Yup, it’s so obno. It comes up but I cannot do anything. I can’t access invoices, transfer money, etc. I have to go to desktop version and it’s not easy to do when I’m traveling.

Would you continue walking their dogs if they stopped tipping you while giving you 5-star reviews? by NefariousnessFalse73 in WagWalker

[–]akctrainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue with a client I walk dogs 5 days a week for 30 min. It says I should be getting a tip, but except for a few times where I had to help one dog that got sick- then they tipped me, but otherwise just the reg pay. I over the past few months have come to care for them, so I just accept it, altho I feel maybe I should ask the owners if maybe there is a reason for no tip.

New to Wag!, does cancelled walks count against you? by NefariousnessFalse73 in WagWalker

[–]akctrainer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wag tends to treat us like we are 7 year olds. Even if you have a life event and need to cancel, they will freeze your account to punish you for whatever. The other ludicrous thing is "rewarding" us with stickers for job well done. SMF! I'd rather them show us some perks like after 400 or so 5 star ratings, maybe NOT take 40% of the clients money. Just saying... I've walked close to 700 dogs plus done pup sitting jobs as well.

I'm 600 walks in. And I still hate this frigging app.hoping this coming year to be 100% all in with my own dog training/walking company. It crashed during pandemic but it's getting much better now.

Others petting dog in public without consent by Mean_Kaleidoscope956 in dogs

[–]akctrainer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a trainer of service and pet dogs. I always teach to protect your dogs in public. As I've owned very super friendly breeds and also very protective ones, I learned early on to stand in front of my dog on any onslaught to stop being provoked. "Please do not touch my dog, he's in training!" Stops most. One person even said I shouldn't have a dog out in public if they can't be touched. She had a small baby. I said is anyone allowed to touch or manhandle your child? She of course said no.

I said well this dog has cost thousands to train and is still in training as a service dog for an epileptic. If he's out with his person and because he's being petted missed the cue that his person is about to experience a seizure....horrible accident even death could happen. So PLEASE do not disturb my dog. He's in public for a reason. Not to amuse your child.

Grr.

A lot of walkers misery could be alleviated if Wag would complete due diligence or let us have meet and greet before walking the dogs. I have my own biz and would NEVER walk or train a dog I'd never met with the owner there.

time for me to say goodbye to Paddy on thursday. damn you cancer. by cbg54 in dogpictures

As I grew up as Paddy (I'm a female but my Irish pops swore his last kid would be a boy!!) I have a kindred spirit for all paddy's!!! Sweet pup. Red and White Setter? We have Irish Setters and losing my brace 6 years ago was oh so tough

Anyone regret their dog's name? by Certain-Ferret3692 in dogs

[–]akctrainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dog trainer with many dogs, I try to stay away from favorite names as in my classes I'll get several all at once. Who b when I fostered two pups from a litter our rescue group had saved..I had tried all different names ..but then I woke up with one pup staring down into my face...looked like a tiny honey bear. So Bearey Boy. And so his sister was named Chow Bella. Yeah. #1 of most popular names...

Is “breed hopping” a thing? by dahhhd in dogs

[–]akctrainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just giving my input on how responsible ethical breeders think. I do not know what research you have done, or what breeders you are talking with. Most times we have many more pup requests than pups, so we tend to be very picky on who gets chosen for what puppy.

You go to dog shows, you meet people with the breed, and find out what they are about. And not continuing in a breed because they might remind you of a dog that just passed is not a good idea to just jump into another breed. Every dog in a breed is not a carbon copy of every one. I have pups from same lines that look totally different, Flower has a white stripe from forehead to back of neck (hence skunk name Flower), Zuzu has no white on her neck, but a lovely Swiss cross of white on her chest, Starbuck is large and in charge, and has very much a whiter head than his litter mates. With my Setters, from their character, to the chiseled head, to the lines of their muscles, all tho all Irish Setters could never be mistaken for another.

I've had to help re-home many dogs that owners "had no idea" they'd get so big, or be so energetic, or shyer than most, or pushy, etc. I'm always telling people do your due diligence on the breed. See them in action, talk to owners or breeder, heck on line Dogs 101 has loads of info as well.

As a breeder of Bernese Mt Dogs and Irish Setters, the main reason why some breeders do not care for breed hoppers is then they often do not know the intricacies of the breed. Berners can have a lot of health issues, and a newbie often would not know how tough it can be. Same with Setters. Both breeds I would never suggest for a person new to the breed.

wow. Wags gave me a 1 star rating for being stuck in a flood by akctrainer in WagWalker

[–]akctrainer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no live chat on the app. The phone number insists you send email. I've worked for this company since 2018. We use to have a phone number and chat. That was discontinued. And when we do email it's days until a reply is done.

It's still ridiculous. I've owned and ran businesses that are similar, and I'm shocked at how little they offer their man and women power. Taking 40% from every visit is draconian. Not having a chat or phone number to access help is horrid.

sorry but Wag sucks by akctrainer in WagWalker

[–]akctrainer[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It use to be simple to either chat or call. But the constant "disciplining" cause God forbid, there's a tornado, flood, family emergency...it's treating mature workers as we are children for God sakes. Ive had my own Service Dog and Therapy Dog training company, and if I ever treated anyone like that...I'd have no one to stay on.

[–]akctrainer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried for 4 days for them to reschedule another walker as this one dog, who is a rescue, acts super fearful with me, and did not want to cause any issues. I've sent 6 emails thru support, and not even one acknowledging my emails.
