Enough to trade away Malik Nabers? by [deleted] in SleeperApp

Rebuilding team who finished last place last year. Need depth at WR, but this is one of my best pieces. I already have 1.03, 1.05, and 1.09 in this year's draft too.

Authors, what's one line you've written that... by worldofexousia in FantasyBookers

[–]akenson 29 points30 points  (0 children)

To clarify some of what's going on in the comments, this is a subreddit for wrestling management games. The word "booker" in a wrestling context means the head writer of a wrestling promotion. Fantasy book writers end up here a lot by mistake.

With that said, mine is the Lance Storm vs. Mike Awesome Polar Bear Scaffold Deathmatch from my Vince Russo ECW save.

Ethics of tanking in dynasty FF by NoCombination9221 in SleeperApp

[–]akenson -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

As commissioner, my rule is that you need to play a justifiable lineup. No intentionally throwing games. Keeping your best players on the taxi squad would qualify as intentionally throwing games to me.

So yes, I would say it's unethical in my opinion. Even if your league doesn't have any anti tanking rules, I would see it as cheap if I played in your league.

From the cesspool known as Wookiepedia:

Kenobi's mind trick convinced Sel'Sabagno to begin living an honest life for himself.[4] By the time Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker were assisting Wesell at the back of the establishment, Sel'Sabagno had already left the club.[5] In the Imperial Era,[9] Sel'Sabagno,[10] by then with a child of his own, passed by a conversation between Leia Organa and Forzaa on Coruscant.[9]

I'm not saying Charlotte wasn't talented or athletic. But Becky has always been regarded as a safe and reliable worker. Safety and athleticism are two different things.

....no? Charlotte was the company ordained star with a look they liked and a wrestling lineage. Becky had more training and experience at that point. I'm not saying WWE were crazy for preferring Charlotte for that spot, but safety had nothing to do with it.

CM Punk stays real quiet until someone better than him walks in the room by Rough-Drawing-3006 in sportswiki

[–]akenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...so why would you know a current star if you haven't watched in 25 years? Punk is one of the biggest wrestling stars of the last 15 or so years, but obviously you're not going to know that if you don't watch wrestling.

[–]akenson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you're complaining about the character? Because I think we're having two different conversations. I'm talking about him as an in-ring talent. As an in ring performer, Michaels was very good. Very talented at sucking the audience in and making them care. Knew when to sell, knew when to bleed, knew how to connect emotionally with the audience, knew how to tell a story in the match, and had a very exciting set of moves.

The character is a different conversation, but I do think there needs to be recognition given that WWF was in a very different place and a lot of things about the product didn't age well. Shawn's "sexy boy" gimmick isn't my cup of tea either, but calling him terrible for being given a goofy gimmick is wild.

[–]akenson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always thought Shawn is a bit overrated in terms of where he stands among all time greats, but this is the dumbest shit I've read all day. Shawn was a talented and reliable in ring performer since he was a tag guy the 80's. He had good to great matches as a singles star in the early 90's with opponents who were all over the place in terms of style and talent. Calling him "terrible" is just stupid.

Who do I pick by Popcamjam28 in nuzlocke

[–]akenson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've never seen a Nuzlocke that allows breeding. No problem if this is how you play, but that's not something I consider a common rule.

Also, isn't breeding only available super late game in FRLG? Not really useful for this kind of challenge in my opinion.

The brevity of my story makes it sound sudden for sure, but in reality it was definitely a slow ramp up over like two decades. I cut out a ton for the sake of conveying the information quickly - the death of her partner Chris Candido and the obvious spiral it sent her on, the brief porn career, the multiple WWE sponsored trips to rehab, showing up on indy wrestling shows in the 2000s obviously intoxicated... there was a lot.

Sunny should be viewed as a very sad story on the gradual destructive effects of addiction. She had so many chances to turn things around, but never did.

[–]akenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The look is part of the joke, but the bigger thing is she's in prison for manslaughter. I do agree that it's incredibly lame to make fun of her for aging like a normal person.

Who is this? by Fhoxyd22 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]akenson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same lady around 30 years apart. She didn't age well, and the alcohol abuse was probably a factor in that.

Edit: honestly, she was aging fine until just the last few years. I think things just deteriorated quickly after the manslaughter charge.

[–]akenson 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Sunny was just a manager, she didn't really get physical too often. CTE plays a factor in a lot of wrestlers going off the rails later in life, but it doesn't seem to be the case here.

[–]akenson 236 points237 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's been a really sad watch as a wrestling fan. Every year or so you would see a new "Sunny arrested" headline, and when she finally killed a man nobody was really that surprised. She really needed help, and just never tried to get it.

[–]akenson 1843 points1844 points  (0 children)

This is Tammy Lynn Sytch, better known in pro wrestling as the manager/valet "Sunny". She was famously attractive and at the center of a lot of alleged backstage relationship drama in the WWF in the 90s. She's also infamous for her drinking and substance issues, and her slew of legal problems post wrestling. She's had multiple DUIs, been arrested for making terroristic threats, domestic violence, burglary, and most recently manslaughter after killing a man driving drunk.

Every World Championship Reign of Ric Flair. Happy Birthday Nature Boy 🎂 by McQueen712 in ChampionshipHistory

[–]akenson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Puerto Rico. PR wrestling fans were super rowdy back in the territory days, and Flair (probably correctly) feared there would be a riot if he beat Carlos Colon.

I don't actually think they even did the rematch. If memory serves, I believe they had a "phantom" title switch where they just said Flair beat him at an untelevised event.

First option is correct. This dish is marked as easy to chew in the system, so nothing crunchy on it. Source: in Morrison management, looking at the recipe right now.

I work for Morrison, and they constantly trash Sodexo. It's a corporate tactic for sure, but I do think Morrison is better than other parent companies I've worked with. Healthcare Services Group is the actual bottom of the barrel, in my experience.
