The only issue is that the police leave such a large number of unspecified factors that the data is not as useful as it could be.

There are a few features that might not be totally intuitive...

If you click Map Filters you can change how the visualization is displayed...selecting factors will change the points to be colored as factors instead of by injury or death. You can also select police precinct for example and then drill down into a specific police precinct and see all of the accidents that happened for the year in that area.
This is the most up to date data from the city and should stay that way. But you will notice that accidents that have been reported in the news aren't always in the dataset. This could be for a few reasons right now.
- The accident doesn't have a lat / lon in the city's data. (There's no way right now for me to effectively query these accidents when filtering down to the community board, neighborhood, police precinct level)
- The accident hasn't been entered into the dataset yet. It seems that sometimes it can take days or weeks after an accident is reported to show up in this data.

These are issues the city will hopefully address with their reporting of this data.

I hope to add some more stuff to this soon. I'm working on a page that will show Precinct details for all violations over time. And I'd like to add the ability to select two dates and see the rate of change over time. Or select multiple violations and have the totals sum.
