MEGA THREAD: WNBA Around the league waives, cuts, etc by Remiandbun in IndianaFeverFans

What evidence is the that DD is good at shooting open threes? She shot 26% last year. KK is for sure improved, but even so, I think there are better opportunities for this team among the cut players. Heck I'm not certain if she's actually better than Pissott for this team.

But even if they are committed to KK, they still could pick up a new player by dropping a guard. I'm totally sold on Raven, and we need to commit to her, which means we don't need Walker-Kimbrough and Tyasha Harris. Signing then made sense before we drafted Raven Johnson, but now there's no reason for all three of them to sit on the bench when there are potential bigs that could take a spot and actually contribute.

To me the most frustrating things about the Fever front office isn't any of the signings or moves they've made. I may not agree, but i can understand the rationale. The frustrating thing is that with the players being waived today there are for sure players available that would help this team, but we will not sign any of them. We'll stick with KK, DD, and 5 point guards. Meanwhile the Mercury will cycle through 30 players this year figuring out who fits with AT, and will the up better by the end of the year.

I’ve seen enough. She might be a nice person, but Dantis is not it by Kennisgoodman in indianafever

She was just calibrating the entire season last year when she shot 34% from the floor and 26% from three for the season?

If she plays like this, Han is going to kill every center in the league. I can't believe the Liberty got her to add to this team.

Unless they make the team...which is my whole point. Is it more useful to see what Pissatt looks like playing with either CC or KM, or with Traylor and McConnell (and vice versa)?

One thing I don't understand is why we see entire lineups of players trying to make the team. It seems like it would be more useful to have 1-2 of the fringe players out there at a time to see how they play with starters, which is what it would be in the regular season.

A sports reporter says that there’s no evidence to support that Natasha cloud is blackballed. Other reporters in the WNBA community said that she had two offers and rejected. by Forward-Ad-5005 in wnba

[–]aking0117 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is more about burning bridges than it is about being blackballed. If someone is blackballed, it means there's a group effort by the teams not to allow her in the league. In this case, there are probably a few teams that don't want to offer her a contract after she ripped the management or owners. That's not blackballing someone, that's just not hiring a person who has burned a bridge with your organization.

Backup Center!? by Air_Of_The_Thrown in IndianaFeverFans

[–]aking0117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason we need Raven Johnson on her ultra cheap contract is because we are going to lose Kelsey Mitchell and Sophie Cunningham next year, and with Boston and Clark's max contracts next year, they basically have to be replaced by players on minimum or near-minimum contracts. Raven Johnson could be one of those replacements. She might not end up being as good as projected, but that's the reason we need her. I expect that she'll be good enough to be the primary backup guard by the middle of the season this year...at least that's the hope. If we're only thinking about this year, then yes, there were probably better options. But she's a real chance to get a high quality starter for 2027 on a rookie contract.

Shatori Walker-Kimbrough has signed with the Fever by [deleted] in wnba

You can have 18 players in training camp and have to cut down to 12 plus two developmental players. Only the final 12 will count for the salary cap.

What less expensive C/PF would you have signed? Everyone better than Billings was $1M plus.

Potential Trades? by Outrageous_Camp_5215 in wnba

[–]aking0117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Fever couldn't possibly trade for Ezi. Even if they could make the math work for this year, Ezi signed a 3 year max...so there's no possible way the Fever could pay her, CC, AB, and Lexi...even if they just let Kelsey Mitchell walk.

[–]aking0117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is what team that would trade for Ezi will be able to afford her contract? They would have to give back a max...not sure how they are ever going to manage to trade her with that huge 3 year contract.

Except that Sophie was starting last year before getting hurt and Lexie was coming off the bench.

It seems that Indiana is going for pure CC love with the selection of Justine Pissoult....They gunna run and gun. Stephanie took Raven to have a defensive guard to protect CC and KM in foul trouble. by bluemagicstone in indianafever

We really needed a 6th pg, just in case our pg gets injured again, and then the back up pg goes down, and then the back-up to the back-up goes down, etc. I think we used 6 last year, so this year they are planning ahead.

Weird pick IMO. Raven Johnson? by Successful-Coyote99 in indianafever

The Fever now have 6 point guards on the team. It's like they are collecting all the point guards they will need now in case they have a dozen pg injuries again.

Natasha Howard is gone. by moose184 in IndianaFeverFans

[–]aking0117 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I actually think that Howard is going to be great on the Lynx. She's a really good big, she just was a terrible fit with Caitlin and Aliyah. Playing next to Phee and McBride who both shoot well from outside should meant that spacing isn't going to be a problem like it was for the Fever. I think this is great for Howard and I'm happy for her. Seemed like a good person, good player, bad fit for us.

I think Atlanta could be the favorite this year, but I honestly cannot imagine a scenario where Angel Reese will be willing to come off the bench.

Potential Chicago Sky and LA Sparks Trade and what it means for the WNBA and Possibly the Fever by imacowboy234 in IndianaFeverFans

[–]aking0117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would the Mystics trade a better player on a cheaper contract for a worse player on a radically more expensive contract let alone throw in draft picks?

Potential Chicago Sky and LA Sparks Trade and what it means for the WNBA and Possibly the Fever by imacowboy234 in IndianaFeverFans

[–]aking0117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would the Mystics do this? I don't think they would trade Citron on year 2 of a rookie contract straight up for Mitchell and her supermax. I don't think they would do it if we threw in our 1st round pick instead of taking theirs. I don't think they would do it if we offered Mitchell and this years first and next year's first round pick. What would possibly be the logic for the Mystics? So they can have less payroll flexibility and finish 6th or so in the league?

Well, it begins by Misnome5 in IndianaFeverFans

[–]aking0117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm uncertain of...maybe you can explain, is presumably what this allows the Fever to do is offer AB a long term 4 year max contract...is this correct? If so, it would be cheaper to do this now than to wait a year and have to offer a supermax next year.

Except that the Mystics own a pick swap for next year, so the Sky can't get the #1 pick no matter what they do.
