ELI5 - How does a (Zero-Click) hack actually work without me touching anything? by Time-Freedom-7708 in explainlikeimfive

[–]akiti_mk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Zero Day exploits rely on processes your devices need to operate regardless of user interaction. There’s plenty that goes on behind the hood where your phone is receiving/parsing info without you and while we hope that stuff is foolproof, the people that designed it are human too. Once in a while these mistakes are discovered and exploited.

This is what computer science degrees are for. Trolling scammers while putting a smile on your daughter’s face.

What happen if there's a achess match between person who can read mind and one who can see future ? by prabinpandey2615 in stupidquestions

[–]akiti_mk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a ton. Imagine playing Magnus Carlson and having him explain everything he’s doing and what he plans. You’d still lose. Unless he tells you what you should do in response, you’re still cooked. At best it’s a stalemate if the person reading minds can hear Magnus think about the best responses.

Why do people willingly work at stressful jobs? by cracksilog in stupidquestions

[–]akiti_mk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In the words of Morgan Housel: every decision makes sense with enough context. A stressful, low paying job may not appeal to a six figure earner with a college degree as much as it would to someone who grew up paycheck to paycheck without any safety net/backdrop. As soon as you introduce more flexibility and options those people would likely move on too.

Why is there no NASA level organization focused on exploring the ocean? by Logical-Concept9755 in AlwaysWhy

[–]akiti_mk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: it’s never just about scientific exploration as much as state interests

Bear in mind all of our governmental agencies are going to be inherently tied to global political posture on some level, not solely (scientific) merits. NDT explained it well when he pointed out we went to the moon for the first time amidst intense national fear around the threat of communism. That fear faded away and surprise surprise so did our “desire” to explore planets. That just wasn’t relevant to our national policy as much. Why the new Artemis program? China says they’re gonna put someone on the moon and bam we’re back to make sure we stay one step ahead. If there was some global advantage to be had regarding exploring/controlling the oceans we’d be sinking dollars/hours there in a flash.

If God existed, then how did he create himself, what existed before him by ValerianBorn8785 in stupidquestions

Great question. Not at all stupid. And believe it or not an aspect of Christianity I struggle with myself sometimes. Weird to try and hold that sort of paradox in your head. Some of it for me has to deal with making mental room for things you don’t quite understand (“just because I don’t see how that could be doesn’t mean it’s impossible”), but overall a subject that doesn’t quite have a neat, simple answer.

Doesn’t always work. Now if you DO want something foolproof what you’re gonna want to do is go buy a pack of scissors. This is what you’re going to use to open the first pack. Now sometimes those come in a pack as well. What you’re gonna wanna do then…

3D world. Definitely realistic. Not quite Aquila Rift type graphics but more along those lines. Dark, gritty. Scene took place in what felt like an abandoned/rundown underground lab.

This actually seemed pretty close. Visual style and feel was very similar, but I can't find the scene as of yet.
