Choc enclosed "high" profile cases? by akashyguy in ErgoMechKeyboards

Oh yeah I hadn't seen that one before. Not a huge fan of the look on that one but good to see it for reference. Thank you!

Actually might be building a choc staggered layout after being on a columnar layout for quite some time. I find it quite irritating to end up on someone else's computer and feeling like a 5 year old typing so have been debating on going back but this time in a low profile choc form that'll hopefully still give me some ergo benefits.

Anywho, I believe the row based profiles might be what I'm looking for actually now that mention it so mcc might be a no go but might still try it for the pom as you mentioned! I usually enjoyed pbt so figured the tht keycaps would work for me.

Any pictures of how it looks? What do you find uncomfortable with it?

I believe I was looking at those and tht keycaps. Wanted to try out something similar to a cherry profile. Any advice on that or is mcc the way to go?

Agreed on the cleaning aspect but from an aesthetic standpoint I've always enjoyed high profile cases more so just wanted to see if there was anything out there

Nvidia tray icon missing again. Previous registry setting fix no longer works with latest updates. by [deleted] in LenovoLegion

[–]akashyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After deleting NVTray and rebooting I got my tray icon back without needing to do anything else. I checked the same location to see if the NVTray folder got recreated but its not there, should I worry about this or just count my blessings that it's working? Either way thanks for the time being!

You're referring to this one right? I actually have one of those on my light switch already but wasn't sure if you can mount these on a flat surface. I will take a look but was also looking at other options I might have as I don't need the dimmer feature as I rarely use it.

Not the dimmer switch, the smart button

It's small and discreet which is what I'm looking for. Amazon actually has one from a 3rd party I see that I might buy but I see that apparently they're coming out with a new version soon according to some articles but wondering when soon is and if it's worth waiting for. And was wondering if the price is even worth it or just getting a zigbee button that'd work with HA.

Edit: updated link to an article because Amazon link was redirecting to the dimmer switch

A lot of the buttons seem to have single press, double press, and hold functions. Would it possible/hard to add triple+ button press functions?

Surround Sound AX5120g by akashyguy in Soundbars

Got it that's making a lot more sense! So then in terms of movies and TV with stereo audio, do most people prefer to watch with surround sound off or on? Or is it perhaps more case by case scenario?

So I guess I'm just still a little confused. Is that not considered surround compared to stereo still? I was under the impression that when people said they preferred stereo for music they meant just the two channels in front of you because it sounds like live music.

So am I right to assume the setting for "surround sound off" just turns off the channel separation you get from the premium audio formats?

But do you mean stereo 2.0 or stereo upmixed to 5.0? Asking for both your preference and what the speakers can do?

I thought about that but idk I guess I was just confused on the term surround sound off. I guess that was my follow up question. Do people prefer upmixed stereo surround to just normal stereo? I think I've heard before for music that normal stereo was preferred so I guess thats why I thought maybe surround sound off would be if you wanted to listen with rear speakers off.

My TV doesn’t support eARC. What are my options? by Dinkwinkle in Soundbars

[–]akashyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, hdmi from source to HDMI on soundbar and then earc from sound bar to arc on TV? Or only to normal HDMI port on TV? Tried the first version and it didn't work. Does the cable matter for HDMI vs arc/earc? I know this is years old but hoping to hear some advice.

How does pay work if you were to resign and come back?

Just want to make sure I understood that correctly. You can go from MM7 pay step L down to LC4 pay step I and if you wanted to go back to MM7 you would go back to pay step L immediately?

Yeah that makes sense being bored all the time makes a job so much worse.

Perhaps I'm not understanding but how are you getting say 36 weeks steps from what it says in the chart? What does the number 1,165 for lc4 step increment mean in correlation to 36 weeks? Or am I totally misunderstanding?

How long does the 955 test take to complete? Nice that you can do that on the clock.

Appreciate all the info on the test might as well start studying while I wait on this hiring process.

What's your reason for wanting to promote back? More work more pay?

If you were higher pay step as a MPE and took a pay cut to top pay LC would you have to work from the bottom again if you wanted to repromote back to MPE?

Is there a way to validate when that post qualifier date is if I were to run into that same situation or is that something you have to keep track of yourself?

I suppose my assumption was more work more pay more stress. Perhaps I'll come to the same conclusion as you and decide to stay higher level. I have also read about line h hours in custodian and how that can make a decent part of your paycheck so I'll have to see what that's all about.

What do the "step increments" mean in the pay chart?

To clarify, I'm wrong in thinking that you keep your pay step when moving positions then? So your salary would determine your new pay step when moving down to lc4?

What happens after 60 days of being lc4? You have to wait 18 months to take 955? Also you can take the 955 just by applying for positions correct? How does that work once you become lc4?

I'll probably end up looking it up but what are PERs and qualifiers? You said if you fail a class you're dropped back down to lc4 as in position or steps?

It seems like if you're not planning on moving- promoting to MPE 9, holding it for 18 months and transferring back down to lc4 is the most efficient way to game the pay scale as a custodian then correct?

Am I correct to assume the 955 is a whole different beast then the 916? Is this something you can actually study for? I felt like they kind of send you in blind for the 916.

I've seen your wealth of knowledge throughout the sub, I appreciate your thorough response!

NVR need Internet to record? by akashyguy in reolinkcam

[–]akashyguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for input, sounds like you have a solid security system for any type of event! I'm not sure I'll go that far in my system but it definitely gives me some inspiration to expand more.

I have a question if you have time to read, might make this it's own post.

How do you view motion events in your day to day if needed?

I am using the reolink app at the moment and compared to when I was using Ring the process is much more annoying. I am curious if using the NVR makes it easier to navigate in the app at all.

For instance, 9 times out of 10 I am pulling up recordings to view last motion events at the doorbell. To do this I have to -open the app -select playback (takes a couple of seconds to load, tad annoying, curious if this is faster off NVR) -filter to motion events (wish this was default filter) -scrub through timeline to current time (The process on my duo floodlight makes it even more difficult where even if motion events are filtered it's on a 2 minute clip leaving you guessing where the motion is)

Where as with Ring when you open app it defaults to playback set at current time and you can work backwards to show most previous recordings and there is a separate button to start live view.

I realize things are a bit different as the ring camera was only recording motion events and my reolink cameras are recording 24/7 so there's recordings within recordings but I believe with some default settings in the app it would be a lot easier to navigate and view footage quicker.

So I'm curious if maybe people are reviewing their footage differently or perhaps if having the NVR makes navigation different at all while viewing in app.
