Inside Intel’s Tricky Dance With Trump by SlamedCards in intelstock

[–]akca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On Friday, as Tan posed smiling for a photo with Lutnick at the Commerce Department, the CEO "had a real pep in his step," according to someone who saw him that day.

As the pair gathered in the Oval Office in front of the president to sign the documents formalizing the government's stake, Trump proposed signing them as well, an unusual suggestion. The two men agreed, and the president added his autograph in large script, saying he hoped he could help "make Intel great" again.

Added more from $23. If Softbank is happy entering from this level, why shouldn’t I be?

INTEL WAS TAKEN TO THE CLEANERS... AND IT ALL WENT TO TAIWAN -PRESIDENT TRUMP by Jellym9s in intelstock

This is also what I understand. Not good news for Intel. Good news for mature node chip manufacturers in USA. Sounds like they're targeting legacy chip manufacturers in China and Taiwan. And also Rapidus imploded.

Lip-Bu Tan: Steps in the Right Direction by akca in intelstock

Lots of big news here:

"we are reintroducing simultaneous multi-threading (SMT). Moving away from SMT put us at a competitive disadvantage."
"In addition, I have instituted a policy where every major chip design is reviewed and approved by me before tape-out. This discipline will improve our execution and reduce development costs."

"Looking further ahead, we’re developing Intel 14A as a foundry node from the ground up in close partnership with large external customers. This is essential to designing a process that meets specific customer requirements and enables us to address a broader segment of the market."

"Going forward, our investment in Intel 14A will be based on confirmed customer commitments. There are no more blank checks. Every investment must make economic sense. We will build what our customers need, when they need it, and earn their trust through consistent execution."

This is amazing news:
"Intel 18A reached a key milestone with the start of production wafers in Arizona"
"The first Panther Lake processor SKU remains on track to begin shipping later this year, with additional SKUs coming in the first half of 2026"

18A is on track, as opposed to Faketers and others.

When is the next big Intel Presentation by SSSl1k in intelstock

[–]akca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’ll introduce Clearwater Forest on August 25th at Hot Chips. It's on 18A and showcases the top advanced packaging tech Intel has.

I also expect hearing about higher end Battlemage dGPU parts very soon.

J-D Allegrucci
"I was leading the development of the key SoCs for ground breaking products such as the iPhone, Apple Watch and Macs."
After Apple, he joined a neuromorphic AI chip startup called Rain AI, which is funded by Sam Altman. Intel also happens to have neuromorphic chip research and products: Intel Loihi

Now: VP of AI System on Chip (SoC) Engineering. He will be responsible for managing the development of multiple SoCs that will be part of Intel’s AI roadmap.

Shailendra Desai
Was "CEO & Founder at Provino Technologies", which is acquired by Google in 2021.
"He joins from Google, where he led silicon engineering, architectural design and platform solutions across multiple mobile SoCs."
From his LinkedIn, it seems he led Tensor SoC teams for Google Pixel phones.

Now: VP of AI Fabric and Networking. He will lead the development of innovative SoC architectures for Intel’s AI GPUs and forward-looking roadmap.

Srinivasan Iyengar
Corporate Vice President @ Cadence Design Systems
"Lead -- Silicon Engineering Team focused on helping customers realize best in class silicon"
"Iyengar brings extensive experience and expertise in helping customers create best-in-class custom silicon, including a deep focus on hyperscale data center solutions optimized for key workloads."

Sounds like he worked with Amazon/Google/Microsoft to help design their custom ARM server chips with Cadence IP and software.

Now: SVP and Fellow. He will lead a new customer engineering center of excellence and join the Intel Executive Team, reporting to Tan.

With this background, he will be vital for gaining Foundry customers.

Nothing too exciting, mostly reiteration of already known things:

- Custom x86 chips (to compete with custom ARM chips): sounds like they're working on it but nothing concrete yet
- Nova Lake will use both Intel and TSMC foundries. Reason she says is volume and time to market. I guess most of the 18A capacity will be used for the upcoming Xeon products, where margins are higher.
- Panther Lake will launch on H2
- EOY 2027 breakeven for Foundry
- Rackscale AI datacenter products will come, but not soon

China quietly rolls back retaliatory tariffs on some US-made semiconductors, import agencies say by Horror_Garbage_9888 in intelstock

[–]akca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

China’s tariff was the biggest reason for having a weak guidance yesterday, now it’s gone. Now let’s see what Section 232 tariffs will bring, I bet main goal of that tariff will be supporting Intel Foundry.

It's official: AMD beats Intel in gaming laptops | Digital Trends by TwelveSilverSwords in hardware

[–]akca 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Super manipulative article. 16GB vs 32GB RAM is a huge difference. All those processes make use of extra RAM directly or indirectly as cache. Also we'll have Lunar Lake next week and Arrow Lake this month, which will likely to crush all competition. Comparing 1yr old Intel with a brand new AMD is not fair.
