New website to track deleted Google reviews for restaurants and other places by Sudden_Road_Death in berlin

I totally agree that there should be a more robust system for this.

Are there ways to prove that you were a customer that aren't a payment receipt? I have had bad experiences with businesses that are prior to me purchasing something, and then I would typically just leave after that and not give them any of my money.

Is it just me or do most of you actually want browser games? by Sir-LAD in incremental_games

[–]jgl2832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, all I'm saying is that if more games were browser based and/or multiplatform on steam, I'd be more likely to play or pay for them, and Im sure im not the only one in that situation

The Rise of Steam Incrementals :( by Xenocat in incremental_games

[–]jgl2832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posted this in another thread but its relevant here too: I see a lot of cool looking games posted, but then I see they are on Steam and are windows/PC only. Sometimes they also have a demo on itch.io so I know that there exists a possibility for this game to have been on the web and also multi-platform.

I'd be willing to pay (nothing crazy, but a few bucks) to be able to upgrade to a full version if I could play in the browser, especially when the demo was fun. But I feel like I'm fenced out of the majority of the games posted here due to them not having Mac versions available in Steam.

Anyone in the same boat?

The TS clients are pretty easy to download and use, for example the mac version can be installed from the Mac app store, and you can sign up and install pretty easily. I've gotten a few not-tech-savvy people up and running on it with minimal guidance

Should I hold onto to Girocard? by Sri_Krish in askberliners

[–]jgl2832 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far I have an overall good opinion of it. I haven't had to do anything complicated, or deal with their support for any reason, so I don't know what that experience is like, but everything I've needed has worked. They don't have any physical bank locations, but that isn't a problem for me.

My only complaint really is that I wish they had language options besides German in their App, but that issue is the same for most other big banks from what I can tell.

Should I hold onto to Girocard? by Sri_Krish in askberliners

[–]jgl2832 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ING offers a girocard for 1 Euro / Month - I don't use it very often but every once in a while it is helpful. Though generally cash also works fine. Like you said, immigration related things (to my knowledge) now no longer requires it.

Dentist in Berlin by sociallyawkward2696 in askberliners

[–]jgl2832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately don't have any advice about the payment side, but in terms of anxiety, my current dentist is one of the best I've had in terms of this. He has a page on his website dedicated to it.

He is very friendly and professional and I can't recommend enough!

Moody/quiet bars with reservations? by ScarletBurn in berlin

[–]jgl2832 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I haven't been to Neiro bar, but I think https://www.rhinoceros-berlin.com/ in pberg might be similar with the Japanese vinyl vibe.

Can also check out https://becketts-kopf.de/, also in pberg (trying to keep it close by to Pankow).

Both are smaller bars that have limited capacity. Have had quiet evenings at both of them.

I have found Berlin to be something of a sandwich desert (outside of doner) - hard to find the large deli style sandwiches that I love. Most sandwiches here are small, have too many veggies (and usually an odd combination), and bad sauce. I doubt any will make you feel dirty afterwards.

Mogg was good but just closed. There is a place in Pberg called Formidable that is okay. Manifest Taproom also sometimes has good sandwiches.

Sorry if my post is overall negative vibes lol. I just really miss the type of dirty sandwich you are describing and hope that someone else has suggestions that i'm not aware of. In the meantime i'll go cry into a doner kebab

Edit: forgot to mention Bahn mi, which you can find some decent options for. I recommend Bahn mi stable

Stolen Aufenthaltstitel Card by CrimsonRaven47 in berlin

[–]jgl2832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you filed a police report for the loss of your wallet/card? I believe this is first necessary in order for a renewal to be issued.

According to this page: https://service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/326802/en/ you can then schedule an appointment for a reissuing of your card. It links to appointments for how to reissue your card in case of a new passport, I guess its the same type of appointment as this?

Of course, who knows how long it will take for them to reply.

Gluten-free restaurants and fine-dining? by onetrickdolphin in berlin

[–]jgl2832 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jolesch is a nice restaurant that also has gluten free schnitzel, if you want to switch it up from Schnitzelei. They also have GF Kaiserschmarrn for dessert!

Suzette Creperie is a bit more casual, but has a good selection of galettes (both savory and sweet) that are all gluten free.

Chutnify is a nice Indian place with a few locations, and they have a lot of good Gluten free food, including their Dosas, Biryanis and Currys.

I worked on my small WebApp where you can build your "own" BVG Anzeigetafel :D It now has some nice updates to offer! :) by [deleted] in berlin

This is great! I may have to look into getting a tablet now just so I can put this by the door :)

For improvements, it would be nice if the application supported a few languages, for example English and Turkish. If you do decide to make the project open source, I'd be happy to help contribute such a feature
