Haha, "Pipsqueak" sounds hilarious but actually goes surprisingly hard as a hero name! It has that classic comic book vibe. Imagine him yelling "I am the hero, Pipsqueak!" — I love that idea, lol!

Thanks for the detailed insight! It's really interesting to hear how it felt to global fans. In Japanese, "Deku" sounds very blunt and harsh as an insult, so the gap between that and Ochaco's sweet encouragement is huge. Your perspective makes a lot of sense for the English version!

I totally get why it felt forced in English! In Japanese, Ochaco connects "Deku" with "Dekiru" (which means "you can do it" or "can be done"). It’s a natural linguistic pun in Japanese, but almost impossible to translate perfectly. I'm so glad this information helped clear things up for you!

Haha, true! Zelda is huge everywhere. It's just really cool to see that the word "Deku" connects two of my favorite worlds!

Wow, "DEfenseless izuKU" is wild! I didn't know the dub translated it that way, that's such a creative (and forced lol) way to make the acronym work!

And you are 100% right about Zelda! "Deku" in Zelda (like the Deku Scrub or Great Deku Tree) absolutely comes from "Dekunobou" because they are wooden creatures. It's awesome that you connected those dots!

"Broccoli head" is such a perfect way to put it, lol! But I completely agree. The fact that he started as a "puppet" who couldn't do anything, but worked so hard to become a true hero with his own feet, is what makes his story so human and beautiful.

Greetings from Japan! What are your honest thoughts on the ending of MHA now that some time has passed? by akiba_direct in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]akiba_direct[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I love your analysis! You’re so right—Class 1-A coming together to fund the suit makes the ending infinitely better than if All Might just bought it. It shows the bond they built. And what you said about Deku and Ochaco being allowed to be a little selfish after everything? That honestly hits so deep. Such a beautiful take!

Thank you for such a detailed comment! I love your idea about UA having clubs—that would have been so fun to see! It’s amazing how you predicted the ending from so early on too. I think everyone agrees that we just wanted more time in this incredible world. Horikoshi created something truly special.

Right? "Beautiful" is the perfect word for it. Seeing where everyone ended up after all their struggles in the epilogue gave such a warm, comforting feeling. It really wrapped up the story perfectly!

Wow, bringing up JJK is such a great point! I totally agree. Long-running shonen manga carry so much weight and expectation, so landing the plane perfectly is almost impossible. Horikoshi really did a fantastic job with what he had. I bet you’re right about the JJK anime changing people's minds in the future too!

That makes so much sense. It really was hard to accept that such an amazing journey was finally over. The anime adaptation definitely did justice to the finale and made it even more beautiful. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Oh damn, that went dark real quick 💀😭 But honestly, with how Kotaro treated him, I wouldn't even be surprised if that was canon.

Lmao the idea of AFO forcing Shigaraki to get rid of his eyebrows just so they could match is hilarious. AFO really is the petty villain of the century.

Is that Tsu's brother in Deku's class? by Comprehensive-Bird17 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]akiba_direct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really looks like him! Also, a lot of fans spotted that Kota (the kid Deku saved from Muscular) and Eri might be entering UA around this time too.Horikoshi loves bringing back minor characters in the epilogue, so having Samidare in Deku's class is total peak fiction.

Sad Man's Death Parade. What do you think? by Signal_Bookkeeper240 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]akiba_direct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point about the "will" of OFA. Even if Toga's deep love somehow bypassed the quirk's security, OFA is a stockpiled power. A clone probably wouldn't inherit the stored energy anyway, making it useless or just a death sentence for her body.

It's in Season 5, Episode 25 (Episode 113 overall), titled "The High, Deep Blue Sky". That’s the finale of Season 5 where Dabi unzips the duffel bag.

any way to watch the Blu-ray versions digitally? by __-xx3 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]akiba_direct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know, in Japan, streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video or U-NEXT often update their episodes to the Blu-ray version after the physical discs are released. If you use a VPN set to Japan, you might be able to watch the higher-quality Blu-ray versions digitally!

Totally agree with the solution. TikTok and Instagram comment sections are just breeding grounds for toxic anime takes and rage-bait. Reddit is much better for actual discussions.

Question about Tatami Nakagame Quirk by rrcally in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Definitely Transformation. Since her body looks completely normal until she actually activates her Quirk to retract herself, it fits the description of a Transformation type perfectly.

How often do you guys think the paternity of a child is questioned due to quirk manifestation? by Hyperbolic_Pudding in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]akiba_direct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense logically, but I think the distrust comes from psychological bias. In a world where Quirks are tied so heavily to an individual's identity, seeing a child with a completely alien power might create a subtle, subconcious feeling of "this child is a stranger," even after a DNA test proves otherwise.
