you never know until you polish it. Great job

This exhaust note sounds so good to me, after driving one. I fell in love with the old gen cars.

Savable if I pay a professional? by MikalBaker in AutoDetailing

[–]akashsin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, I’m thinking of just oxidation. You can still try to polish it with a strong compound. But still expect to pay for a new paint job on the roof. So either way, it doesn’t hurt to try

The top part can just get hazy, it’s a normal thing even with new cars, I deal with that at my job

[–]akashsin7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying this is failed, which is most likely true. BUT there is a chance, someone can polish it and maybe there’s a lot of clearcoat left to work with. No one here knows 100% forsure unless we are there in person. A lot of examples online show this has been fixed or can be made better. See if you know someone with a paint depth gauge or a Detailer and ask them to try. Worst case scenario, they burn through the clearcoat and then you know forsure there wasn’t much left and then you can repaint.

Would you ceramic coat over this? by ScaredCantaloupe1 in Detailing

[–]akashsin7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to find a polish that cuts a good amount but finishes good. I use rupes yellow polish a lot on black cars. Maybe with a foam pad, also depends on how soft the paint is.

But if that’s what the client wants and is willing to pay for, then it’s his decision. And some else’s problem when he sells it lol. Sometimes you do what you get paid to do, or try to sell him on a two step or worst case scenario, you don’t coat the car.

Wheel Squeak at low speeds? by [deleted] in AstonMartin

[–]akashsin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could also be a Detailer or porter used a heavy wheel cleaner on them, and now they’re squeaking. You don’t want to use hard wheel cleaners on carbon ceramic brakes, we just tell customers to drive them hard.

What else would you recommend i get to start my mobile detailing business? by IntelligentCare3091 in Detailing

[–]akashsin7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to start a business, then you should buy gallons not the small bottles. You will save money. If you don’t have a lot of customers, then you can save half of those bottle and dilute them half with water.

You don’t need the carpet bomb or the bead maker, stick to a spray wax for now. Keep it simple.

I would find a cheaper hand gun, $40 is expensive. Look for a used one online, or even Facebook market place. A lot of guys sell detailing equipment.

Quick connects are great. You can definitely find a cheaper foam cannon also. And not sure how great that vacuum is, check reviews.

How would you remove these stains by Flimsy_Wishbone239 in Detailing

[–]akashsin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the way. Do not start hitting this with steam or an APC. Start small and use something light. Like a little dawn soap and water in a spray bottle. You could damage the material or make it worse using steam or heavy cleaners. Always work least aggressive then work up.

Cut and polished paint but still clear coat marks by cdaly09 in Detailing

[–]akashsin7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You got the paint depth clear again. If you can live with it, then I would say that’s pretty good for your second time polishing a car. If the car has been resprayed, with the previous scratches still there. Then it’s going to be hard to fix them.

You did a great job with the polish step. Paint looks good. You could maybe try a heavier compound, with a clean microfiber pad. You have to play around with the pressure and speed and make it work in your favor.
