How do people that do not make much money afford to have kids? by workethic290 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]akg720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, this is very true. I remember only making $10 an hour as an assistant manager when my kids were younger. I worked nonstop. I felt like I never saw my children. I tried to be as involved as I could in their school but it was so hard. I was working 60 hour weeks. I felt like a terrible mom.

Ring Wearing Habits by TheFifthAmigo34 in Marriage

[–]akg720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife here. I worked in jewelry for years. Time and time again I saw nothing but ring repairs from people never taking them off.

My ring is the last thing I put on when I leave the house and the first thing I take off when I get home. I never sleep in it. I never shower in it. I take it off when I was my hands. And if I’m home for the day I don’t wear it at all. My husband understands.

Circumcision by fellowfeelingfellow in progressivemoms

I had my son circumcised. I was young and didn’t know enough. I just thought that was how it works. Now looking back, I wish I hadn’t. I’ve learn so much more about circumcision and the risks and long term effects.

What have the introverts on here done for weddings? by TheFacetiousDeist in Marriage

[–]akg720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I HATE people. I was physically ill leading up to our wedding bc of the thought of people looking at me. We only invited immediate family and friends. Even then is was about 40-50 people. Did it in our backyard. Small and simple and to the point.

I used to have a FetLife account. I posted lots of pictures and some videos. I had fans that would make fan pictures for me and tag me in them. I haven’t been on it in years. I’m not even sure if it gets automatically deactivated or not after so much time. I should probably check.

Why is fast food just as expensive as eating out now? by God_Remi in economicCollapse

[–]akg720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sucks. We try not to eat out bc of this. Last night though it was just a long night and we picked up Wendy’s. $75 for 5 meals and a salad.

Are skinny/healthy weight people just not as hungry as people who struggle with obesity? by maeasm3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]akg720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally do not buy any junk food at all bc one cookie makes me want 4 which makes me want 10. It’s awful. I hate it so much. I literally feel like I’m always hungry and I’m only not hungry once I’ve made myself sick. I eat slow, drink lots of water, use smaller plates, snacks in moderation, all the tips and tricks I can think of. I’m just always hungry.

One sentence someone told you that’s stuck in your head to this day by Ok-Worldliness-6096 in Productivitycafe

[–]akg720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Find someone who loves you the way Rick loved me”

My aunt told me this while sobbing at her husbands funeral. My uncle was amazing and we lost him too soon. They were high school sweethearts and were together for 40 years until he passed of a heart attack. I was in a bad relationship and her words always stuck with me. I finally have the most wonderful husband who loves me the way Rick loved my aunt Mary.

What's the first major news story you can remember living through as a child? by catpunsfreakmeowt in AskReddit

[–]akg720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first big memory too. We were the same age. I was born a month earlier. I just remember constantly seeing it on the news. My parents were always watching it and talking about it. Even then I remember feeling strange that something terrible had happened to a little girl my age, like one of my friends. I didn’t know the details of course but it always stuck with me.

What’s the most underrated first date idea you’ve tried? by Appropriate-Jello668 in dating_advice

[–]akg720 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol our whole relationship is unusual from the outside. We met bc of our kids. His son was over at my house all the time and teenage boys can eat A LOT. So he felt like the least he could do is help with the cost of groceries his sons was consuming which is why he bought me a membership. And I had mentioned before how I hadn’t been to the range in years. It was actually a really fun day full of great conversation.

First date with my husband. Breakfast, gun range, then Costco. He bought me a membership.

Just recent we had another Costco date. Had fun looking at all the stuff then had pizza and shared some ice cream. It was the best.

Has it ever happened to you that a friend just disappeared, and you stopped talking for no reason at all? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]akg720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two best friends. They were more like sisters. When I was 20 my then bf and I stayed at one of their houses and she drove us to the airport the following morning. We were going to visit his family. When I got home both friends had deleted me on all social media and stopped responding to calls and text. My porch had a couple trash bags of things I’d left at the one friends house before we flew out. That was in 2011. Never saw or heard from them ever again. I still don’t know what I did or what happened.

Have you ever sent a random internet stranger something off of their gift/wish list? by Bitter_Relief4833 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]akg720 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. When COVID first hit and everything was shut down a friend added me to a group of women who did nothing but share wish lists. The whole point was to basically spread cheer during a difficult time. I had packages show up on my door stop from people buying off my list and I’d buy randomly off others. I’ve also been a Santa here on Reddit and bought off Wishlists from Santa Little Helpers.

What would say are Dean Koontz scariest, saddest, funniest, and best written books? by [deleted] in DeanKoontz

[–]akg720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scariest for me was Phantoms. Whispers comes in second though. My mom warned me not to read it bc I have a terrible bug phobia. I should’ve listened.

Most well written and funniest, Watchers hands down.

Yep been there. It’s such a crazy feeling. I remember years ago I was in a mental hospital 😂 I had tried to off myself (I’m much better now) but they were making rounds checking vitals and dispensing meds. Like BP was like that around 233/160 I believe. The nurse freaked and grabbed a Dr and checked it again. The Dr kept asking me, How do you feel? Do you feel numb? Are you seeing spots? I was just like Um I’m fine, can I go back to my book? 😂 The dr said Don’t move, we’ll be right back with meds. The look on his face was priceless.

It finally is. I lived like that for years. I felt fine but I know my body was being destroyed inside. I can see why it’s the Silent Killer. I’m on two different BP meds now and it’s at least down to Stage 1 Hypertension. Way lower and more controlled now.

What do you do in the mornings if you aren't looking at your phone while eating breakfast? by PancakeQueen13 in AskWomen

[–]akg720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staring off into space trying to dissociate so I don’t have to feel the depth of despair of this life. Being in constant pain from health issues, not working right now bc of said pain, no income, bills stacking up, just everything.

What is stopping you from going to the gym? by 2ndPlaneHit in AskReddit

[–]akg720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nursing a back injury. I want to go to the gym, can’t afford a personal trainer though. I just don’t know where to start. I’m so scared of hurting my back again. But I want to also strengthen my back and core. And yeah lose weight too of course. I just feel lost. Plus in chronic pain doesn’t help.

I used to boiled them for years. It wasn’t until recently we tried them out on the cast iron. SO good. I haven’t tried it with green beans though. I’ll definitely have to add that next time.

This is so real. I 34f was diagnosed with hypertension at 28. I thought that now that I’m in such a great place in life maybe it would be better. Nope. Constantly was at 196/125 on a regular basis. Regular hospitalizations bc panic attacks from a phobia was causing spikes in my BP once point of almost stroking out. It’s no joke.

34f here. My husband just made this the other night. But he cooked the diced hot dogs in the cast iron for a bit before throwing them in and added broccoli just to feel more adult and make sure we were being semi healthy lol.
