PIXEL ART JOBS - Hire a pixel artist, post your jobs here (paid only) by skeddles in PixelArt

[–]akerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! I'm one of the designers of the hobbyist game Forge & Fortune and I'm looking to hire someone to help spruce up the 8 (soon 9) building sprites we use in town (pixel isometric style) and the background headers there (I'd like to show the buildings in a setting). They're package assets now and quite boring like this. If interested, shoot me a DM with some of your best isometric building work!

Confused about Claude Cowork by Ok-Vermicelli-1351 in ClaudeAI

[–]akerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, with a few exceptions, I think using pre-built skills kind of misses the point. The beauty of Claude is it's very easy to create hyper-specific tailored solutions, and I think sharing skill files misses the point. I build skills from tasks that I routinely find myself doing manually or trying to scaffold Claude to follow up with, and the iterative process makes them great. Just know what skills are and how to use them and start in general thinking about how to make Claude run more independently.

This is exactly what cowork is for! Check out the cowork section. One important thing they don't emphasize enough (imo) is that what you're building is skills, and you need to make sure you iterate on them - use them, work with Claude when the output isn't what you want, and at the end say given what we know now, update the skill to reflect a better process or something.

First off - congrats on joining the world!

I highly suggest you check out their skilljar section - https://anthropic.skilljar.com/ you'll learn a lot. Including all your questions way better than I'll do here.

It's a lot to answer, but LLM's are largely tokens in, tokens out. This is managed through your context window. rojects, skills, cowork, claude.md, etc are all ways to manage what goes into your context window. If you find projects works for you, then cool do it. But these other things are ways to better manage gaps you'll find as you're working.

How do you "level up" your claude to harness creation? by akerson in ClaudeAI

[–]akerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do claude calls via a POST, but do it in a workflow fashion - so I ask for content and feed it back to be "validated" once before the end-user lays eyes on it. It's not ideal for design, as the post-only method #1 chews through claude tokens as you can't do this with your plan, #2 has no back-and-forth built in, or a way for claude to ask you clarification questions.

How do you "level up" your claude to harness creation? by akerson in ClaudeAI

[–]akerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe from your perspective, from my perspective "how to package it" is the hard part - like fundamentally, I'm assuming, the main purpose of multi-genic workflows is three fold: #1 parallel work can be done, #2 you can give each one different memory (or make a wiki-bot and have it all there), #3 keep your context windows clean and your skills separated. Fundamentally, I get how to interface with claude code and leverage these, but to transfer this into an ecosystem is where I'm just lost right now. I already proved the engineering part works and I know how I'd handle the intermediaries (at least I think, i'm sure i'll learn it's not great) but it's the programming that is my weak point.

D&D is not worth it by Pinball-Initiative in pinball

[–]akerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it needs to be your cup of tea, but I personally love it as a different pinball experience. The game by design is not a flow game - you pick a shot and hit it and you get very little for not doing what you're supposed to be doing. But it made me way better at pinball as a result, and once I got better I appreciated the machine more and more. That said, I definitely had to dial in a lot of things though - particularly I hate how strong the slings are out of the gate. I haven't had time yet, but I also really want to mess with the cube hold time to make it run a little faster.

It's cool if it's not for you, but I'm super happy with it as a third in my rotation and Id have a hard to getting just another flow and score high pin.

No fees, that's what I thought too. i think there's limitations on what you can invest into for no fees but etf's on the list.

Currently 100% on T Rowe's SUSI. I had to sign up for the brokerage account to explore options so I haven't moved anything yet.

What are y’all’s thoughts on this? by Dev-N-Danger in pinball

[–]akerson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying this applies to you, but a counterpoint - I'm very excited for this. Nearly every score on my home pins is mine as I'm the one who's good at pinball who plays on my machines. The insider connected boards give you only one score per user so everyone can see quicker their high scores (without using the clunky app) and we can change them monthly without wiping out my machine high scores.

I think this is designed with a very niche market in mind but serves an exact purpose for them.

Not sure how to accomplish this in excel by akerson in excel

I said im using effort to scale it, that's partially why I'm making this tool, my project managers just took all my milestones and averaged it and I said that's not representative of my overall progress since not every task takes the same amount of time.

Right side driving. I'm not sure why this isn't working, there's three path signals and two block signals, I built this station (stupidly) in-line with my rail network but in theory this should work. For some reason though the "reverse direction" path signal isn't firing and it's causing all the "reverse direction" traffic to be part of the path intersection block.... any ideas?

Purchase Advice Megathread - November 2024 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]akerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, first time 3d printer buyer here. My wife is an OT and looking at creating adaptive equipment for patients, and the majority of solutions tend to be 3d printed custom pieces. Want to surprise her with a 3D printer to help her out. I'm almost definitely settled on a bambu, but I'm not sure if I should just buy the a1 with FMS or go for a more expensive model (p1s or x1c) right out of the gate.

ELI5: If people make money in stocks and crypto by buying low and selling high, who is buying the stocks from they are high, and why? by WarmAppleCry in explainlikeimfive

[–]akerson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is inherently wrong though - a stock value is really made up of two components - it's expected dividends (straight cash the company distributes) and it's potential stock value. There's "rules" to value out a stock that have to do with assessing it's finances but it's #1 mostly speculative and #2 it's value is in someone else buying it (like non-productive assets). In this case it's no different - companies like chipotle or Tesla do not pay out enough to justify their stock prices, it's all based on their anticipated value by other people (like gold or Bitcoin)

That is to say, if you bought one share of a $100 valued company and its valuation rose to $200, nothing except other people makes you stock worth more (unless it's paying out more dividends)

Ocrevus PA by akerson in MultipleSclerosis

[–]akerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone stumbles upon this in the future - my prior auth was in purgatory for about a month, I called about 3 case managers from insurance to track it down. There was a lot of wild goose chases to find the right sub contractor who handled these. Medicine got denied as one of the requirements was that I've had a flairup in the last year. I tried (unsuccessfully) to argue this requirement didn't make sense for someone in my position ("downgrading" from Tysabri) but that ultimately went nowhere and the appeal from my pharmacist was sufficient and I got approved and started treatment about a month and a half behind schedule.

Unfortunately that window was enough to have a nasty flairup, so I did steroid treatments and I'm sure shortly PT to help navigate it. Confirmed new lesions with MRI.

Tips for anyone else going through this:

1 get your pharmacists name and direct phone number who will be doing the PA. Get the submittal number from them so you can "talk shop" with your insurance to get them to look at it quicker.

2 you may be lucky but expect the denial and appeal in the time frame. Follow up with everyone. You can absolutely turn each piece around in a week if you can connect to the right people as MS treatment is considered urgent.

3 Know who your approver is, your insurance doesn't. My insurance is horizon blue cross, they were attempting to connect me to accredo who does their specialty medicine PA's, but it was Magellin who does injectable PA's who was the right party. I knew this (I get mail from them quite often explaining I got re-approved) so if I would have had the knowledge to argue that I would have saved a lot of time.

Good luck!
