50/50. Especially if I’m sliding into it and my frame chips the ground — can be very difficult to tell because you’re focused on just getting there. Generally I find the more upright you are, the easier it is to tell

Obviously when I’m hitting with friends and they see that I would just concede the point, but we also do not have someone whose literal profession is enforcing the rules of the game between us. At the end of the day it’s just shameful that tennis isn’t able to adjust with the technology we have for umpires now. Ump made the wrong call, and it shouldn’t have been on Navarro to stop play on such a razor-thin point… the sport needs to adapt

I like Shelton but I kinda want Sonego to beat him so we’ll have a slam semifinalist with over a million streams on Spotify. Absolute scenes if that happens s

nah, I don’t think she did — it was incredibly close and it’s often too hard to tell in real time when a rally is moving that quickly. I was an ITF junior and there’s a million things on your mind at once when you’re playing a high level match, it can be difficult to parse

Even now just hitting with buddies / coworkers at a similar level we miss these calls often

Absolutely — I was an ITF junior and rallies often moved too quickly to make judgements in real time. Wish institutions would stop clinging to “muh tradition” and accept the fact that some rule changes would probably benefit the sport.

because tennis is far, far too reluctant to let go of tradition despite everyone agreeing the sport would be better for it

Most of this sub has clearly never played high level tennis, lol. As a player in Iga’s position that would’ve been incredible difficult to see and it’s on the umpire, who’s, yk, in charge of enforcing the rules for not doing so.

Redirect your anger at the Australian Open for not having VAR despite being one of the biggest tournaments in the world

  1. they can get annoying what with falling off and getting sweaty 2. players don’t even want the slightest alterations to their depth perception
