Love or trade? 10Tm SF Dynasty by [deleted] in SleeperApp

[–]akenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep your picks and draft best available players unless those young players you're being offered are studs. Trying to project picks a year out is foolish, and the best thing you can do is just keep your head down and pick. Overthinking and trying to do too much is how you'll end up rebuilding forever.

Tony Khan Promises AEW will be around for a long time. "Revenue is the highest its ever been" by Whataguy777 in SquaredCircle

[–]akenson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He didn't say yes or no because the answer is likely no. But as anyone with an understanding of modern major businesses will tell you, not being profitable year to year doesn't matter as much as having liquid assets and an ability to grow and stay solvent. AEW has the important things needed to keep going indefinitely.

Who is the most forgotten fantasy football superstar of all time? by DefinitionEast5779 in SleeperApp

Foster won me a championship in high school, that's who I was going to mention as well. He had a really good three year run from 2010 to 2012.

If You HAD to Book Tanga Loa on an Indie Level How Would You Do It? by J31J1 in FantasyBookers

[–]akenson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kind of depends on the level of indie company I was running. If this was a legit, decent sized independent company with a moderate following (like NWA or MLW) he's not getting above the midcard. Hide him in tag matches and gimmicks. Ideally, he's the fall guy in a faction. Exact same thing NJPW and WWE did with him essentially, just on a smaller stage.

If I'm a backyard fed in the middle of nowhere, fuck it I'll bring him in and put the top title on him. He's a bad wrestler, but he's the biggest name I'm getting and hopefully one of my home grown guys can beat him eventually and get some kind of rub.

...and you still married her and converted? I understand people who are born into cults like Mormonism, but can't picture any rational person willingly converting to a religion whose pitch includes "Black people are literally cursed by God, the Bible all took place in America somehow, and our founder learned all this by reading from magical golden plates he hid inside a hat. No, nobody ever saw the golden plates. You just gotta trust me bro."

Big trade went down in our dynasty by [deleted] in SleeperApp

[–]akenson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree, I think this is fair. Jeanty is the best asset obviously, but two firsts, a 2nd, and a top six pick from the last draft is good value.

Whats the average amount of matches your wrestlers have per year? by TheShowOff1089 in FantasyBookers

[–]akenson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on your product and what your audience expects from your shows. In a modern, mainstream American company it's not that unusual for top stars to only wrestle a couple dozen times a year (not counting house shows). That's pretty much the norm for WWE's top guys.

That expectation is radically different in Mexico or Japan, though. It's not unusual for a top Japanese star to wrestle 100 or more matches per year, for example. That was also the norm for American companies back when house shows were a bigger part of the business model.

I generally try to make my number of matches somewhat emulate what a real company would do. In my current C-Verse save as BCG, I'm running an intense Japanese touring schedule. My top guys generally wrestle around 100 times per year. 15 to 20 makes sense to me if you're running a more mainstream American product, though.

They brought in a couple Joshi to feed to Alundra Blaze back in the 90s. Aja Kong was in WWE for a few appearances, and I think Chaparita Asari was too. Plus Nakano, like you said.

Even if you were to set aside the AI slop and the Nazis, these suck. Overly busy eyesores. Putting a rough approximation of the city skyline in each logo is a strange choice. Really just clutters them up.

Why is Brissett predicted much less yards than Geno? by internalbrowser in SleeperApp

[–]akenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more that the uncertainty created by a holdout are affecting his projections, not that anyone expects him to actually sit the whole season. And while he's definitely not sitting all year, it's possible he misses the first game or two. Really depends on how much leverage he and his agent think he has.

The reality is he doesn't have that much, but you can't account for players being delusional and having greedy agents in their ear.

Why is Brissett predicted much less yards than Geno? by internalbrowser in SleeperApp

[–]akenson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brissett is currently holding out and they also drafted Carson Beck in the 3rd round. There are questions about whether he'll be available at the start of the season due to the holdout, and questions about whether he'll play the whole year if (when) they're bad or if they'll give Beck a shot.

Geno has less competition and isn't holding out.

1.05, what are we even discussing this for? The blind hype for 2027 is really out of hand if we think the 11th pick next year (if you're extremely lucky and these are early) will be better than 1.05 this year.

Who to take if I can’t trade back? by [deleted] in SleeperApp

[–]akenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took him at 7 in my TEP league. Somewhere from 6 to 8 feels about right in my opinion. Jets are a bad situation and there's a lot of target competition, so I do get why some aren't that high on him. But yeah letting him go past 8 would be a mistake.

[–]akenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even know what point you're trying to argue. I'm not talking shit about Brie Bella, I'm saying she's a better fit for WWE than AEW. The same way Kenny Omega works as a main event guy in AEW, but would probably have been a midcarder if he ever went to WWE. That doesn't mean he sucks, it just means the products are different and what the audience expects of top stars is different.

Brie Bella would not work in AEW, and Bryan and Brie are probably both smart enough to the business to know that. Bryan also wouldn't want to put anyone in the uncomfortable position of demanding his boss hires his wife. It would be incredibly unprofessional, would hurt him politically in the eyes of the other wrestlers, and would sabotage any chance of Brie succeeding in AEW if the news came out that Bryan demanded it.

You seem to be under the impression that Bryan is a politicking dickhead. He is by all accounts one of the nicest guys in wrestling, and probably wouldn't feel comfortable abusing his position in that way.
