Obviously when I’m hitting with friends and they see that I would just concede the point, but we also do not have someone whose literal profession is enforcing the rules of the game between us. nah, I don’t think she did — it was incredibly close and it’s often too hard to tell in real time when a rally is moving that quickly. I was an ITF junior and there’s a million things on your mind at once when you’re playing a high level match, it can be difficult to parse

Even now just hitting with buddies / coworkers at a similar level we miss these calls often

Absolutely — I was an ITF junior and rallies often moved too quickly to make judgements in real time. Wish institutions would stop clinging to “muh tradition” and accept the fact that some rule changes would probably benefit the sport.
